$21 at Gamestop.

Awesome thanks, that's more than I thought. Where is the option to import the RB1 songs on the marketplace? I looked all day yesterday and could not find it. I want to do it now because you get 20% extra trade in if you preorder before the weekend.

It's under Options in the game menu.

An extra 20% trade in? Is that if you trade in Rock Band to put credit towards Rock Band 2? They didn't tell me that yesterday and I even asked if there was any preorder promotion. I got $15 extra for trading in 3 or more 360 games, though.

edit: I just found out you get a free Rock Band t-shirt when you pick up your preorder. They didn't tell me that either.

Can any one recommend a good Rockband 1 song with the up and down the fret board HO-POs, Its just something I've always muddled through in all the guitar games. I think its time to finally do it right

The greatful dead songs are all full of hopos but not so fast that you will lose too much track of them

GGAHT. It's the main block for finishing Expert Guitar. Just play that section in practice mode until you get it down, that's what I did. The end of the 2nd solo gives you a bunch of types, too:

YRGYRGYRG
YRGRYRGRY
RGBGRGBGR
and just to kill you right at the end
OBYROBYR with a strum on the O. That one will drill in the importance of actually doing a PO rather than just "faking" with lots of HOs.

GGAHT and Flirting with Disaster are the only two main set songs I never finished on expert

That makes three of us.

I don't really have the desire to put much effort into either song to be honest, I find working on drums to be much more rewarding.
I can understand not wanting to work through GGAHT but for the sake of practicing those actions it's hard to beat... which is what practice mode was made for.

I decided that I'm gonna sell my copy of Rock Band now while the money is still good.

I don't know how I will last until Rock Band 2 though

The load times are still rubbish judging by those videos. WHY CAN'T I TURN THE BACKGROUND STUFF OFF, HARMONIX? WHYYYYYYY?
I have no idea what the fuck you're talking about? Do you mean you want to turn off the band and stage and just have a fretboard against a black background?

If so.. Wow!

Hey, do we by any chance have any info on Rock Band: Japan yet?

I wanna know too! I was playing some Ouendan, and thought L'arc en Ciel would sound pretty awesome.

But considering everyone here is more of the americanized rockers, I doubt they would have found out anything of interest.

Yeah. I can see why people like it, and I don't find it distracting or anything, but I wish they'd at least let me turn it off so I didn't have to wait so long to start a song.
Still, the playlist option might help with that a bit. Is it likely to work like it does in Band World Tour where they just go one after the other without going to a loading screen?

Look at those load times. :lol

I don't even know if installing is worth it if its just gonna shave like 4-5 seconds.

I'm not even sure that would help.
For example, if you restart a song, it's instant, but if you let the song finish, go back to the menu and pick the same song again, it takes forever.

Because it's reloading all of the character and background assets again?

But why would it dump them before it knew it had to load new ones? And why would it ever reload the background assets in career unless you changed venues? That would be as dumb as not supporting the cymbals on their new drums. Oh, wait...

Dunno, but that's what it looks like it's doing. I really don't see how the songs themselves could take that long to load.

Also, Visions is completely retarded in all aspects.

No hammer-ons or pull-offs allowed. Imagine this for 30 or so seconds.

looks amazing to me. and there are HO/PO's from what I saw

Question: In RB2 are you able to change the screen position (center, right, left) for each instrument's individual scrolling note charts in multiplayer?

Just got the email confirmation of my ion drums now shipping!

Also, yesterday I finally received my omega pedal, and holy crap it feels different.
It's taking some tweaks, but its sooooo customizable it can match anyone's style.
I'm really loving it.

What kind of converter am I going to need to use my omega pedal with my ion drums?

All games should have loading times like GH:3. Excluding it's awful first 60 seconds or so where it checks for DLC forever, it's so super slick. If you don't change characters or arenas, you're not waiting for a loading screen.

I never change characters in RB1, and I spend 95% of my play time on the same fucking Japan arena. Load times out the ass. You'd think that Harmonix could afford competent programmers by now. I guess none of them are in bands, lol. /sigh

The fact there is a loading screen to get to the song select after exiting a song makes me think I'm waiting for that globe to load in the background. Which is a great use of time.

Indeed. After failing out of GGAHT I went into practice and started working on it. I found that a big part of it is to take it slowly and learn the rhythm.

Start by strumming on each green so you have a solid idea of the beat. Don't worry about anything else, just work on getting it down so you have each PO string down. Then start adding in the PO to red. Again, just work on that. Try to concentrate on getting the timing down and making a nice smooth transition. Work through that for a while until you really have it down solid. Start increasing the speed if you turned it a down a bit because getting the initial PO is where it's all at. Only when you've got that down should you try to incorporate the full string.

I found that by going along like this I went from muddling my way through to getting 100% in about 15 minutes or so. At least, in practice.

The key things to keep in mind is timing because that's what will likely make or break it. Getting those greens strummed each time (unless you want to hammer them on... I prefer to strum and learning to strum them at first really improves your timing) and knowing when they'll hit is a big part of doing it. After that it's just an issue of basic dexterity and finger independence.

I'm working through my DLC songs. I fucking hate how you'll just get one song that ruins a perfectly good run of gold stars. I'm wasting my time playing songs I don't like just because it bugs me so much.
