I gotta say I played RB2 for quite a while yesterday and to the night with friends... I'm a bit disappointed in it. My main reason for disappointment is that I just feel like I am playing DLC on disc. It is not a new game what so ever. There are some fun songs and note tracking has improved a lil bit but it's still RB. Not to say I will never play it again but I wanted a bit more out of it.

RB2 is a refinement of what they did on RB1, similar to the jump from GH1 to GH2.

You also have to into account the genre RB is apart of, it's easy to see why sequels feel more like DLC on disc than true sequels.

Fanboy rage :(

RB2 could be DLC. The question is if you are happy with the content you're getting for the money. I don't see how anybody couldn't be.

As far as a feature set goes, I think it adds more than any rhythm game before it, unless you count GH2 -> RB. It has some fantastic online options, Battle of the Bands especially.

I'm not really that bothered by it feeling like just a whole bunch of DLC. I mean I've been buying and enjoying DLC for the last year for around $2 a song. So 88(+20) songs for $60 is a cost I'm am perfectly willing to pay, especially since sounds like it comes with a lot of improvements to the interface and whatnot.

Can't wait to play that song. One of my most anticipated songs to play. Rise Against is so awesome. Hopefully we'll see some more stuff from them. I wouldn't be surprised to see a song pack near their new CD release in October.

If you didnt see GH:WT has the single from their new cd on their setlist... and I cannot wait either, they are awesome!!

I never heard Charlene beofre, but now I can't get Charlene out of my head :(

Cassette.jpg

Everytime I see you I think of you
Everytime I'm near you I think of you
I think of you and I dream of you when I'm taking pictures of you
I think of you when I'm in a blimp looking down from up above you

You know I'm missing you

My mind is kissing you

I'm right behind you now Charlene
Waiting, watching
Oh so close
I'm right behind you now Charlene
You'll never be alone again, no

I had no idea this song even existed. I wish it was easier to watch The Colbert Report over here. Daily Show is aired every day, Colbert is on some bullshit channel I don't get.
I think watching the full episodes on Comedy Central's website is pretty easy. Or do they lock out UK?

All the stores have it in stock but they wont break street date :/

The KMart near my house has it and the dude even let me hold the box but told me they couldnt break street date. I died a little inside.

To be honest i dont understand the point of street dates, when Harmonix themselves are giving Gamestop Managers free copies a week ahead.

Is it better in regards to jumping in and out? I hate in RB1 how if you lose a band member you have to quit back to that cumbersome character select screen.

That is better yeah... but one MAJOR PITA I forgot to mention is they don't have a way to skip a song when you create a setlist. SO annoying. If you have someone who cant beat the song you have to either drop the difficulty and replay the song (if they cant beat that difficulty you have to do it all over again) or exit out of your setlist and create a whole new setlist.

What a tease that's even worse. It sucks I live in atlanta and there's no mom and pop shops here :/

Is there a way to skip songs, if you get a song in a random setlist (e.g., Metallica) that you don't want to/can't play?

Didn't you used to have a tag that said "Works for Activision"?

Or am I confusing you with someone else?

The tag was removed because it was a BS tag that posters cannot get over.

1. When I got the tag I no longer worked for Activision.
2. Working for Activision should not invalidate my opinion at all. I am a gamer just like everyone of you. I'd bet dollars to donuts my opinions are FAR less biased than just about every video game journalist out there.

*looks at GH3/RB post*

Gonna have to go with... no.

You worked for the company that is launching a product that is direct competition with Rock Band. Sorry, but I can't take your opinion seriously.

I'm pretty sure they mentioned being able to have songs not in the rotation during the world tour

That is a very ignorant view but hey... to each his own. It's a shame you can't take my disappointment with the game seriously... lol.

And I still stand by that post. GH3 to be is better game to me in perspective. IE apples to apples or "pound for pound" (lol). The only time I ever play RB is when I have friends over drinking. GH3 was played constantly.

If there is I have not found a way. The only options you have when you fail are to change difficulty or exit the game.

pftch, that's kinda dumb. because he likes the product his ex-employer was making?
I'm still looking forward to Rock Band 10x more than GH4. Is that wrong of me?

So I played about 7 hours last night and some this morning. Is there such thing as fake guitar fatigue? I'm playing like crap now. I'll miss really easy sections of notes, and I don't know whether it's because of lack of sleep, video lag, guitar going out of sync, or my body just refusing to cooperate. Maybe this is what it's like to get old. :P The game needs a message like Wii Sports saying, "maybe you should stop rocking out and go outside."

The Colbert song seemingly does not exist on PS3. Which is very, very sad. Perhaps our usage of a Japanese console makes us completely unamerican and undeserving of such awesomeness.

I mean, it's PSN update day and everything even... maybe we'll luck out and get it later tonight.

No, so long as your basis of looking forward to something isn't clearly fanboy inspired. That post, however, does not meet that criteria.

Are this week's songs up?

Well, it looks like the sloppy play of the Les Paul controller carries over into RB. The thing misses way to many notes, I don't understand why :(

Was there a fix I missed that came up?

Nope. As the PSN Store thread says things usually go up at 5:30 PM EST. It should also, based on the thread, include GH: Aerosmith. The RB 1.5 update, however, is already up.

Charlene should probably be up when the All That Remains songs go live then. Gotta remember that the Rock Band store tends to update a few hours before then PSN store too.

I went and traded in RB1 today at GS. They lowered the TIV to 12 bucks since yesterday, so that was kinda disappointing, but I got like 14 something with the 20% bonus.

On my wife's GH (X360) guitar the red button has started being flaky... sometimes registers button presses, sometimes doesn't.... is there anything that can be done, or is it a lost cause and we should just buy another guitar on Sunday when we pick up Rock Band 2?
I'm going to assume that's the Les Paul, and not the Xplorer.
Your controller has one of two problems. Either the neck has gotten too loose, and the pins are starting to break contact, or the contacts are wearing out.
If it's too loose, this is the easiest, safest temporary fix.
http://www.grownupgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?p=120141
Make the rubber band just tight enough to make red work consistently, no more. Otherwise, you risk making the contacts on the guitar body wear out faster.
If the contacts are worn, you can tin them with solder. I've also heard here that scribbling on the worn spots with a soft pencil can offer a temporary fix.
God, I hate the Les Paul.

It's a gamble with the Bass. It's nice having the solo buttons and effects switch and the design, but the pick can be a bit flimsy. I'd say try the Bass.

Does the bass have a solid Overdrive deploy? (i.e. it's not sensitive as hell)

Just in time too!

Congrats.

I'm still stuck on Foreplay/Long Time and Don't Fear the Reaper on expert drums. :(

Is it just the beginning of Foreplay/long time? If so you can probably treat the double snare hits as single ones and edge through. With the end of DFTR, try to keep your foot matched up with your right hand, and use the green crash to help keep you synced to the beat.

Alright, I'll keep that in mind later tonight when I give them another crack.

thanks.

I still don't get trading it in. I mean, ok, I don't understand trading in games ever (when I buy something I do so with the understanding that it will be forever), but even in this case. Some of the songs didn't transfer over and even if they did it's nice to have it in case you accidentally delete a song, have hard drive problems, a host of reasons. I really don't trust anything digital to stay safe and reasonably permanent. I mean, I can still play my original cartridge of Bionic Commando today (well, I could if my NES was working), but I doubt I'll have the same ability to replay Rearmed in 20 years.

I'd say that, at least, the peace of mind from having the original disc and being able to re-use it if need be for any sort of reason is well-worth not getting $14 in trade-in credit.

Sorry to sound condescending, but your face isn't all too familiar anyway.

I'm still here!
I'm a regular, right?

For Foreplay, you *got* to hit all the bass kicks you can when you go the half-snare route. You're gonna lose a lot of life so every little bit to save you is needed. Nailing the fills and much of the cymbal rides will help too.

DFTR, it helped me to have my pedal on a loud floor so I could better count the kicks, but that might distract you and make it worse, so I can't universally suggest that.
