Got the game and drums (had to convince the GS employee to look in the back for the drums), but no guitar... he said they wouldn't be available until October with the bundle and other versions "for sure." :/

Also, a friend came in around the same time to pick up the bundle he pre-ordered. ... He was not happy.

"So, uh, wanna come over to my place later?" :lol

sweet, im getting RB2 import on ps3 as well, if you want someone to play with occasionally add me :p ive only played online once with US guys because of the crappy time difference, when its midday for me almost no one is online
 
I like everything I've seen so far, just finished up what I could in my hometown. I like the melding of the single/multiplayer tours.

Apparently "Diaper Rash" is not a classy enough name to take online, Diaperash is fine though :D
 
For reference, what did you think of the 5.1 mix for RB1? I hated it (worst I've heard this gen, even counting downloadable games) and played in stereo. I just want to know before I take the time to go through the calibration again for 5.1.

cool that you are talking about that....Dolby Digital sounded terrible in RB1, I would like to know if its better in RB2

That was one of the first things I noticed. the 5.1 mix seems like a definite step up. Im running a Onkyo TX-SR705 with some decent polk speakers and sub. The mix is definitly better.

Everything about RB2 screams polish. BoTB was the first thing I did after drum trainer (Launch Day Challenge Come Out & Play) and it was awesome.
 
Yeah, Pinball Wizard doesn't look fun on guitar. I really don't like those kind of charts. Acoustic guitar usually spells trouble...

At least singing will be worth it.

Eh, some parts on the guitar looks fun, but the really fast sections look like they'll be annoying as hell.
 
holy shit the sorting is SO much better. I love how quickly you can get through things! and the ability to 'Play all' any category, including albums! (full or not)

amazing.
 
I went in to Best Buy, and it wasn't on the shelf. I asked the VERY TALL MAN about it, and he said they were in the back. He got me a copy and thats when I noticed HIS EYES WENT DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS!

Says He "You know Guitar Hero has 1 more song than this! You should probably wait for that."

I lol'd.

It's weird of them to keep it in the back though.

Anyway, Master Exploder is the first song I've come across that worried me enough to conserve overdrive for some unforseen horror. I didn't need to. :/ I could have scored a lot higher, but that will have to wait.

the lag introduced into the system when I switched to the 5.1 was so horrible that I went back to stereo. It's good enough.

yes. during the previews a while back they mentioned a feature called jukebox mode. u can set a setlist of songs and watch the rb2 characters do a video like show with the songs u picked.
 
Finally unlocked Alex Chilton :p (it unlocked doing the series of bass challenges)...

I'm at 80/84 songs...not sure which ones I am missing aside from that Rob the Prez-o-dent song I remember hearing about. On the final challenge for singing and bass, finished the band one, still pretty far back on the guitar one, drums a bit past halfway...
 
Just got home with my game and drums.

It sucks so much ass that the new guitar is coming in 3 days (according to the dude at EB that looked it up on his computer after I asked.). So much for the calibrate feature. Gonna have to manual it again damnit :(

Probably all for the best though as the drum box is freaking huge and I dont think I could have walked home with everything.
 
So I've been playing for like two hours. There are so many really fun guitar charts in this game and I only have like half the songs. I'm really looking forward to when all my friends are free and we can get some full band action going.
 
Went to three Best Buys, two Gamestops, Circuit City and Target -- no drums (I'm in Boston). Fucking hell. I was honestly more excited to get a new set (I have ELs that frequently drop notes) than to get RB2. I guess I'll play a bit, but it's just going to feel tainted now.
 
Oh god the breakneck speed is perfect on guitar on Expert and ridiculously fast on drums. Like, holy hell.

For what it's worth if one were to do a comparison with GH3's hyperspeed it's sorta like in between 3 and 4 on that.

Yeah hyperspeed is too fast IMO. They should have had different levels. Neversoft does what Harmondon't.

Mine is having alot of problems too. I need to keep moving it or else the green and blue won't work.

And just want to play De-Luxe and I gotta play all these other shitty songs first.

Personally I think it's good on guitar as the speed it has it on is about what I play with on GH3 (either 3 or 4) but drums should be significantly slower for sure. On Hard it's definitely playable but on Expert it's insanity. I could probably adjust to it but like you I wish there were different levels. Kinda disappointing!

also, this game is fucking amazing, and surpasses braid to so far the best game of the year. the new quickplay and revamped solo tour are both excellent.

Oh and I absolutely love this game. The online thus far has been pretty flawless. It also works pretty awesome.

This is how I think it works:

Some one in the party picks what kind of game you play (World Tour, Challenges, Battle of the Bands) and then someone picks the specifics. So the leader doesn't have complete control over the game. You can also go from Challenges into World Tour without having to do anything special. It's pretty flawless.

I love the songs so far, and I haven't even got that far into it. I'm about 23 songs in.
 
Took me a few songs to get used to hyperspeed on guitar again, but now I'm getting better scores on my old RB1 songs because of it. Haven't tried it on drums yet, but from what I've read, I might not want to.

The game really does handle scores weird. Having no way to keep track of how many songs you've gold-starred is annoying. And not showing the difficulty next to high scores on the leaderboard is also annoying.

Hey, you know yesterday BB was talking about how the Halo 3 thread guys did meetup things... the Eurogamer Expo next month, don't know if GH:WT or RB2 are there for sure, but pretty much every publisher is there. UK folks fancy it? I'm probly gonna go anyway, so...
