Since I'm back home for the weekend, I can finally put some work into beating some RB1 scores. That's right bradders, that means that all the high scores you've beaten me on are finished. And I'm taking RB1 with me to my residence, but since the internet provided blocks connections from consoles, it's pretty much gonna be the permanent party game at my neighbors room.

And is it still possible to order the drum rocker? If so how much is the shipping cost to Canada, and how long would it take for them to ship it to Toronto?

They won't be on the store? Is there proof behind that? My assumption would be that a redemption code will give you those 20 songs for free but they will still let you BUY the songs if you don't want to buy Rock Band 2.
Yep. Why wouldn't Harmonix release the songs in the music store? It's free money for them, and you'd have to download them anyway.

Because calling them "Rock Band 2 tracks" as opposed to "Rock Band DLC" enables them to say Rock Band 2 has the biggest soundtrack of any game EVA. That'd be my guess.

I should stick to my principles and refuse to buy any of their DLC though, so all this means nothing.

I picked up a Bass and it's pretty cool. The only problem with it is the downstrum doesn't work. I'm 95% sure that it's not intentional so I'm taking it back in a couple of days (fucking hurricane) and probably getting a replacement plan on a new one.

No, that's definitely not intentional. Surprised to hear that, since mine has been working the entire day no matter how I play it.

Kind of doesn't make sense when they haven't pushed any of the bonus tracks during their marketing of the game though, they just talked about what was on the disc. I understand it's great to have a sticker on the back of the box that says "20 free bonus tracks!" but it makes more sense to have them on the store, so that, by Rock Band 3 4 5 and 6, they're still soaking up cash from those songs.

I can agree with that logic. And I'd like to see it happen.

Side note: I'd like to be able to pick the default background music songs in Rock Band. I'm sick of hearing Epic, Seven and...that other one. "C'MON TAKE MAH HAAANNND AND FOLLOW...".

I wish.

Belgand and Mewthree would both do something disastrous, so no.

Actually, no. I'm planning on getting it eventually and while it's a long wait that's being made unpleasant by everyone else going on about RB2 I could easily deal with. I haven't managed to make it through all the DLC that's currently out that I have yet plus I have a ton of other games that need my time. Seriously, I've got the Metal Gear Essential set (not to mention Twin Snakes which I never finished), Bully, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Persona 3: FES, Digital Devil Saga 2 (need to finish the first one) and Sly 2 just sitting on my shelf totally unplayed. Ratchet and Clank Future finally just shipped from Amazon yesterday. And I've only barely even started on Uncharted and Assassin's Creed. Not to mention the tons of PS2, GC, and PC games I need to finish.

If you want to get even worse I have a backlog going back to SNES and even NES in a few cases.

I'm certainly not going to complain about having to wait a little bit longer. If anything I wish some of the games scheduled to be coming out this season were pushed back another six months at least. I just don't have the time and I don't even have a job.

Just because it's content that is downloaded doesn't mean it needs any of your sass-mouth.

That is one of the most painfully asshattish things I've heard in a while. Way to go university IT staff, you fucked over college students doing an incredibly basic thing and managed to keep them restricted from the rest of society and culture. I can't imagine what it would be like if they blocked PC games somehow. Thankfully I moved off campus just before they started being complete douchenozzles when I was in school. They started forcing you to install the anti-virus software they wanted and bring in your system to have them check it over or something. Of course there was no Linux support initially, IIRC. Always nice that dealing with the raping you usually get from commercial providers is actually better than university service. My dorm had such terrible clogging that it was always incredibly slow aside from maybe an hour or two around 4 AM. We were actually the single worst building on campus from what I recall of the logs.

Explain this to me.

Rock Band 2 being region locked and me not having a UK release date to look forward to = nerd rage and reluctance to support involved companies.

God, the Start is so annoying. I just played Ridin' On The Wind, and I'm fairly sure I only got a gold because of the Strat; those frets being right next to each other and sliding being easy made it's solos much more do-able. But then I played Saints of Los Angeles, and I can't alt strum for shit on the thing.

I like Flyleaf, so shut it. With that said, when I read your line without the context, I thought of "I'm about to break"... wow I really do have to play Linkin Park AND Panic at the Disco in this one, don't I? Oh well.

to get people to purchase rb2?
There's still 84 other songs on the disc, other game-related enhancements, and you'd be getting the 20 other songs for free as opposed to paying $40 (assuming they're not bundled in a discounted pack) without getting RB2.

We'll likely know tomorrow regardless, so bickering about it tonight is a little frivolous.

I really need help here. Since I'm living on campus I have to send the drum rocker there, but I have no idea what to put into the box that says address 1. Here's what my University says to do for mailing addresses:

Your Name
Your Room # and Residence Building
York University
4700 Keele Street
Toronto, ON M3J 1P3
Canada

So how would I be able to translate that to the adress boxes for the drum rocker website?

They block pretty much anything gaming related. That includes PC gaming servers. When I play Counter strike source, on a good day maybe 20 or so servers will show up when there should really be closer to 5000 or so servers. It doesn't stop my ability to play, but it does make it really annoying. Gaming online with a console is absolutely impossible though.

Statistically they'll give it up pretty easily eventually and without following safer-sex guidelines in the slightest.

There's always that fine line between repressed girls who turn out to be incredibly dirty because of their repression, repressed girls who are just incredibly frigid because they're still pretty damn repressed, and the small number who actually believe wholeheartedly and stick to their convictions.

They call themselves a christian rock band, yet I'm So Sick's lyrics are:
I will break into your thoughts
With what's written on my heart
I will break, break

I'm so sick, infected with
Where I live
Let me live without this
Empty bliss, selfishness
I'm so sick
I'm so sick

If you want more of this
We can push out, sell out, die out
So you'll shut up
And stay sleeping
With my screaming in your itching ears

I'm so sick, infected with
Where I live
Let me live without this
Empty bliss, selfishness
I'm so sick
I'm so sick

Hear it, I'm screaming it
You're heeding to it now
Hear it, I'm screaming it
You tremble at this sound

You sink into my clothes
This invasion makes me feel
Worthless, hopeless, sick

I'm so sick, infected with
Where I live
Let me live without this
Empty bliss, selfishness
I'm so, I'm so sick

I'm so sick, infected with
Where I live
Let me live without this
Empty bliss, selfishness
I'm so (I'm so)
I'm so sick (I'm so sick)
I'm so (I'm so)
I'm so sick (I'm so sick)
lol.

Yeah, they are really terrible.

After watching that video of the guy needing to sock mod the brand new RB2 drums I have shifted focus onto the ion.

O. M. G.

They feel so good. The whole thing summed up in a word is sturdy. I hate to say this, but I felt like an adult playing an adult's game with them, vs. the feeling of the stock drums and the kiddie look and feel. They just exude quality, and I help you feel the part just that little bit more. The pads have much more bounce, and makes drum rolls more natural.

Riding the high-hat or reaching across and slamming the cymbol is an absolute rush. Still settling into the set and getting the pads placed where I want them, I'm about half way to where I want them (still hitting the sides of some pads in panic moments). And the pedal is like 10x better then the default rock pedal, but I still prefer the omega pedal to all of them. I will be running out tomorrow to get the (2 dollar) adapter I need to use my custom pedal on the kit.

Biggest negative on the ion kit is the xbox controller section, specifically --- the dpad. It's actually worse then the dpads on the 360 pads, something I didnt think was possible.
Getting through the blades on the xbox dashboard was particularly hilarious, though in-game there is very little 4 way navigation (just up and down, or left and right) so its less of a problem then it sounds.

Oh and by the way, they are quiet as hell!

That's the best I can think of. When I was in college we didn't have a street address, you just put in the name of the University first and then your room and hall as the second field.

Ow. That's really, really painful. Is it some kind of pissy bitch "The internet is itended for academic use only" sort of crap? Because I honestly can't see how that crap could even remotely fly these days. I matriculated in '99 so people were still in the middle of moving from dial-up to broadband in large numbers. It was also, unfortunately, when Napster was still initially big so that caused all sorts of crap. Mainly it sucked down my bandwidth (I don't pirate anything) because they didn't entirely know how to deal with it yet.

Christian girls are the hottest. I hate my stupid atheist girlfriend.

Speaking anecdotally most of the girls in the atheist group I was involved in at college were both very hot and much kinkier. The party where two girls started going down on one another in the middle of the room? That was one of that group's parties. Actually, having great parties was the predominant theme of what we did.

Of course at another party one of the guys there was fairly average in looks, but was still a virgin at 25 not for lack of trying. He hit it off pretty well with a girl there and things were going well all night. Around about 6-7 AM or so when the party was winding down and the people who weren't helping to clean up were going home (I think I finally got out of there at 6 PM or so... only time I've been at a party for over 24 hours) the girl asked him if he wanted to come back to her place for a nap. The thing is, the party was at his place and she damn well knew this. He still somehow turned her down despite being otherwise into her and definitely not the sort of person who would be averse to some casual sex. I still cannot comprehend this to this day. That, friends, is how you're still a virgin at 25 when you don't particularly want to be.

Stories like this are why I need better friends. Parties round here predominantly consist of "go to x's house till 11, go out to clubs, get home at 4". There's no fun in that. And little chance of public displays of girls going down on oneanother.

My Ion's came today as well. These are very accurate impressions. My d-pad was fine though, *much* better than my RB1 drums where I had to use a crapload of force to get it to activate.

It's pretty late here, and I live in an apartment, so I was literally tapping (not hitting) the drums and *everything* was getting picked up.

I've gone from 90%'ing songs due to crappy RB1 drums + felt mod to 97%-99%, where the missing 1-3% is 100% my fault.

Oh, that was one of the only really interesting things to happen to me in college. Especially after moving across the country I basically have two friends: one who just moved out here that I used to know in college and another friend who is almost always busy with something else.

I don't even go to other people's houses really and since I don't drink or dance I don't go to clubs. My girlfriend also tends to go to bed fairly early (like, 10 PM early) and has little to no interest in music.

College was the last time I was around fun people who made irresponsible choices with alcohol. The last time I could leave a friend's house to go pick someone up and find that, upon returning, everyone was sitting around watching porn in mixed company and I got shushed for talking in the middle of it.

The trick is knowing someone who knows other fun, cool people and throws good parties as a result. Those are the times when your girlfriend makes out with other ladies on a pool table. Or when a barely 18 year-old kid is able to have a bunch of scary looking guys in some thrash metal band come hang around in his parent's basement for his graduation party on a Saturday night.

I can't believe I ever managed to know any of these people.

I'd put your room and building into address #1 and the school and street address into #2 if the school informed you to put your room number and building first. It's a bit of a kludge, but it ought to work well enough.

On a totally unrelated topic this video of Steview Wonder playing "Superstition" on Seasame Street in 1972 has been filling up the tubes as of late. While it would be perhaps a bit repetitive on guitar there simply has to be a way to get this into the game. It's just too funky not to be there. If you can play it and say "meh" then you have no soul (literally and figuratively... well, actually not literally, but in two distinctly different figurative ways). I mean, I knew it was a great song before, but this came along just as I was in the mind of Rock Band and well... I now must have it.

And on a sort of unrelated note, what is address 2, 3, etc. supposed to be used for anyway? I've never had to fill them in, in my entire life.

If there's a three then use 2 for that for the University and put the street address on 3.

These are for, well, people who live in apartments or have things delivered to offices and such where you have to provide more than just a street address. I've been filling out both address fields since, well, since I went to college up until the present where I'm living in an in-law apartment (i.e. an apartment created by subdividing a house. Typically the basement/garage/street level. Far, far shittier than a duplex and very common in San Francisco.) and all the mail for the house just comes unsorted into the mail slot in the garage.

If you can afford it, and are going to use it, they are easily worth it.
Another mini-negative of the ion drums.. the foot pedal has this weird clicky sound that I don't like. Of course, it helps you keep the beat much better than the stock pedal but it is still inferior to the omega pedal and its mighty hammer. Don't let anyone try and tell you the destroyer pedal is equal or better either.. the hammer on the omega pedal gives it the edge over all your pedal options.

Another nice thing I've found with the ion is that the sides swing in and the cymbals slide in pretty nicely. Makes it only a bit wider/deeper than the standard drums when it comes to storage. Of course, height isn't easily adjustable for storage..

I had no luck getting the game. Even the smaller stores have it locked up tighter than a frog's asshole. They're so paranoid that they won't sell the instruments, even though they streeted today.

Bass is the third column from the left, with the foot icon at the bottom. Double bass starts fifteen seconds in. The spacing looks sorta similar to Rock Band, but he has hyperspeed set pretty high.

Question on the ION kit, for someone who knows what pads they use. Do they register rim hits?
Obviously not for RB2 (as it's not designed to understand them) but when I connect the Alesis, I'd like to know that the control is there.

Last question.

What do I enter under billing information? Is it simply where I want the bill to be sent?(First time using a credit card)
