Having less of a barrier of entry as far as peripherals are concerned does not change the fact that MH is a game where the expression "instant gratification" is about as foreign a concept that you can get. I mean, you have something like Phantasy Star Universe on the 360 that did nothing and that's a substantially easier game to get into. The online aspect has never been the issue with the series not taking off; the difficulty curve of starting at the equivalnt of veering into a brick wall at 100 mph with your driving wheel being made of Jello, on the other hand, is the real culprit. Also, there is no way in hell that Demon's Souls surprisingly OK sales were not the result of SDF entitlement issues.

Besides, the HD systems are getting Lost Planet 2 to fill that void.

If Capcom were watching and did a MH on HD consoles I would make a $50 bet that MH would easily cruise past a million sales on HD. ALAS WE WILL NEVER KNOW.

Also Podcast... I am down for that action.

There would have been initial offsets due to R&D and advertising though.
Not much. They just took the left over Mylo shells and stuck PSP hardware in it. I doubt it cost them anything.

And from then they've been selling about 1,000 a week in Japan, at the amazingly huge price. I'm sure they made up that cost real fast, and now are just making pure profit off the thing.

i love my PSP GO but i bought it for $190 so that helped, SONY doesnt release shit for it though. Right now i have Lunar,MLB 10, and a few PS1 games on it.....its slim pickings kinda on the sony store for it.

I haven't run into a single problem with finding games to play on my Go. There are tons on games on the store, and there's only like 1 or 2 that I would like to have up there that aren't.

I'm spinning nothing. If something makes a profit for a business, is it not considered a success?
Because the aIm of the PSP Go wasn't just to sell half a dozen units and make some money, it was supposed to give Sony a super profitable DD business as well as sell significantly more than it did. Not losing money doesn't mean it's not a failure, and we don't even know if they have made a profit.

PSPgo failed because the price is shit but I think they released it to test the DD waters and to get gamers and companies more interested in the PSP software and PSN, I think they kinda succeeded in that area.

I would say they failed quite hard on your second point.

Like I mentioned, the problem is that nothing sold on the PSP before the Go was introduced and they sure as hell haven't improved their standing since. Sony needs a PSP2 approximately 1,000,000,000 times more than Nintendo needs a 3DS.

All the PSP2 needs:

-Higher res screen
-BC with downloaded PSP games
-A second analog nub
-Huge HDD
-No UMD drive

Anything else would be gravy. I mean, it would be nice to have a better UI, so I could maybe use the thing as a music player, but whatever really.

I don't think a PSP2 would help. They should just let the PSP die and stop wasting money on it.

It's sold more than all of Nintendo's former handheld competitors combined and it's outsold the likes of the N64, Gamecube and the original Xbox; not to mention that it got very profitable for them very shortly into its lifespan. It was definitely a viable alternative to whatever Nintendo was offering at the time, but the software problem happened and it's never recovered from that stigma. A PSP2 is the only thing they can to improve their fortunes in the handheld sector, which they've shown no signs of abandoning any time soon. Hell, I'd be mad if they quit; the PSP lit a fire under Nintendo's butt and we got the awesome DS library to show for it. Nintendo needs the competition; we need the competition.

I doubt a PSP2 would sell hardware or software for that matter. Seems like everyone interested in handhelds has a DS now.

Anyone know how CTW did on PSP compared to the DS version?

Tell that to Japan, who buy a new kind of handheld no matter what.

It sold worse on UMD, and we do not have the number of the DD version. But we can most likely assume that it sold: iPhone > DS > PSP

People also forget how insanely successful the PSP is in Japan. How bad the US PSP market is, is far out-shined by how amazing it's Japanese market is.

Do we have solid iPhone numbers for CW? I know the DS version at least cleared 200k, which seems like a very good number for M-rated DS third party software.

That's a lot of qualifiers!

I meant on the PSN store, the likes of Sega and Capcom are happy with the PSN PSP sales from what I read. Also Sony got gamers interested again in old games thanks to the DD attack on the store. I don't think people would've cared as much to check them out if it wasn't for the PSPgo and the whole 1st of October PSN update.

No offense, but I think anyone would be happy with sales when there's very little overhead beyond pressing a button to make it available on PSN. :D

I still feel bad for Lumines not being available on the PSN. Stupid licensing issues.

wut

That's the worst of the first six Sabbath albums.

Am I Going Insane is the only slightly ropey track on it. Hole in the Sky and Symptom of the Universe are two of Sabbath's best songs. Megalomania, Supertzar and The Writ are all amazing as well. Saying it's the worst of the first six isn't much of a diss because all of those albums are classics.

Sabotage may or may not be their best album but it's my personal favourite which is why I want it in Rock Band.
