Makes me wonder if they are adding them to the PS3 disc since they are delaying that version.

US PS2 and Wii players are still holding our breath and what wonder/terrible decision they will take.

5% chance of excellence (aka 2 disk game)
95% chance of being screwed over (aka 70 "best of RB2" songs)

I feel like hyperspeed is completely unnecessary in Rock Band due to the smaller size of the gems...but in Guitar Hero it's a must when certain solos look like they just painted the screen with random colorful circles.

Christ, I'm gonna have to play the PS2 version for 6 months again. That's depressing.

One Step Closer looks as boring as I expected. Get to the good songs!

I see it as a way to market Rock Band 2 as having more songs than Guitar Hero: World Tour without them having to worry about disc space. I don't know how full the RB2 disc is, but I imagine both games are pretty much filling them up with 80-odd songs.

Filling up, but they can hold so... oh yeah, 360 doesn't use Blu-Ray. Man, that must suck. PS3s have discs with almost the same amount of storage space as the console. Sadly the 360 is in the same boat.

:D

Ok, enough good-natured ribbing and back to the topic at-hand. I have to agree. I couldn't remember if they didn't have enough space on the disc or if they didn't have enough time to get it out, but knowing it was one of them I went with time assuming that there was definitely enough disc space. I was, perhaps, mistaken.

Well after doing some reading over at the rock band forums, it does indeed seems you will have a code to redeem the 20 songs. It also seems that they won't be released at launch. More than likely they will be released close to the PS3 launch

Oh well, the wait continues. I do wonder what will be announced Friday now...

Lot of good all that storage space is gonna do ya when we're all gonna be playing RB2 next week.....right :lol

Why wouldn't you have a code? These aren't free songs for anyone who owns any Rock Band product, they're specifically for RB2. Using a code is just about the only way to do it.

YOUR DOOM!

Axl probably forced Harmonix not to put an unlock all code in the game.

Has there been any news on whether there is an unlock code or not? Because I'm planning to get RB2 at midnight and then take it over to a friend's house to play for most of the night and I'd rather not have to go through the process of unlocking songs since we are gonna be switching people fairly consistently.

Well, the guys playing now don't seem to have all the songs unlocked. These things are usually discovered by people looking through the files on the disc, so maybe we'll find out soon. I remember people going through the PS2 files to see if they could find any codes.

Well I naively thought they were just going to be put on the store for free for anyone to download. I don't know why though. Wishful thinking I guess.

Remember though, launch is Sunday, DLC releases are Tuesday. That's not at launch, that's not terribly long after. Hope remains. Thin hope, but hope.

Why would you not want to play all the songs on the disc? It shouldn't take that long to go through and unlock everything. And hey, you might have some fun doing it (either challenging or discovering a hidden gem).

First thing we're going to do is the couple challenges that are up at midnight, and then jump right into World Tour, trying to reach the Endless Setlist as fast as we can. Then it's Bladder of Steel time! If we fail something, then we'll just keep going for Platinum anyways. I imagine that Visions is going to fucking kill us, but we will have two true bass pedals, so hopefully that'll help out at least a little bit.

So I only recently started playing ranked matches, quick question regarding the achievements for them. Do forfeit count towards wins? It seems like lately everyone I'm even slightly beating will quickly quit out on me and I have no idea if it's costing me wins or not.

Yeah it's happened to me too a lot lately. And last night I discovered the achievements are glitched, I've already got the 20 ranked tug of war and score duel matches but the game hasn't given me the acheivement.

I certainly intend to play all the songs when I get it home on Sunday. But just being able to play in Band Quick Play mode and pick from any of the songs is a far more party friendly way to do things. That way we don't have to worry about repeating songs in World Tour mode or have to worry about people failing (which will likely become more of a problem as the night progresses). Hopefully someone can dig up the code sometime before Saturday. These broken street date shenanigans might help with that.

I did a search just now, and the game is 6.6GB, so that could be part of it. The reason they gave is that the songs weren't ready when they had to go gold. Harmonix is known to be staffed by habitual liars, though.

I dont think is space, the rb1 songs are less than 2gb

I thought that 360 disc capacity was 7GB? That would leave only 400MB for the 20 songs, for any average of 20MB each. That's a little on the low side for Rock Band tracks.

The exported tracks are compressed, surely.

I assume they are stored the exact way any of the other DLC is stored. And one would expect that the disc songs aren't stored in a way that much different.

Though I suppose they could be uncompressed on the disc to decrease the time of loading from the disc while the DLC is just decompressed during loading since it is faster to get stuff off the hard drive.

Any asset on a game disc is compressed. Uncompressed files are a waste of RAM and loading time. My point was that the export songs average almost 27MB, while only 20MB average would be available to put the 20 songs on disc.

It's a better idea to compress stuff on the disc due to the lower read speed of the DVD drive (less data to get off the disc). If it's on the HDD or in memory it can be decompressed much quicker.

Weird...
The updated, fu**** my calibration and screen set-up..don't know if it was part of the update..

I had to manually calibrate everything again and fix the aspect ratio too..to actually play the game..

Here's one of many reasons that you are wrong.

The green-blue and green-orange parts are also trills, but notice how much they look like chords?

YES! Finally beat expert drums, fuck you RTTH!

Ya know, I should really get around to beating that song on hard drums in the next four days since I'll likely never play it again once RB2 comes out. But god damn I hate that song.

I guess...if one of your eyes is lower than the other one.

It doesn't bother you when gems overlap, either? Hell, there parts of a few songs where they'll overlap even with hyperspeed. Do you play on easy?
