Don't forget about the 20 free dlc tracks that are yet to be announced.
I'd imagine those go up sunday. :D
I read on scorehero that the free dlc wont be released in till next month (to be released with PS3 version )

I agree, most of th DLC this entire year has been too metal heavy. A lot of the alt rock stuff in RB 1 is great and they totally failed to deliver in that aspect, other than a song here or there. I've been really generally disappointed in DLC for RB1. I mean, its great for all the metal lovers but geez...over kill.

This 'platform' nitpicking (and you really aren't the only one) has become silly. Harmonix is putting out an 84 song track pack for $60, which also includes major upgrades to the game. It just has a physical delivery instead of a digital one. They've kept Rock Band a 'platform' by having nearly every track of music carry over, be it on or off the disk, and by not introducing new game design that won't work with the old instruments.

I don't recall any bitching about how Doolittle was broken up between DLC and on-disc content.

Do I really need to point out the difference with Doolittle?

I didn't really expect anything that big this week. That will be saved for the week Rock Band 2 hits PS3 & Wii (Aren't they doing dlc for the Wii now?)
I don't necessarily know why they'd save DLC for the other two consoles' launches but I can see why they wouldn't release anything good this weekend. Everyone that picks up RB2 will have more than enough great stuff to play so they wouldn't bother checking out DLC when they probably haven't even unlocked all the songs.

Still, it woulda been nice for those outside NA to get something worthwhile to play since RB2 is no within their reach.

Can't wait for those. I doubt they'd release those Sunday though, you'd think they'd announce their plans to do so today (when they normally announce DLC). That said, it would be the most awesome surprise if they pulled it off.

HMX, the only way I'll forgive you for the stream of shit you released recently is:

Yes, please do. Someone goes to the store today, they've heard about this 'Rock Band is a platform' thing and they decide to pick up Rock Band 2. They go online, see Doolittle, and download it. Only to learn that it's missing a track.

So...how is that different from the guy buying Rock Band 1 and downloading Peace Sells?

RB2 is not out in Europe.. I think thats his pt.. he doesnt have the choice to transfer the track over from RB1 by paying 5 bucks

So i have an incomplete version of RB2 for a month then?
My favorite part is that there will be the group of people who have bouht RB2, and, in the coming month, will lose or discard that code. When the 20 tracks finally go up, there'll be a flood of "I CAN'T FIND MY CODE! HELP!" posts, followed by accusations of theft, and then Harmonix having to come up with some convoluted verification method.

Brand New, it's not in the Marketplace, it's in the options menu of Rock Band 1.

That's a different, shitty issue altogether. Europe is being screwed left and right on this one, but it has nothing to do with on disk tracks vs DLC content.
Unfortunately, Harmonix doesn't have much control over the Europe thing, that is purely a publisher move.

I know, isn't it awesome?

then I could always bring up the fact that it's still not Opeth.

I would however like there to be more non metal to keep it even. and then opeth.

there's so many styles of metal that haven't even been touched. POWER METAL ANYONE?

I'll vote for some Sabaton.

WHAT THE FUCK

MORE METAL?

GOD FUCKING DAMMIT HARMONIX
Yeah. It's getting pretty bad, but realize it sells well because people want HARDCORE OMG SO HARD songs.

The game needs more country music. 2 Lynyrd songs ain't enough.

BrandNew said:
Well that's inconvenient, why not just put it on the marketplace? Odd.
It makes sense if the transfer key contains links to something else, like maybe in 2010 they'll put the RB1 songs up for download as DLC, and if you have the key then you can just redownload them. In that case, forcing people to have a copy of the disc (at least once) to get the key adds a layer of hassle in preventing people from just buying the key.

Or maybe it's so they can throw more EULA-esque info at you prior to transfer that wouldn't fit in the marketplace.

Just in time. Freaking Foreplay kicked my ass. But its done :p

Hooray Peace Sells DLC! I am absolutely down with that. Still, segmenting the album like that, even if it's just one song, is really lame.

Country and CLASSIC rock. OMG PLEASE

In spite of the new instruments I'll be picking up with the game, I'm thinking of doing lots of Expert Vox as soon as I have my hands on the disc. Probably because I've been listening to these songs on and off in my MP3 player for the past 2 months. o_O

"EVER SINCE I WAS A YOUNG BOY, I PLAYED THE SILVER BALL!"

...from Soho down to Brighton I must've played them all!

Man, that movie was weird.

Wow, Rock Band Tour pack is awesome. Long hairs will hate it, but that's great.

One of Those Nights, The Cab
Hands Down, Dashboard Confessional
She's a Handsome Woman, Panic at the Disco
Natural Disaster, Plain White T's

Could have picked a better Panic song though :(

I'm with you, while I think of it more as my guilty pleasures, and I agree they could have picked a better Panic song. That's probably my least favorite one from the newest cd. I always have the most fun singing these type of songs.

The last time we got any sort of classic rock was the Who pack, two months ago. I really hope they're adding some with the free 20 songs, and it's all not just modern shit.

I think we'll at least get one Lynyrd song since they already have two as DLC, and RB2 has no Lynyrd and requires three songs for band challenges.

how the heck does this thread grow so fast? I left it was on page 75 now it's on 84. And since I read every page....sheesh.

got a problem: with these patches I now have a LP that plays better on RB than the strat and a strat that plays better on GH:A than the LP. What the hell do I do until the new guitars come out? I'm thinking of keeping the LP since I'm going to play RB more often than GH:A.

Anyone want to pay for shipping for a strat that has the ByteArts fix but no tilt in RB? (tilt works fine in GH:A, wth?)

For an "Official" thread the original post is pretty devoid of useful information.

Are there any first week sales deals going on with this game? Or am I looking at $60 wherever I buy?

Well, when Doolittle came out, every single person who could buy it had Wave of Mutilation. It wasn't an issue. Now, I think its stupid that a new Rock Band 2 owner can get the game, see Doolittle for sale, and not get the full album. Everybody here has just assumed they will add Wave to the pack for Rock Band 2 owners that need it, which is the only logical choice.

The thing that bugs me is that a few months ago, Harmonix said there is no Rock Band 1 or Rock Band 2 DLC, just Rock Band DLC. Then about a month ago they announced 6 full albums for Rock Band. Not "Rock Band 2". Rock Band. There is no full album DLC for me. And Peace Sells is the one song off that album I really like.

You best not mean country as in garth brooks-ish material.

This is not country band.

country is not rock.

lynard skynard is cool, but dear god, nothing more towards country than that.

just no. oh god.. I'm going to pass out.

Because that is their way of verifying that you have a valid disc. The songs are copied off the disc also, so it might as well be in the game.

You get a free t-shirt if you buy it at Gamestop. That's the best deal I've seen so far :P

How would they work the release of a song already on the disc if you can already screw yourself by downloading the same song twice. Would it just sense that you have RB1 in the system and add a song to download, how would the pricing change? There are too many variables and as much as you want to bitch about it, the way they have it set up is the most viable option for DLC that ties into on disc songs.

The best option? Start releasing albums from artists that have no songs that are also on the disc. Like ALL the songs are new... that sounds pretty swell right there.

...it's not hard. On the 360 marketplace, there's two sections, one for Rock Band, one for Rock Band 2. The Rock Band section has the full album pack including Peace Sells, and costs 100-200 points more than the album in the Rock Band 2 section costs. They also stick a stand alone "Peace Sells" single up with the rest of the tracks.

There's no excuses for it. And they've intentionally done this to fuck over Rock Band 1 owners; Colour And The Shape isn't going to be a full album for Rock Band 1 owners, neither is the Jane's Addiction one. I can't even remember the rest, but I bet we're getting fucked with them too.

Then they should sell Peace Sells for 1 Microsoft dollar then. Dave is right - Harmonix are focusing their DLC around their releases in America and expecting every other region to just accept it.

But whenever you finally get RB2 you'd have bought the song twice. People who don't know better will download their favorite RB2 tracks for 1 and when they finally do upgrade be stuck with a bunch of stuff they already have. It's obvious they want people to upgrade to RB2 and that's why they're not going to release songs from that disc on dlc since they want people to buy RB2. I think this is more of a case of you being upset you don't have Rock Band 2 yet but still want the songs than anything (which is obvious and you've said but still =P)

At least give me the option! I know Peace Sells (the song) is on Rock Band 2. Whether or not I want to buy it or not is a decision I am fully equipped to evaluate.

The problem isn't that I want Rock Band 2 (which I do, obviously, but I'll live without it) but it's the complete asshole nature in which they're releasing full albums now, where unless you buy the latest version of their game, you ain't getting a full album. It's completely fucked up, and totally against their entire pitch way back when.

It isn't that he wants RB2 but doesn't have it, it's that he (and I) want the full album DLC but literally have no way to get the full album unless we buy a game that we have no way of buying.

Dave's idea would work and, if it would lead to multiple copies of songs then simply let players delete individual songs from the HDD once there is a duplicate.
