Rock Band Platform |OT|

Do you guys just use it for streaming and that's it? I think there's a lot of good stuff on Instant Watch, but there's also a lot of stuff that's only available on disc as well.
 
I rarely stream. The only thing I've watched recently is Party Down S2 because I lost starz in my cable package.

Edit: 2.0 audio really pisses me off.

Absolutely. The main reason I got it was for the streaming. The discs are an added bonus.

I used to be really good about my movies. Buy it, watch it that night, and return it the next day.
 
I spent all day today thinking about the Lost finale damn


and i dont think ill ever be able to watch it again. The ending just killed me.
 
From a massive interview of EA's Dave DeMartini...only one Rock Band related question was asked:

You're still publishing Rock Band games. Will EA Partners still be involved in that franchise in future considering the state of the music game market?

Obviously Rock Band: Green Day is coming - starring one of the most popular brands in the history of music. The popular misnomer is to say the music category is shrinking.

If you normalise the category to just look at software sales, the category is actually growing by around 30 to 35 per cent year-on-year. The problem is that once people have bought plastic, they don't need to keep buying plastic so they're not buying bundles - now they're just buying individual SKUs.

That's a really healthy business and certainly one we want to participate with. The best studio in the world at making music games is Harmonix. It seems like some of our competitors are actually getting out of their way, which is all the better for us.

It's a very compelling segment which has been birthed and I don't think is going anywhere anytime soon. But you can only pile up so much plastic, right? There's also an opportunity for other experiences utilising the plastic.

You may see someone - not mentioning any names - coming out with something that utilises the guitar and the drums for things that aren't necessarily a music-playing experience... but perhaps associated with music.

Mine isn't showing up until tomorrow. I forgot to swap Prime shipping to overnight. Plus it got stuck in limbo in Indiana all weekend...

I loved the first one so I'm sure I'll love this one too. Good to hear that the estimated delivery date is probably wrong. I did standard shipping so it should be here by this week. Even if it does come on June 1st I'll just go play some of the first one again if I get the itch.

Only the ending of Six Feet Under made me cry more. My top three series endings are The Shield, Six Feet Under and Lost. I can't decide the order.

And I have to agree with Dave the dislike
of organized religion doesn't mean you can't appreciate an ending that makes use of an afterlife. Even if I don't believe in one I found the fact that they all got to see each other again to be a brilliant plot device. I don't believe in smoke monsters either but I didn't hate that.

And anyone hating on a lack of answers, I can only surmise, doesn't really understand the show. The show has always been a character study with mysteries and crazy shit happening as a way to drive the plot and put obstacles in the paths of the characters. Everything big has been answered. A lot of answers were given in subtle ways which translates much much better in a medium like Television of Film. Slap you in the face answers are always terrible and cheesy and take everything fun out of the show. And everything I liked about the mystery of Lost is never really knowing for sure and constantly guessing. I like that they ended it that way as well a little bit. But again it's always been about the characters.

I've still not seen the last season of Six Feet Under. I watched it religiously for years but somehow just ended up missing the final season. I have it on DVD, but I'm still sorta hoping for a Blu Ray :(

And totally agree on Lost. Obviously I understand people being a bit pissy about the lack of clarification on certain mysteries, but I think they're more interested in being able to pick apart the show than they are in actually getting the answers. Getting an answer isn't fun. Getting hints about an answer is.

And how can anyone hate The Shield, Baker? It's damn near perfection.

While I agree about the answers being better not told directly, I just feel like I didn't get the full closure I wanted. And yes, I do like picking apart the mythology. Especially since the way it was presented was interesting to me.

I have never watched Lost, so I don't know if the finale was good, but The Wire series finale was one of the best ever. Can't really think of a better modern one.

Don't get me wrong, I look forward to the DVD containing more info on some things. And I hope the Encyclopaedia they're releasing (pre-ordered 3 months ago :D) has some cool stuff too. But I certainly don't define the show by these mysteries. I mean, come on, I have a Twin Peaks avatar.

That's just Lucas being Lucas. It most certainly was unnecessary to anything, really. All ya gotta say is "it's magic" and BOOM!, It works.

That's right. I forgot about all of that stuff. I'm going to refrain from re-watching the show until I get the full series boxset. Hoping they add a lot of missing information. Especially since from what I've gleaned from other people, that a bit of stuff was removed from the end.

Again, I still really think the ending was really a good solid ending when so many series finales suck.

Wasn't the whole point of the show to figure out the mysteries? You can't turn around and say 'wizard did it' without looking like a hypocrite.
 
The only thing that sorta irritated me about the finale was
that the thing keeping the island safe was an actual cork and not just a metaphor.
