Seems the same as GH:2. Which isn't great for me; I play GH:3 on Hyperspeed 1, which is a little slower.

Hyperspeed 3 is my ideal speed, so this is a little slow, I guess. (can't see it yet) Again, better than nothing, but Neversoft win again.

Anyone know of places doing a midnight launch of this?

Do you think Wal-Mart will have it up at midnight (they have been good at doing this a few times)

I was under the impression it's the first song you play on Guitar and Bass.
And drums.

@ Pooh, there should be a midnight launch at walmart, stores are already getting their copies in.

edit: I'm going on a media blackout now, no livestreams or videos for me. for whatever reason I don't want everything spoiled. :\

When are we going to start some bands?
I'm up for it the second I get my copy.

Expert guitar/bass/vocals
Medium/Hard drums

I'd rather stay off the drums until GH:WT comes out over here and I can get a kit that works consistently.

I'll be ready as well.

Guitar - Hard/Expert
Bass - Expert/Savior
Vox - Hard/Expert

I do perfer to play Bass out of everything.

After playing some Oasis tracks with the girlfriend (pro tip; Oasis was awesome in these games, use them more developers!) I'm back watching the stream. Oh, so exciting. I'm getting flashbacks of our little GAF meetup last time where we watched some guys playing. One of them said my name. It was exciting.

Oh yay, Nirvana!

Yes. Yes. Champaign Supernova plz

I'm up for Expert drums, though I won't get my copy 'til later in the day (since I doubt Best Buy is doing a midnight launch). I'll even finally get Gold! :lol

Seems the 20 bonus tracks will be available to Rock Band 2 owners only, some folks over at the official forum are saying that there's a redemption code on the manual which you need to register before you can download them.

On a more positive note, I just preordered the PS3 version over at Videogames Plus, it should make the return to Scotland from my 2 week trip to Japan in October a little more beareable.

...but will they work in Rock Band 1 if I import the game just for that code?!

If not? PLATFORM IS DEAD MAAAN.

I was ruminating on this earlier and realized that this is the pack we truly need:

Velvet Underground - I'm Waiting For the Man
Guns 'n Roses - Mr. Brownstone
The Rolling Stones - Dead Flowers
Iggy Pop - Lust for Life

If true this is a bunch of bull shit. Way to screw the PS3 over yet again. I was looking forward to at least playing those for the next month while I wait. This timed exclusivity sucks ass(especially for those non Americans).

Shit, this is kinda going back on my whole "going on strike" thing if I bought the game just for 20 songs...hmm.

Today Guitar/Bass. Looks boring. Makes me wish GH had Bullet With Butterfly Wings after all.

I agree entirely. It also really bugs me how it keeps switching which guitar you're playing because, well... it just feels very wrong and artificial. I also find it unpleasant how it switches from the long sustain back to chords, but the sustain is still playing in the background.

I was going to say that exact same thing. It's the opposite of what they usually do as well, which is to totally switch from what you're playing to go to the lead guitar, then go back when that riff is finished. Like in the chorus of Message In A Bottle.

I thought this was already common knowledge. Yeah, the extra songs are things they claimed they wanted to put on disc, but didn't have time to get on there so they're releasing them as a free promo that will also be marketing to send people to the store.

Think of them as downloadable on-disc songs.

Maybe its just me but RB2's guitar charting looks kinda, lazy.

also D: at constant switching between lead and rhythm.

Makes me wonder if they are adding them to the PS3 disc since they are delaying that version.

Most of it seems the same as ever. I still have "issues" with their charting, but I've sorta mellowed out to the point I just ignore it. That and complaining about it made me a heel here for awhile. It's mainly with the easier songs I have a problem though.

Well that and the song has such a clear distinction between the parts and they often overlap very heavily so the more aggressive distorted rhythm guitar cuts through the mix much more than the dry melody.

Smashing Pumpkins songs often need to be picked carefully because of how much work they did to them in the studio and the imbalance of the various parts.

Secret cheat code for drummers in "Today":
hit 3 YG triplets as the song starts to become hooked on heroin and Corgan's bitch for life taking part in whatever godawful side-project he manages to cook up.

No. That would be... just no. They of course aren't doing that. They will be a download and will work exactly like on the 360.

I strongly suspect that although this wasn't likely the original intent these will be that first hit to get people going to the Rock Store. It also comes across as a gesture of goodwill: "Hey you bought the game and that's awesome, but y'know, here, have some extra free songs just 'cuz."

I'm not cynical enough to believe that it's entirely orchestrated as a marketing ploy, but I'm not naive enough to believe that they won't try to take advantage of the opportunity to use it as such.

This is also untrue. We have no idea when they'll be coming out at all. People are just theorizing that they might come out right after launch. This is because they really want that to happen. There is no indication of that at all, however, and no information on when they may come out aside from the knowledge that it will be before the end of the year (IIRC they were announced as part of the 500 tracks).

I see it as a way to market Rock Band 2 as having more songs than Guitar Hero: World Tour without them having to worry about disc space. I don't know how full the RB2 disc is, but I imagine both games are pretty much filling them up with 80-odd songs.

Ugh, watching that stream is just going to make the wait to the weekend suck more. The solo's on The Middle and Alive look like a lot of fun!

Which is why I said, If true.
