I'm totally ok with the load times. I like reading the text and when I'm playing with others that's the time where we stop chatting and get ready to get uploaded into the game grid. I usually start getting the beat going for myself assuming it's a song I know and then take the early bits of the song to correct myself because, well, beat has to be an internal thing for me.

On an unrelated note I was thinking about the drum trainer and what was mentioned with GGAHT and was thinking that it might make some sense if they gave us a strum pattern trainer in the next release. Sure, it's not quite as accurate or necessary as the drum fill trainer is, but it would be roughly similar in giving you a skill that's useful in the game (although, admittedly, easier to learn on your own) that's also applicable to real-life situations. The biggest problem I can think of is that unlike an actual guitar it's going to be harder to take strokes out because you can't strum past the bar without actually connecting the way you can in reality.

Question: In RB2 are you able to change the screen position (center, right, left) for each instrument's individual scrolling note charts in multiplayer?
Game's street date has been broken and still nobody knows?

looks amazing to me. and there are HO/PO's from what I saw
Sorry, I'm talking about the first screen. :P What is in the second screen looks completely doable, but the first is guaranteed to be brutal since you have to strum all those notes.

All games should have loading times like GH:3. Excluding it's awful first 60 seconds or so where it checks for DLC forever, it's so super slick. If you don't change characters or arenas, you're not waiting for a loading screen.
Yeah, GH3's loading is great, but I'm guessing it's partially because everything it's loading is relatively simple – the modeling of everything and textures are rather weak, so it's obviously going to be a bit faster to load than a bigger stadium and custom characters and stuff.

But yeah, HMX should kidnap whoever optimizes load times for Neversoft.

I'm working through my DLC songs. I fucking hate how you'll just get one song that ruins a perfectly good run of gold stars. I'm wasting my time playing songs I don't like just because it bugs me so much.
A "hey look I'm so good I get gold stars all the time!" post in disguise? Discuss. ;)

That's What You Get ain't no CrushCrushCrush, that's for sure.

I still have my fair share of 4 and 5 stars ;) I just hate it when a list of gold songs is ruined by one non-gold. It's lost potential.

Question regarding the song export. Does anyone know if I were to delete some songs that I exported but later wanted them back, could I export them again without having to pay another licensing fee? (same system)

Yeah. Somebody here said they got a disc read error when exporting once and had to start the process again, it's not a problem. The download you get is basically an authorisation file that just tells the game you've paid the money, and then it's tied to your system.

You do have to extract all the songs again though, you can't just choose to bring back one or two. Obviously you can delete afterwards.

Yeah, you can. I felt bad about deleting Detroit Rock City, so I did the export again.

'twas free, but it did the whole process over, not just the missing songs.

anywhere in LA that has broken the street date yet? I'd go pick this up tonight.

Some dude on CAG got it from Game Play on Venice Blvd near Motor. I have no idea where that is, I'm just copy'ing it and pasting it since you asked.

"All of This" and "Even Rats" were pretty much the only two bonus songs I ever really played in GH1, with "Guitar Hero" being a distant third.

Hmm... while I liked both of those "Hey" was definitely my favorite and I liked it more than a number of the crappier main setlist songs. I was also a fan of "Eureka! I've Found Love" and the Acro-Brats song... although I can't recall which one was in GH1.

Shit. I wish Miami had smaller stores that sold games. All we have is frickin' behemoths like Best Buy and to a lesser but sinister extent, GameStop.

TheGreatDave said:
No, that's a new mode. Seems nice for what it is, anybody know if you can change the drum kit to another set of sounds?
Yeah, there are four kits, I believe, and you can change them on the fly.

Same here 'cept I'm in North Phoenix. I'm pretty sure there are mom 'n pops in downtown/south Phoenix, but I don't want to drive 30 minutes each way. :\

Hell, I can't find that in San Francisco. Although the small college town I used to live in (Manhattan, KS) had a great game store that unfortunately closed when a neighboring building under repair from fire damage had a big chunk fall over in high winds and crush a big part of it. They promised to come back, but never did. They even used to sell used PC games for a while and had the highly dubious ability to rent PC games for an even shorter period of time. Never really bought anything there as I was fully in my PC-only gaming phase at the time they were open. They were damaged and never recovered just as I bought my Gamecube and got back into consoles.

They were also right next door to a great used CD shop (CD Tradepost) that had excellent prices on games and was actually cheaper than the other shops in their small chain.

There were, however, three Gamestops for a population of only 50,000. Two of which opened about a year or two apart from each other. You could drive from one side of town to the other in 15 minutes (in SF it takes an hour to cross town despite it only being seven by seven miles... and that's including taking what limited underground public transit we do have).

Hmm... I wonder if there are any decent shops in San Diego? Meh, probably nothing worth going to if there is. :D

Was there any overlap? I'd be worried about it taking up more hard drive space if it doesn't know to properly overwrite the files.

Eh, I always though Hey was kinda boring. It's easily Honest Bob's simplest song.

I still want a The Slip three-pack, on the GH1 bonus songs topic.

I have Rock Band 2.

Oh yes.

If you have questions, leave 'em here and I'll answer them in a Sunday-scheduled post for MTV, or right here, if they don't make it in.

Nope, I checked.

The songs were labeled as Game Save as opposed to Game Content on my HDD, so maybe that's what allows it to overwrite the files?

Most of us will have it sunday, how does that help? lol:D

I have a question.

Can I come over to play? Are you far from Chicago? :lol

All this mom & pop game store talk gives me an idea...

Either way, this caught my interest over at CAG.

The first screen really isn't that big a deal either...

Just picked up a copy at Game Play on Venice... the rumors are true.
They are out of copies for the next couple of hours, went to go pick up another shipment for tonight they said.

I gold stared Hammerhead! Yay!

Everlong is the new Run To The Hills. A sane, possible Run to the Hills. And you can't even play that shit on a cymbal even if you want to.

I knew Everlong was going to be fairly tough on drums, but I had no idea that they'd chart it so similarly to the Duran Duran songs. Still, it looks loads of fun.
Everlong on drums is guilty of two major crimes. The first is the yellow=snare issue. The second is that they don't keep it that way. The game changes up the snare from yellow to red in different sections.

Just one of those songs that make the Ion set 'broken'.

Well then Dave's comment of it being a saner Run to the Hills makes perfect sense.

I did a search just now, and the game is 6.6GB, so that could be part of it. The reason they gave is that the songs weren't ready when they had to go gold. Harmonix is known to be staffed by habitual liars, though.

So PS2 and Wii version = 2 disks confirmed?

Theres no way they can fit 100 songs + prerendered video into 8GB.

Or will we get only 65 songs :(

I still think "All of This" by Shaimus is the best bonus track HMX ever added. I bought Shaimus' whole album after hearing that track.

I really want to play that song on the drums in RB :(

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqEctj8hHM4

I saw The Slip live after loving their song in GH1

But I also love ALl of This

If you guys want to play the song correctly buy a real drumset.

Anyone get a copy of the game in the heart of Uhmerica (Ohio)?
