I went out today and bought 2nd hand PS3 GH3 + Guitar (only £45) and Rock Band by trading in some stuff I didn't want any more. I'm waiting for GH IV to pick up the whole band stuff but I was bored of my Wii GH3. I figured this would give me a way to play all the DLC out for GH and to play the Rock Band guitar stuff while I wait for World Tour (which would also eventually make my RB experience more complete!)

Thing is, I only bought this stuff because there was a line in the PSN Store thread this week saying that RB had been patched to work with GH guitars. Has this not happened in the UK yet? When I try and start the game in Quick Play or Tour Mode it just tells me to plug a mic in before I carry on!

Edit: Also, the guitar is just the official ps3 GH3 guitar. That should work, right? There's no way I'm sitting here singing into my PSEye :lol

The more I think about it, the more I honestly think Kissed a Girl would be a great song for Rock Band. I know it started out as joke first, but it would be great to play on the drums.

PS: It's Sunday, I am allowed to have a somewhat weird idea...

Anyway, as I get fairly deep into the tour, hyperspeed is really showing its worth. I pretty much had a mental block on Toxicity before, and barely managed four stars on guitar each time. First time through with hyperspeed, (came up in the Merch Girl set) I got 97% for five-stars, and was left thinking how much better I could do next time. This is after not sleeping for 25 hours, with no stimulants.

I'm fixated on unlocking everything right now. I have a really, really bad kit right now, too... so no.
 
Wow, Pinball Wizard blows on guitar. It's one of the most annoying charts in the franchise, and it was in a set with Little Sister, too. Ugh. Double whammy.
 
OK, I've managed to answer my question by heading to....of all places.... the Gamefaqs forums (shame on you Gaf for being outperformed :lol )

The upshot of it is PAL PS3 owners should not purchase Rock Band if they plan on using a Les Paul. The game has not been patched yet and EA can not confirm when, or even if, it will be patched.

I guess they want to leave it a few weeks, let people but the band in a box, then release the patch. I'm basically screwed myself - I have a fancy version of Singstar and the only microphone I own is an Eyetoy. If it's not patched in Thursday's PSN update, I'm taking it back

I was just at Best Buy trying to get the new instruments. Even though their inventory says they're in-stock, they say they don't have them. Ugh; off to another store...

The only time I've ever beat it was in the Endless Setlist, I had to call one of my friends in to handle the bass pedal. Without having to think about that the song became a bit easier.

It's still the only song that's keeping me from completing Hard. :\
 
I just picked up the game this morning.

I have to recommend Blockbuster for anyone trading in RB1. They gave me $32 for it which is absurd.

Well, I always said when the price was reasonable I'd join the party, so I picked up my PS3 copy of Rock Band this afternoon. Went PS3 because that way I'm good for importing RB2 if they take too long getting it out over here.

And it is, I sold my copy of RB1 on eBay for $25, and that's eBay. You're typically going to get the highest possible price for your games, at least compared to GameStop.

Due to the Rocky marathon the other night I named by band Rock You But not like Rocky V, Lo and Behold Eye of the Tiger was the first song (I didnt even know this song was in the game).

Whoa what the fuck!

I never saw ANYTHING that said there were drum solos in the game. that totally came out of nowhere! I figured I would have heard about this. I mean, I guess it isn't a huge deal but it certainly threw me off.
 
I can't use my tour character in quick play? Dammit Harmonix you drop the ball on the most insignificant stuff ever and it annoys me.

Same here. I just spent a good hour and a half driving around to every different store (walmart, target, gamestop, etc. etc.) and no one had any of the RB2 instruments.

Guess that means they are definitely delayed.
 
I just found out I had to re-calibrate my settings for drum trainer even though they are perfect for actually playing the songs.

I get a slight lag when doing drum fills because im running DD 5.1 (small price to pay for the step up in sound quality IMO)

Just keep that in mind drummers who run there 360 via reciever. I was like why the hell am I messing up on simple drum training beats when I used the same calibration settings as RB1. I went into quick play and played TroubleMaker and 100% GS'd it and then it finally clicked.
 
I cant remember the last time a video game made me this happy...the best thing is ur DLC loads in automatically cuz im too cheap to export.

Looks good to me. These kind of charts have given me trouble since GH1. At some point with Rockband things just clicked and they're no problem now.




A question for you guys looking for guitars at BestBuy. Do they still have the old Xbox Strats available? I bought the 2 year service plan on rockband which covers all the instruments so hopefully the old ones get discontinued.

I didn't say it was difficult, just zero fun. It's a chore. Love the song. Thought it looked ok on Youtube. I was wrong. YMMV.

For reference, what did you think of the 5.1 mix for RB1? I hated it (worst I've heard this gen, even counting downloadable games) and played in stereo. I just want to know before I take the time to go through the calibration again for 5.1.
