WAT

There are Walmarts everywhere, even in BFE Kansas.

I'm definitely doing the Walmart midnight launch though, I need to get some other things there as well, so it all works out.

Yeah, I used to live in BFE Kansas and for a long time Wal-Mart was one of those places where you had to buy a lot of shit because nothing else was around. Then we finally got a Target. Still, 24 hours is nice.

Living in SF, however, we don't have them. There aren't any in the city (Target either) and you have to drive a decent ways to get to them out in the suburbs. Just about nothing is 24 hours here either. Even finding late-night dining options is often rather tough. Which, well, kinda sucks coming from a college town where all the grocery stores were 24 hours and soon so were most of the fast food places (or at least, close enough).

Whereas New York has an issue with space the slightly bigger issue here (although space is equally bad if not worse in some cases) is that people loathe Wal-Mart and most chains in general. Many chains more or less don't exist here, especially chain restaurants.

That said on Monday LucasArts is having some big party for The Force Unleashed at the only Best Buy in the city. You'd think we'd have more big game release events what with the huge concentration of game studios and game media that we have up here.

So far my favorite track to play on Guitar is Bodhisattva by Steely Dan. It plays soooo much like Green Grass and High Tides.

Another thing. The 20 free songs seems like it will be for people who purchase RB2 only. On the back of the manual, there is a unique code that lets you redeem a token at rockband.com/bonustracks. It says that when you input the code from the manual, they will email you an xbox live token that you then use to be able to download the 20 free tracks when they are up.

The score tracking is definitely disappointing from what I've heard, but it's definitely not going to stop me from buying RB2.

There's always scorehero... =\

This may have been answered already, but it's so hard to keep up with this thread right now. Has anyone that has it tried that auto input leg detector thing? Actually, more importantly, can you even buy one yet?

I think it's only available built into the new wireless stratocasters.

That's what I was referring to. I guess that means they're not available yet then. Bogus. I think it's a big selling point for me since my LCD tv has horrendous input lag. Never could find the right calibration.

Yeah, the same on my LCD. I could get it playable and I beat expert guitar tour on it, but I always felt it could be better.

Only impressions I've seen or heard so far is on the 1up show. There's a link in the OP.

I went out today and bought 2nd hand PS3 GH3 + Guitar (only £45) and Rock Band by trading in some stuff I didn't want any more. I'm waiting for GH IV to pick up the whole band stuff but I was bored of my Wii GH3. I figured this would give me a way to play all the DLC out for GH and to play the Rock Band guitar stuff while I wait for World Tour (which would also eventually make my RB experience more complete!)

Thing is, I only bought this stuff because there was a line in the PSN Store thread this week saying that RB had been patched to work with GH guitars. Has this not happened in the UK yet? When I try and start the game in Quick Play or Tour Mode it just tells me to plug a mic in before I carry on!

Edit: Also, the guitar is just the official ps3 GH3 guitar. That should work, right? There's no way I'm sitting here singing into my PSEye :lol

Oh, well yeah.....but still, couldn't you just buy them off of XBL? Or are they more expensive on XBL than on that website?

Not without a US credit card AFAIK. I've been buying my points of eBay for a little cheaper though

Why not? The pictures I've seen still have the four color toms going across, just like the Rock Band drums....edit2: Hold on, the images at http://www.drumrocker.com/products/index.php are finalized, right? It looks like it'll be possible to hit those sections on the toms, just like you would on a regular set.
Which is why I said it doesn't work if you set it up like a real set. Yes, you can set the pads in the same symmetrical arc as the Rock Band set, but if you arrange them the way a drum set is arranged, doing 16ths on the red with yellow on 2 and 4 simply doesn't work.
It has to do with the travel time of raising the stick up to hit the yellow and then bringing it back down after the bounce (on a real set, this travel time between HH and snare is shorter, as you're effectively dropping the stick down, and using the bounce to spring it back up.

Really, this is purely an occasional thing, as it only applies to those few songs.

I asked blockbuster If I can get it today after midnight, because they close at 1:00 am, and she said yes. So hopefully I get it today. Otherwise, its tomorrow at 10:00 am..

I hear you man. I just moved out and the only TV in my name is this LCD one. It was great at home using the standard CRT with zero lag. Switching over to LCD just causes me to miss the easiest notes that not even a beginner should miss! Thank god it's just about new tv time.

Is it sad that input lag is my biggest concern when researching tvs? :lol

I jumped in today in order to get RB2 for me and the girl tomorrow; my only other systems are Wii, PS2 and handhelds. HD gaming here I come!

that loud clicky noise is the Ion's pedal. It makes a terribly loud clicking sound. I can't stand it.

Finally ordered something to fix my pedal today. Incredibly frustrated because I have a 360 copy of the game right here and yet I can't play it as I only own the instruments for PS3. >.>

One thing that does make me happy though is that I'm planning on eventually getting the new drums; after playing the Guitar Hero drums I feel for anyone who's going to try to play 85 songs on that thing.

He said he was using his Destroyer pedal. The camera mic was probably making it sound louder than it really was.

Been playing RB2 since yesterday.

I fucking love Rock Band. I was afraid of a lack of songs in the long-term when I started Rock Band 1, and now it almost feels daunting.

So, anyone with the game, do they have behind the scenes videos in the Extras menu?

I enjoyed the videos in GH2 and RB1, and even though I only watched them once, I'd like to see more.

11AM tomorrow :(

feels like so far away

at least you've got a new BluRay to watch and keep you busy until then.

I'll be all over this in the morning. Most likely won't be getting anything to go with it. The Guitar temps me a little, but not enough to really consider it.

I'm so conflicted as to whether or not to get the new RB2 wireless drum set. I hate the RB1 bass pedal and I know it's gonna break on me again (I'm on my 5th one).

Anyone know how much trade you can get for a RB1 drum set? Or do they even take those?

My EBgames just called me to say the the game and drums were in, but said they didn't get any guitars. WTF that is my most important item. How am I sapposed to perfectly calibrate my game now?

Has anybody seen the new guitars out in the wild yet?

They were supposed to ship alongside the drums this week, but I haven't seen them at any retailer thus far. I work at Best Buy and from what I can tell, there was a last minute delay on them. They should be in stores this week, but you never can tell. After dropping all that money on the drums and the P-Bass, I'll have to wait a bit on the guitar, but I sure do like being able to calibrate perfectly.

RB1 had videos? :(

You sir are awesome. I was convinced that I would have to wait until tomorrow morning since no Gamestop near me is doing a midnight release, and the closest 24 hour Walmart is 35 miles away. But your post reminded me that there's a Blockbuster close to me that's open until 1 AM on Saturdays, and they had one copy left to reserve. They said I can definitely pick it up tonight :D
