Man, I'm so ignorant to real art.

Okay.

I want the music from Meshuggah as DLC. Also Opeth. Also Bloodbath. Now we can have Costanza flipping out going "ARGH METAL" and life will be awesome.

MAH BRIMLEYS

ahem. How much is a RB2 wireless drum kit? Are the cymbol packs in store too?

$90, Gamestops seem to be getting them in 2 at a time, mine did, and the guys at the rockband.com forums are saying the same thing, as they aren't street dated like the game. Haven't seen any of the cymbals yet, but they are supposed to be $30 for a 3 pack.

That said, I just picked up my copy of the new drumset and the game, and I have to say, it blows the old kit out of the water. I've only played one song so far (Drain You by Nirvana, haven't unlocked much yet), but the bass pedal seems to be much "springier," and the pads are MUCH softer, quieter, and a bit bouncier as well. Sadly, it seems there's no way of getting double bass yet.... sucks that they couldn't just put another port on the kit (there is a port that appears to be it, but Alex Rigopulos himself said that it was a MIDI port for hooking something or another up from a real electric kit).

The one thing I haven't found is the music listening mode. I remember hearing that there would be a jukebox mode where you could just listen to the music without playing. A minor feature sure, but it would be nice while I clean the room and whatnot.

All I have noticed in the Halo thread is that instead of posting Hayley pictures they go crazy for that Brimley diabetes guy. It's pretty funny though.
That's pretty much just me, and my folder (not in the 4chan way or anything, I like the man as an actor and physical being). It's not quite on the same level as the Rock Band Hayley meme.

Also Rock Band is fun...

$120... probably about £70. I think I can justify that to myself.

Right, Barcelona now, see you guys tomorrow night. Then we can get to the plans of what I try and sneak off and do at EA campus next week. I've just seen the cost to them of sending me there... I think they're using the RB profits.

Activision were going to fly me to play GH:WT, until they realised I was in the UK and not North America.

EA > Activision.

3.28GB? Of mah brimleys?

It's more likely than you think.

I often wonder if there are other threads like this. Do the guys in the Halo 3 thread just talk about bullshit to one another? Or the Virtual Console one? There's a whole world out there we just don't know.

...unless you post in those threads I guess.

Halo 3 thread is like a catch all for anything remotely related to Halo or Bungie.
We bullshit plenty, have plenty of our own inside jokes seperate from gaf. We also had a PAX meetup with roughly 15 of us easily topping the general GAF meetup. We were comfortable sharing hotel rooms, having gotten to know each other so well from the thread / playing online.

Mostly we argue the finer details of Halo 3 multiplayer though.

Speaking of which, we could use a three pack of porn soundtracks. I mean, the well-known theme from Debbie Does Dallas alone would be perfect.

Sounds organised! I guess that's what 70k posts can do.

This is for The Sims though. I'm just going to try and cause trouble at EA when I'm there. :P

They tried it last year, but apparently then being a minor mattered, and having someone go with me cost too much. Doesn't cost too much this year. My first email reply to them pretty much ammounted to "British Gaming Blog... key word, British. And you're talking... EA, in America, like, not Britain."

Maybe you'll see Jeff Green. That'll make the trip worth it no matter what else happens.

I once dreamt that I met Jeff Green at a concert once. I think it was a MUSE gig. More MUSE in Rock Band would be pretty great. Jeff Green in Rock Band would be great too!

I think we need some Wired All Wrong DLC. Yes I stole my GAF name from them and they are awesome. Not sure if it would work for Rock Band though.

I think the drums would be a blast to play. Vocals would be awesome too since it has Matt from Self singing which happens to be my favorite band.

The XFM version is the only Cheers Theme I want in RB....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0D_-ek8T074&feature=related

An ok version, but replacing the piano riff with a searing guitar riff would be better.

This also, tangentially, reminds me of something I've often wondered about: why so many female bassists? Aside from vocalists it seems like there is a very large number of bands where the only female member is the bassist: Smashing Pumpkins, The Pixies, Sonic Youth, Talking Heads... I can't explain or entirely understand why this is. It doesn't even feel like someone's girlfriend got roped into playing bass or (entirely) feel like guys with huge egos demanding to play guitar and shoving women down to play the (in their stunted misogynistic guitarist minds) inferior bass parts.

Rock Band needs some good Faith No More. It hasn't had any yet.

See also; Queens of the Stone Age.
Yeah, I didn't care for We Care A Lot and I have to agree on the Queen of the Stone Age. I mean, I like 3's & 7's and Little Sister, but why in the hell did they choose to put Sick, Sick, Sick in the game. I can't stand that song.

I don't understand why anybody would pick a QOTSA song made after Songs for the Deaf came out. And even Go With The Flow is like, the worst song on SFTD. I really want some Queens from albums I love, like R, self titled and SFTD.

And as for Faith No More, Epic has always been a bit of a joke song, and We Care A Lot is a cool song but not really..."fun".

That's a good question. The Pilfers is another band that has a female bass player and when I saw them live she looked like a soccer mom or something. Awesome bass player and awesome band. We need some more all female bands. I'd like to see the Lunachicks in Rock Band. Great punk band with some great lyrics.

At least Rock Band already has QotSA. WHERE THE FUCK ARE FRANZ FERDINAND?!

Oh, Euro band lulz

Harmonix has a freaking hard-on for them. They've gotten a ton of coverage going back to GH1. It's not that I hate them (I'm not a fan and I hate playing their songs, but that's as far as it goes), but they're not nearly noteworthy enough to have this much in the game. I mean, yeah, we've had a ton of Ozzy/Sabbath, but they're still finding huge hits to put into the games.

Why not The Yardbirds? Frankly that entire segment of bands is so damned interconnected I need a chart to work out who was in what before they went on to form something else with another person who then became famous with yet another influential band.

I will also reiterate that Tom Petty would be good for some of the sort of straightforward guitar-based classic rock that works really well for the series and is sometimes the least represented.

Quick and to the Pointless would be nice from Rated R.
SONG FOR THE DEAD

and definitely Falling to Pieces from FNM.

Good idea. I will watch that episode right now.

Even though it's really basic, I don't think you can have a song from Rated R in Rock Band and not make it Feel Good Hit Of The Summer. This is, after all, marketed as a party game.

It wouldn't be that fun to sing without the inevitable censored lyrics though!

I've been playing Team Fortress since '97 or so when the mod was originally released for QuakeWorld. I used to write for one of the major TF news sites for a long, long time. I had been anticipating TF2 since it was originally announced as a Quake II mod and then got hyped over some interesting-sounding new game called Half-Life when they announced it was going to be a mod for that. I used to have Robin Walker on my ICQ list.

Yeah, I play TF2. :D

My computer died in December and I've been in the continual process of trying to find out what's wrong with it and get it fixed since then. Seriously, one day I was browsing the web and it just shut off and wouldn't turn back on. After six months of heavy and regular use since I upgraded it. Since then I've sent back the motherboard twice and when it comes back it will power on, but then flake out after a short period of time and shut down unexpectedly. I've thought it might be overheating, but that certainly doesn't explain why it was fine for the first six months and now is plagued with problems. The last time it died and won't reboot after about three hours up or so. The time before that it went through a number of cycles of powering off unexpectedly, but then rebooting and running fine for a while. Then it finally died out (after being on for about three hours or so) sometime while it was in suspend-to-RAM and shouldn't have been generating much heat at all.

This is really, really, amazingly annoying and problematic. Even worse is that I'm primarily a PC gamer.

I'm only online due to my girlfriend's terribly slow laptop.

It's bumping from the bass hits so much it looks like you're driving over some terribly maintained road or something.

This just feels like GH2 all over again. People want hard songs so they go out of their way to give us ludicrously hard songs. Sadly, the hardcore minority just laps it up and demands more so we get more ludicrously difficult DLC. If they want to go that way with the GH franchise, well... they've been doing so already. I still think that Rock Band should try to keep things a bit closer to the middle. Yes, RB1 was a tad too easy on guitar on-disc, but RB2 seems like it wants to include something to punish everyone in the band.

I think I'm the only person who strongly opposes dual kick pedals for the game. I don't want to play anything where I'd need to go to such levels. It would definitely be a prison sex experience for me.

Isn't their new song Lucid Dreams (from the Madden soundtrack) coming via DLC? That song is good stuff.

It's great that's for sure. It better be, it's the only redeeming song on the Madden soundtrack for me.

A Franz 3-pack
(or discography)
would be preferred though.

Take Me Out
The Fallen
Lucid Dreams

Shit, if you've been playing since 97 then I take it back. You'll run circles around me.

*DELETES FRIEND*

Maybe, but I'm not the hardcore type really. I also have a group of friends I've known since the old days that I play with so there's certainly safety in the numbers.

So not only is Visions a fucking terrible song by itself, it's also extremely difficult and not fun at all to play on every instrument.

I kinda hope it's in the game because of ScoreHero kiddies, and not because HMX thought it was a genuinely good song to nicely compliment the other bonus songs.
Even people on Scorehero think the chart is ludicrous. :lol
