Rock Band Platform |OT|

I love baseball, hockey and soccer. I can enjoy watching the greatest in the world do pretty much anything. I can't get into basketball though because scoring is too easy it almost doesn't matter.
 
Hockey sucks because 90% of the goals seem to be "oh look, the forward's pass across the rink to a teammate bounced off the back of a defender's skate and went into the goal" and "a routine shot-on-goal went in." That goes along with the whole Seinfeld complaint about a sport where even the announcers are surprised when scoring happens.

Basketball is exciting because every single score is because a plan or play succeeded (or any time someone doesn't score it means the defender's did). I don't think I've ever heard a basketball fan say they watch basketball because the scores are higher, and I don't think I've ever seen them get any more worked up about high-scoring games...
 
I stopped watching all sports really. Mainly due to having awful home teams for decades. I love baseball the most though, because I played it forever.

If your football team scores a touchdown everyone gets excited. If your basketball team scores a basket no one gets excited. Plus the last 2 minutes take an hour because people start fouling on fucking purpose. That's retarded.

Exactly, it was a continuation of my point. The score of a game in a real sport* doesnt tell you how good the game was.

Well, ironically, except for a blowout. A 110-32 basketball game probably sucked. Ditto with a 12-0 hockey, soccer or baseball score, and a 70-7 NFL score.

It just annoys me how wrong the "low score = sucky game" logic is. Even worse is when it comes from someone that actually watches sports. If they take half a second to think about what they're saying, they can realize how wrong they are.

*Fake sports, like golf or hockey do have very relevant score to quality ratios. Obviously, bowling a 300 is excellent.

The college basketball final was on at the same time as 24. I watched part of the game during commercials. So, there are 40 seconds left, but I switch to 24. 24 aired an 8 minute segment before the next commercial break, I switched back and the basketball game was at 4 seconds left :lol

9 minutes to play 36 seconds. WTF.

The only good basketball is March Madness. College teams with an upset every now and then. NBA is boring as shit, enjoy La/Cavs/Bos once again with tons of series going 7.

Hockey kicks ass. Brb moving to Canada.
 
I remember when I was younger I saw some of my sister's field hockey games and like every 2 minutes there would be a "dangerous play" stoppage. :lol

Also you can only hit the ball with on side of the stick, which is stupid.

Basketball owns when you watch a kickass match every once in a while where it's like NBA Jam but IN REAL LIFE, MAN. When it becomes totally insane and exciting and stuff.

This. I don't care if Ronabo watches stuff tho (that's why we have 'His and Hers' tv's in the living room, so his watching doesn't disrupt anything else I want to do in any way).
 
I don't watch any sports now, but the only one I used to watch and enjoy was rugby. It was great because they didn't stop the play every ten seconds to reset positions and take timeouts for nineteen hours and shit.

I've done 1-1,1-2,2-1,3-1,4-1 and 5-1 and maybe I just need to farm for more souls but shit keeps kicking my ass so then I get more and more pissed, which makes me play worst, I lose patience and die even more.

Yea I'm gonna do that tonight, I just need enough souls to learn evacuate. It's not gonna matter anyways. Goty comes out tomorrow, so I probably won't play for awhile.

It's more of a general comparison, as in "4 players join forces to raid on zones for fabulous prizes" but how they get there couldn't be more different.

I'm not sure if I can really justify buying MH3 right now, but I do know that I want it based on how much fun I had with MH1 on the PS2. Being in the beta for that really sold me on the series.

Watching vids of MHTri and all I see are people running up to single, large monsters and stabbing 'em in the ass over and over again for like 10 minutes. :/

The game could have been released at the height of the PS2's popularity and it still wouldn't have sold what it deserved. I know this because that's exactly what happened with MH1. MH has and never will be a mainstream success outside of Japan.

It could be huge on HD consoles but they're shit scared of it tanking too hard in Japan, which is fucking ludicrous given their market shrink since HD hit.

You'd be surprised how hard that can be in most cases. The game requires a lot of coordination between party members to maximize damage.

MH3 sold better than both PS2 games combined. Sure, a million is small potatoes when you compare them to what the PSP games do over there, but a million for any game on a console in Japan these days is a triumph.

That said, MH3 would not do better on the 360 or PS3; the concept and gameplay is way too difficult for normal gamers to understand and can't really be shown off in such a way as to make it enticing. The only way MH would ever do serious numbers in the West is if it played like God of War and that's not what MH is about.

Buillshit, if stuff like Demon's Souls can pull in respectable numbers on a single platform then a cross platform release with some decent marketing could easily make it worth their while financially. Superior online means a superior experience out of the box. None of this "hope you have at least 2 extra peripherals around otherwise this is going to be worthless" bollocks they're pulling with the Wii version.

I'd be day one on MH3 if it was on one of the HD consoles. Game looks awesome and the one I played on PSP was awesome. It's a shame really, it's going to bomba hard on the Wii.
 
Yo I was wondering if anyone wanted to do a RB podcast for my site. it won't have me in it but I figure it went so well when we did that GAF Cast it shouldn't be hard to get one together.
