give me my appetite for destruction, harmonix!

Reread his post again, he's essentially saying "Tool, like NiN, wouldn't be interesting in Rock Band."

Which seems entally untrue. Schism and Vicarious are nothing like Burn.

OMG, a lead zeppelin would never fly. That band is stupid.
But seriously, I'd rather have ten Anarchy Club songs than one Vagiant song, because at least they're not non-stop chugfests.

Wrong. Mythbusters tested this... last season? Technically it was a lead foil balloon, but they got the thing to float successfully.

Yeah, I'm not sure why TAJ quoted me.

I quoted you because nowhere in the post you were responding to did they suggest that NIN sounded like Tool.

And while the actual rock bands wrapped by midnight, the virtual versions wailed on deep into the night (or at least 1 a.m.). Inspired by what they saw onstage, kids in braces rocked out alongside gray-haired guys in suits, and women in high heels dueted on "Runnin' With the Devil." After all, this was only a concert in the loosest sense of the term, and there were plastic guitars to grasp and rock dreams to fulfill. The bands were almost an afterthought, really.

I said he thought they were similar bands, in the opinion that they wouldn't be fun to play in these games. No where did I say they sounded the same.

I thought Van Halen was GH exclusive.

It could be a pre-existing deal, similar to the Metallica situation. (new deal for export = no, existing deals for Battery, Fuel, one full album, etc. = good)
It could also be a very drunk and/or confused "journalist".

Watch your tongue, fanboi.
Avril's hold on you is stronger than I'd imagined. O_o

Just sitting here with rockband.com open, listening to the parade of tracks...it's just incredible how much awesome music is in the game.

I'm hoping 'jukebox mode' is essentially this, a random track player with the band on the stage uncovered by the note roads.

I just hope for the videos that are on the website (Like Black Hole Sun). Pick my characters and pick whatever song I want and just watch them rock out with all the cool background effects.

Yeah that's my understanding of how it works. We'll definitely have Jukebox Mode running during breaks at my parties, probably on random if it's available.

I'm getting everything next wednesday, so just over a week for me. But that's ok, because aside from a couple of classes, I have Thursday-Monday off from work to play with the new game, new guitar, and new fuck-awesome drums.

You guys get approximately 4 days to torment me. :D

Who else here has tried playing with a pick? I find that in some cases it works really well. Alt-strumming is trivial and a lot of things are made easier. At the same time it tends to make a really annoying noise, probably wears out the springs in the strum bar faster, it's harder to keep on target, and the pressure, flap, and feedback is all weird.

I tried it with a couple of picks (.71 mm Medium EBE, 2.0mm Dunlop Big Stubby, generic Medium Fender) and never was able to find the sweet spot that worked for the game. The lighter picks (the EBEs have always felt closer to a med-light pick than a medium for me) bent enough to keep a smooth strum, but the heavy was better at actually moving the damn thing. Basically, the same exact issue that you have with real instruments, but made worse because you're trying to move a big, hard chunk of plastic that doesn't quite move in the right way.

I do think it might be interesting for them to work on this particular aspect of the design, however. When you're strumming normally you're mainly moving it with your fingers, but when you use a pick you're able to properly get your wrist into it in a way that I find almost impossible when doing it without the pick.

An interesting experiment that I know plenty of others have already tried. It'd be interesting to hear how everyone else here has done with this if, in fact, they've tried it at all. For me, I think I'm going back to playing it without. If only I could someone smack myself on the head long enough to be willing to actually buy that split-strum bass. I'd love to be able to play bass properly for once.

Bah, that's what every day is like when you're like me: a shiftless unemployed layabout living on the girlfriend giro.

Of course, it's not coming out on the PS3 until next month so, uhm, carry on then.

So is it possible to get the drum rocker from EB games or futureshop, instead of having to buy it online? Because I'm getting RB2 the day it releases and I'd like to buy the drum rocker on the 14th as well.

No midnight launch at the GS here in Columbia, MO >:(

Didn't know you were in Columbia. I saw Godspeed! You Black Emperor at the Blue Note, hmm... 2001 or so. Grew up in Overland Park, KS.

Rest assured Jukebox Mode is indeed in the game.

Rock Band needs The Mars Volta. My roommate is getting World Tour but I don't want to break his drums having a blast playing L'Via L'Viaquez. I feel much more comfortable breaking my own.
