So not only is Visions a fucking terrible song by itself, it's also extremely difficult and not fun at all to play on every instrument.

I kinda hope it's in the game because of ScoreHero kiddies, and not because HMX thought it was a genuinely good song to nicely compliment the other bonus songs.

Why do we persist in calling it ScoreHero instead of "PatheticLosers" as it really is?

I kid, I kid. The super-hardcore players there really scare me though .

I think it's in there because:

1. the singer works there
2. there has yet to be a song from this genre represented
3. there actually IS an audience out there for this, however small
4. it's the new jordan, but for drums.
5. epic lulz

I officially wore my arm out playing the most recent awesome full album DLC
Death Magnetic
.

No more plastic guitar for me until Sunday!

$90, Gamestops seem to be getting them in 2 at a time, mine did, and the guys at the rockband.com forums are saying the same thing, as they aren't street dated like the game. Haven't seen any of the cymbals yet, but they are supposed to be $30 for a 3 pack.

Hmm... at that price it seems like it almost makes more sense to just get the bundle than the standalone drums. I mean, game + drums works out to $150 on it's own.

Activision were going to fly me to play GH:WT, until they realised I was in the UK and not North America.

EA > Activision.

How do you people keep getting sent around for these sorts of things? Am I the only person here who isn't a game designer, journalist, or shop owner?

My only music game until Sunday is AI Karaoke Revolution Encore :(

this sucks

I sadly own that. Plus all the DLC. I have never even loaded it up because I don't like singing and I fucking loathe AI.

I still can't believe that vocalist on Visions is a girl.

Is this the proper time to begin theorizing about her oral sex skills? Because, well, that would be very sexist and wrong. So very, very wrong.

Costanza said:
I got it on clearance for like.. 10 bucks a few months ago. Barely play it.

why in the hell would you buy all the DLC for it?

I didn't. I got it as part of the deal when I bought my PS3. They gave me the master account on the machine as well and had bought all the DLC for it. They also had bought that damn Poker game, the damn bowling game, and that fucking skydiving game. Of course, no good PSN games.

All the RB DLC though. Part of the reason I want a delete option is so I can get rid of some of it.

I'm non. It was a "community day", so various people (nerds) from around the country (internet) got invited to try out (advertise) their game for them. Being the anchor that keeps the Guitar Hero franchise stable I managed to join the likes of "Random Scorehero poster" and "random Frets on Fire forum member" in the invite list. M3wThr33 got to go to it as well. Presumably because they wanted a grumpy PS3 owner to say nice things about them, cos we all know you PS3 owners stick together.

I also have American Idol: Encore. And I have it for Wii. I played it once and decided it was broken cos it said I couldn't sing Black Hole Sun, when I've TOTALLY sang Black Hole Sun in Rock Band without problems.

Damn. I wish I'd known about that. I wondered what exactly it was M3w was off to.

Hmm... I need to get back into Frets on Fire. Do the USB guitars work in it? That was always the biggest reason I never played more. That and the low quality of many charts, the fact that it often crashed, and my computer crashing out on me.

I use my Strat to play Frets on Fire on occasion. Alt strumming doesn't really work properly. Which kinda ruins the fun. But yeah, they work. The X-Plorer too.

we have found our new hayley!

Does chocolate cotton candy even exist? I was searching google images and nothing I wanted popped up. Too bad, that would've provoked a decent response from costanza.

In other news, I've just learned that all twenty super walmarts within 50 miles of my area code are open 24/7. Rock Band 2 for me tomorrow night!

Halo 3 thread is like a catch all for anything remotely related to Halo or Bungie.
We bullshit plenty, have plenty of our own inside jokes seperate from gaf. We also had a PAX meetup with roughly 15 of us easily topping the general GAF meetup. We were comfortable sharing hotel rooms, having gotten to know each other so well from the thread / playing online.

Mostly we argue the finer details of Halo 3 multiplayer though.
I can vouch for him (see my number of posts in that thread).

Nobody really thought my story about listening to Misery Business with a pic of Hayley on the screen and then shooting my load into a wad of pink cotton candy was serious, RIGHT?

Is that your actual flag? It's awful.

Yeah, it is. To both.

While the Union flag does look pretty good it's still just an amalgam of three other, simpler flags so it doesn't get off entirely either.

The American flag is perhaps a bit too busy, but at least we still use the same three colors that every other damn flag uses. It also has some easily discernible and useful information.

Frankly I prefer the flags that rely on three bands. Simple and easy to draw even if they don't look particularly great when turned into a bikini.

The California flag is one of the better state flags. Fairly simple too. It just has an extinct bear species and "California Republic" on it so you know where you're talking about and that we don't tolerate bears.

The Kansas flag was absolutely horrible and the sort of thing that is very hard for schoolchildren to draw.

Also, really offtopic, but I'm positive Unregistered007 is a joke account by the moderators. Dude's never been banned and trolled left 4 dead in the gttv topic, and teknopathetic hasn't banned him. I'm calling it right here, right now.

Belgand, analyze this.

The English flag is the greatest flag of all time. That isn't even up for debate. It's perfect. The Union Jack I have no affection for.

I'm with you on that. Bold, striking, looks good on your tabbard (although you do end up looking like a crusader though). Everything a flag ought to be.

The Scottish flag is also pretty good as well. But honestly it's really just the same thing tilted and in different colours. I happen to be partial to blue even if it isn't quite as bold a design as the English flag.

I am a heavily lapsed (and never terribly involved) SCAdian though. I used to know at least a smattering of heraldry.

Arizona is a mixture of Texas and Japan.

Not a bad flag though, definitely one of the top half of the state flags. If your state flag has some terrible seal on it it fails. Likewise if, like South Carolina, you have some terribly non-standard design that looks ugly and doesn't feel enough like a flag to anyone else.

The Union Jack is the bollocks. It ties me and you together

I thought that was the concept of transportation. Also being pissed at the effete pommies. Or putting the Queen on your money.

Well, maybe you don't count vocals as an instrument, but I totally got the flawless vocals achievement from playing this one during the impossible battle. And cracked myself and my fiancée up doing so. So I'd say it's fun AND easy on vocals! ;p

OK it probably gets old the second time you have to sing it, but still...

On another note, I've been playing through some of the challenges and battles of the bands, and while they seem like a fun addition, it's kind of annoying that there's not a more comprehensive way to see how you do in them. In the ones where it's judged by score, you need a full band together or else you're stuck way down at the bottom with only one or two instruments no matter how well you do, and on the ones it's ranked by stars, you can often do better just by playing one instrument, easy bass, and just full comboing the song, than you could playing whatever level you're actually comfortable with. I know there are too many combinations of band members and difficulty levels to really make easy score comparison separation possible, but it seems like there has to be a better way to do it than the way it is now...

Also, on the challenges it doesn't seem like there's too much incentive to play on harder difficulty levels as you advance, but I might be missing something as I've only begun to play through them.

Perhaps you unlock different outfits for the higher difficulties? It's a shame they didn't really do that in RB1. Just that guitar you get for anything medium or above.

I can't believe you guys are going off-topic to post flags and then not post this one:

Libya has THE best flag in the entire world...(also it was really good for being a complete smart ass in geography class when we had to pick a country to "make" their flag)

It's good, but a bit too plain to really stand out. I mean, it's a clever idea, but no. I at least need to have some form of ornamentation on the field.

Ok, so my one buddy has a modded 360 and he has this already. So naturally I been over there playing quite a lot. There is one thing that bugs me about the game, and I don't know if it's been talked about in this thread at all.......that is the Rock Band 2 scoring system. Yeah, not so cool (at least IMO)

So the way it keeps track of scoring is kinda borked. It gives you an overall score, which takes into effect Rock Band 2 songs and any Rock Band 1 or DLC songs you may have played while in Quickplay or Tour mode. Then, it also gives you another score which only counts for any band things you do.... (i.e Tour and Challenges).

The thing that really sucks about the scoring IMO is that it doesn't break the scoring down by instrument. For example, when we look and see the high score for "Eye of the Tiger" it just gives us one score, it doesn't give us a high score for drums or guitar or vocals individually, just one over-arching score (which then goes toward your overall score, and may or may not go towards your band score, depending if you played in Quickplay mode or if you played it in Tour mode with your band). So basically, It just displays whatever the high score is for any time that you've played the song regardless of instrument. Pretty annoying if you ask me. I don't understand why they would not break it down.

Also, a little quirk we noticed is that (and I don't remember if this was the same for RB1) but that when we played in Tour mode we played a song on hard and got 5 stars on it, so it marked a little "H" by the song and put 5 stars next to the name of the song on the venue screen. Then we went back and tried that same exact song, at the same venue and all, on expert and got 4 stars on it. When we went back to the venue screen it displayed a little "X" by the song to denote expert, but there were still 5 stars by the song, even though we only got 4 stars while playing it on expert.

That is weird. I guess it can't take your stars away from your previous performance, but it also wants to show that you did it on expert. The whole concept of flexible difficulty becomes problematic with the way Tour mode is set up. Almost every solution has a problem with it.

Actually, as far as showing it, why not just list your highest scoring playthrough with the stars and difficulty from that?
