It's something you have to train your ear to hear, otherwise yeah it can basically sound like that. At least it isn't pig gutterals. You guys would think Visions sounded perfectly normal after that. :lol

God, The Middle is a chugfest of epic proportions. They've got shit repeating 16X in there. At least it has a solo...

Eh, we're just poking fun. At least I think the others are.

Kinda like how we made fun of Costanza and his escapades.

Also, the PS3 patch is coming this Thursday with Les Paul support, song export, fixes for the PAX pack, and other miscellaneous things.

I leave for a week, come back and the thread has grown by almost 20 pages. "wth" I say to myself. Reading through the first 7 pages, nothing. Then this. awesome news, coming a day before I was going to take my guitars to EB for credit.

also, how funny will it be if the GH3 guitars work better in RB than in GH?

Ehh, that was in my college days. I gave away most of the bigger obnoxious Nintendo shit now, like the giant Donkey Konga 2 box and most of the posters. The new apartment, while still full of DVDs and such, has less posters plastering the wall. (I will always keep the Fist of Adonis... always) I already posted pictures of the new place, remember? With all the guitars? Go back a few pages or look in my photobucket if you care.

And I've always been in steady relationships. But my work cubicle is full of toys and posters and shit. :lol I'll never change completely, though.

I'm still bitter about the game getting out early, of course. How do you think I should feel? :lol

Investing hundreds of dollars into a game, only to have to wait an extra month while you guys go nuts? It's a bit late and not that much of a deal to change platforms now. It just 30 days of... "oh look, I can't play any Modest Mouse or AC/DC."

Although the patch coming up makes me happy. Very happy. I just wish GH3 had the co-op quickplay patch that never materialized.

And FYI, the thread was named after me last time because of this same topic, of 360-favoring. The early launch was one of the sticking points.
Stage kit, better online, better DLC management, early DLC (Hardly a big deal), compatible guitars (Though not their fault), Best Buy songs with album purchase, etc... those were the other gripes. Also not including a USB hub in the box. I wonder if the new box will. I'll find out.

And yes, I do understand the plus side. Relaxed DLC rules, wireless guitar, more peripherals, free online.

But I will re-iterate my one fear. Of having to manually re-install 55 songs, one by one.
SH kiddies argued with me that it was released. I still can't find it but they swear up and down it's there. insane little turds.

What you guys have never heard Arch Enemy or anything before?

Thank you.

whew, finally made it to the last page. well, I hope any mateys here who have the game enjoy it, you lucky bastards. And thanks for the heads-up about the GH patches, though I forget who said it. Getting the GH:A one now...I guess I'll see if it makes the game any better being able to play with a decent guitar. If not, so long and hello $15 bonus at EB.

I watched a few minutes of a few of the RB2 songs and I think that's all I'm going to do until release in October. Need some surprises, eh.

Is it youtube audio compresion or does the audience sound rather...drab? Heck, for that matter, it sounds rather male (which may be the issue here).

to clairify: it sounds like a bunch of people singing the song rather than a crowd of people screaming out along with the lyrics (anyone who's been on stage knows the difference...heck anyone who's been to a small club with a devoted crowd knows the difference).

Fuck, fuck, fuckity fuck fuck. I am so tempted to go on a huge whiney fanboy rant about Euro-screw-over right now. One that would put that stupid FFXIII coming to 360 to utter shame.

Watching RB2 videos made me miss the experiment thing in the alps. A blackhole could have attacked me, and I would not have known why :(

"So, you think this could destroy life as we know it?"
"I dunno, maybe."
"Let's turn it on."
"'kay."

Don't worry, the fun doesn't start until a few weeks time when the opposing beams converge.

Is it wrong that I now think the song is awesome?

I still hate the song, but that girl is pretty cute and well, she almost certainly rocks much, much harder than I do. At the same time it sounds like she's getting that sound by using a load of effects. Yes, a lot of guys use effects, but it sounds like hers is, well, more fake? I've heard some girls do great screamo vocals before and well... nothing like that.

That's the thing. I hate this sort of metal, but I'm still a fan of a lot of math rock and experimental noise rock and such. I've listened to songs precisely because I was told that they sounded like grinding shards of glass into your ear and liked them. But this, well, this I soundly do not like. There is, apparently, a fine line between dissonant and shitty.

Also, it looks like Harmonix heard people whining about difficulty a bit too much and now they want to give us much harder songs. Sort of like what happened with GH1 and GH2. Hopefully by RB3 they'll sort it out a bit better or at least move to more DLC so it's less of an issue.

But seriously, Rock Band 1 was terrrrible on guitar. Nothing about Rock Band 2's difficulty seems out of line with, say, GH:2. Even Painkiller looks like it'll be beatable first time by somebody with a bit of experience playing. There's plenty of songs I'm dreading playing (Shackler's Revenge is the songification of everything I hate) but Rock Band 1 was nothing but GGAHT for me. I'm part of the audience too! I need ma sugar!

Yeah, it's weirdly... half-hearted almost. I'm hoping it's just an issue with the compression and the mixing for the YouTube video and not a comment on in-game performance.

Looks like an easier, just-as-fun Franlin's Tower. Continued proof that Grateful Dead tracks are awesome in Rock Band.

Might quickly become one of my favorites.

This is truly a problem as these are teaching me that I might actually like the Dead. Was my burnout Deadhead half-sister not completelywrong traveling around in an old schoolbus following them? I'm not certain I can comprehend it.

I felt deeply shamed when I actually failed out at 95% just like everyone else. The star power, it just ran out exactly when I needed it. I thought I was better than that. I mean, I realize I'm not fabulous, but from the people here that I've managed to collect I'm doing pretty damn well on the PS3 charts and I'm fighting to keep the career high score of the people on my friend's list (I forget whether Vargas or Tiduz pushed me out the other day... I think Vargas).

Then again, I usually don't like playing the harder songs as often. I tend to prefer medium songs or songs that just, well, click with me. Which often means some of the easier songs.

I agree that RB1 was by and large a complete pushover on guitar, but at the same time I'm not asking for very hard songs, just... well, moderately challenging ones. More in the line of technical skill where I do respectably the first time, but it's going to take me more runs and practice to get to where I can easily nail it every time. Not songs where I have to practice forever to pass it and it makes me want to stop playing because my hand has now turned to mush and I never want to attempt it because I know that's what will happen.

I'm awful at GGAHT. I played it the other day and actually did pretty well, then failed at 96%. It's so disheartening. My current score on it (from the one time I've beat it) is under 300k, which is just not good. But I can never be bothered trying to improve it.

I don't think RB2 is overboard with hard songs. I can't say enough good things about their setlist to be honest. Excusing the odd song we all know is gonna be pretty shit unless you're drunk and in a "band". But even then, stuff like Float On, which is on the easy side, looks a lot more fun than stuff like Go With The Flow.

I wonder if there is any truth to that September 16th Queen 5-pack DLC that I have heard about??

....of course there is not, I just made it up! HA!

Stop talking about it, Dave, it only furthers my heartbreak and despair.

DID YOU LEARN NOTHING FROM THE LAST TIME YOU DID THIS?!

*tips a magazine rack*

Need answering fast:

Do you think I can buy the euro version of RB1 (PS3) and then buy the US version of RB2 and use the RB1 songs on RB2? Or should I just import the US version (RB1)and save the hassel?

Seriously. Isn't this the second time you've done this? That's enough for me to suggest some sort of very light corrective action or at least a good stern warning from a mod.

If you're going to post something like this... well, actually just don't. It's not even done in a classy or clever manner. Give us an elaborate ruse if you must, but none of this cheap, obviously false bait-and-switch.

You're messing with dark magic there, son.
