AMUSIX said:This 'platform' nitpicking (and you really aren't the only one) has become silly. Harmonix is putting out an 84 song track pack for $60, which also includes major upgrades to the game. It just has a physical delivery instead of a digital one. They've kept Rock Band a 'platform' by having nearly every track of music carry over, be it on or off the disk, and by not introducing new game design that won't work with the old instruments.
I don't recall any bitching about how Doolittle was broken up between DLC and on-disc content.
I don't necessarily know why they'd save DLC for the other two consoles' launches but I can see why they wouldn't release anything good this weekend. Everyone that picks up RB2 will have more than enough great stuff to play so they wouldn't bother checking out DLC when they probably haven't even unlocked all the songs.Eric Hall said:I didn't really expect anything that big this week. That will be saved for the week Rock Band 2 hits PS3 & Wii (Aren't they doing dlc for the Wii now?)
Can't wait for those. I doubt they'd release those Sunday though, you'd think they'd announce their plans to do so today (when they normally announce DLC). That said, it would be the most awesome surprise if they pulled it off.Dirtbag 504 said:Don't forget about the 20 free dlc tracks that are yet to be announced.

Yes, please do. Someone goes to the store today, they've heard about this 'Rock Band is a platform' thing and they decide to pick up Rock Band 2. They go online, see Doolittle, and download it. Only to learn that it's missing a track.TheGreatDave said:Do I really need to point out the difference with Doolittle?

So...how is that different from the guy buying Rock Band 1 and downloading Peace Sells?
BrandNew said:Okay, I'm confused, how can we export our Rock Band 1 tracks? I read the little info on wikipedia, but I see no option in the marketplace to do so.
My favorite part is that there will be the group of people who have bouht RB2, and, in the coming month, will lose or discard that code. When the 20 tracks finally go up, there'll be a flood of "I CAN'T FIND MY CODE! HELP!" posts, followed by accusations of theft, and then Harmonix having to come up with some convoluted verification method.Grecco said:So i have an incomplete version of RB2 for a month then?
That's a different, shitty issue altogether. Europe is being screwed left and right on this one, but it has nothing to do with on disk tracks vs DLC content.sneaky77 said:RB2 is not out in Europe.. I think thats his pt.. he doesnt have the choice to transfer the track over from RB1 by paying 5 bucks

then I could always bring up the fact that it's still not Opeth.
I would however like there to be more non metal to keep it even. and then opeth.
there's so many styles of metal that haven't even been touched. POWER METAL ANYONE?

Yeah. It's getting pretty bad, but realize it sells well because people want HARDCORE OMG SO HARD songs.Costanza said:WHAT THE FUCK

It makes sense if the transfer key contains links to something else, like maybe in 2010 they'll put the RB1 songs up for download as DLC, and if you have the key then you can just redownload them. In that case, forcing people to have a copy of the disc (at least once) to get the key adds a layer of hassle in preventing people from just buying the key.BrandNew said:Well that's inconvenient, why not just put it on the marketplace? Odd.

The game needs more country music. 2 Lynyrd songs ain't enough.

Probably because I've been listening to these songs on and off in my MP3 player for the past 2 months.

The last time we got any sort of classic rock was the Who pack, two months ago. I really hope they're adding some with the free 20 songs, and it's all not just modern shit.rhfb said:Country and CLASSIC rock. OMG PLEASE

border said:For an "Official" thread the original post is pretty devoid of useful information.
Are there any first week sales deals going on with this game? Or am I looking at $60 wherever I buy?
TheGreatDave said:The thing that bugs me is that a few months ago, Harmonix said there is no Rock Band 1 or Rock Band 2 DLC, just Rock Band DLC. Then about a month ago they announced 6 full albums for Rock Band. Not "Rock Band 2". Rock Band. There is no full album DLC for me. And Peace Sells is the one song off that album I really like.
Affeinvasion said:How would they work the release of a song already on the disc if you can already screw yourself by downloading the same song twice. Would it just sense that you have RB1 in the system and add a song to download, how would the pricing change? There are too many variables and as much as you want to bitch about it, the way they have it set up is the most viable option for DLC that ties into on disc songs.
TheGreatDave said:...it's not hard. On the 360 marketplace, there's two sections, one for Rock Band, one for Rock Band 2. The Rock Band section has the full album pack including Peace Sells, and costs 100-200 points more than the album in the Rock Band 2 section costs. They also stick a stand alone "Peace Sells" single up with the rest of the tracks.
There's no excuses for it. And they've intentionally done this to fuck over Rock Band 1 owners; Colour And The Shape isn't going to be a full album for Rock Band 1 owners, neither is the Jane's Addiction one. I can't even remember the rest, but I bet we're getting fucked with them too.
cr_blah_blah said:But whenever you finally get RB2 you'd have bought the song twice. People who don't know better will download their favorite RB2 tracks for 1 and when they finally do upgrade be stuck with a bunch of stuff they already have. It's obvious they want people to upgrade to RB2 and that's why they're not going to release songs from that disc on dlc since they want people to buy RB2. I think this is more of a case of you being upset you don't have Rock Band 2 yet but still want the songs than anything (which is obvious but you've said but still =P)
