Enjoy! Personally, I love living in Miami. Wouldn't live anywhere else. Wish there was a Miami arena included in RB. :(
Wouldn't mind a Miami area, if only because it'd mean some latin-flavored tracks.

Also, the Ion kit continues to kick ass. Unfortunately, there's one major drawback...I find I'm hitting the drums harder, and using a much greater range of motion. While in of itself this isn't too much of an issue, coupled with the 5 hour non-stop session the other night has left my right arm dead.

Normally I'd rest the arm, but the Ion kit is still set up...and keeps calling my name....

It won't let you name a character "Spice" either. Guess that is closer to the slur you are looking for.

A greatest hits collection by Queen. Includes some very rare recordings like "if only" and "no chance".

So I just downloaded these songs now, and WOW, this is probably the greatest downloadable pack to ever hit Rock Band, and it's free no less!

If only I could play "no chance"

I do, but songs from the Japanese edition or more Avenged Sevenfold would put an end to that, without a doubt.

Also, I was just reading Pitchfork for the first time, thanks to this thread. I started with the home page, not the link. You know that GIF with the guy reaching into his computer monitor and smacking someone? Yeah, that about sums up my reaction.

Wow. Reading Pitchfork is not advised. I think the best parody and comment on it is delivered by the Onion: "Pitchfork Gives Music 6.8"

Does the ION set play the correct pad sounds in free play mode? Ie yellow cymbal = high hat while yellow pad = tom.
Yes, it does, both in Freestyle mode and during fills (I love doing off-tempo high hat trills during some songs, especially when I don't want to trigger overdrive). Although I have noticed a few times when the green tom has triggered the crash sound. Now that I mention it, though, I wonder if that's only been at the start of a freestyle session...before I've hit the green crash. That is, it's possible the game doesn't know the cymbal is there until it's hit.

I just took a few shots of my set. Excuse the messiness of the room, and the fact that the Muppet Movie one sheet still needs to get hung on the wall.
I'm really hoping other people with ION kits post images of theirs, espeically of the layout and pad positioning they've gone with.

my kit...they give you black zip ties to manage the cables, and I'll use them as soon as I decide on a final setting....maybe...
IMG_4594.jpg

the layout...I pushed the green tom out and wide because I still use it as a crash in a number of songs
IMG_4596.jpg

the view of the screen...I'm fine as long as the drum road isn't on the left...
IMG_4597.jpg

if it's on the left, I adjust myself a little and play like this. I still have to memorize the snare hits for a number of songs, but that's probably the easiest to follow along with...
IMG_4598.jpg

the instructions tell you to be careful of the brain, so I've really buried it under the rack. I have to reach under to use the controls, but it's not something that comes up much.

Man... there's this 'epicness' about playing Livin' on a Prayer on all instruments.

Need more Bon Jovi... shit... I can't believe I said that. :O
welcome aboard the bon jovi train

The filter deems "Barack Obama" to not be "classy". Biased Republican pigs. :P

I need to do the rest of the US candidates. McCain will be fun to create.

Agreed. I still say we need to get "Born to Run" (or perhaps a full album DLC or either that or Born in the USA) and add the Meadowlands as a venue for New York.

I still wish they'd done "You Give Love A Bad Name" rather than the two Bon Jovi songs they've chosen, but at least they're getting better.

So it's obviously just the "Obama" part being a bit too close to "Osama" I suspect. CONFIRMED: the filter was created by FoxNews commentators.

Any impressions on the RB2 guitar yet? I just bought one impulsively, but I'm afraid to open it in case the strum isn't changed from the first one. I hope it's more like the GH guitars....

If they start including latin songs, any Mana song will do it, specially for the drums.

"Oye Como Va" would be a nice segue actually. Probably not the best song on vocals, but you'll have wonderfully drumming and guitar at least. After checking the tab (or at least, Hal Leonard's idea of what the tab might actually be) though the bass part would be a tad dry.

Nah, Living on a Prayer and WDOA are better songs.

You know what Harmonix needs to do? I don't know, umm... downloadable Bon Jovi songs. We get Locksley and Panic at the Disco and All That Remains, yet we don't get more Bon Jovi despite them licensing multiple songs. I can't see Harmonix getting only two Bon Jovi hits.

They're likely saving You Give Love A Bad Name for RB3. They should pull a Boston pack again – get all their best songs and call it a day.

Do Ron Paul plz.
Eh, maybe.

Edit: Seeing Obama belt out Alanis Morissette is hilarious.

Bon Jovi get old. Fast.
Not to me. And it'd be better than the shit they've released post-Who pack. And it'd be great at parties even if you hate the band itself.

Also, I bet you'd have fun playing Dry County.

Just finished a three hour play session after picking up this game today after work.

Well, it's Rock Band. Love the fact that I can do WBT all by myself, and even have the option to switch instruments.

However, I'm not crazy about the song selection at the beginning. Love PDA, but everything else I played seemed meh. Sure hope that the later songs are better and some of the early songs grown on me. Of course, I only got through a bunch of songs once, so I may be premature in that feeling.

Definitely with you on that one. I haven't bought a thing since The Who pack, but I'd buy a Bon Jovi classics pack in a heartbeat. As long as it had Bad Medicine.

Yeah, they need to just do a pack because, well, they only have a handful of decent songs when they focus-grouped them, hired songwriters to fix them up, and marketed the hell out of them. Definitely one of the most commercial bands that wasn't actually pre-fab.

YGLABN is better than WDOA though, Wanted just isn't that great of a song.

As for releases, well, I think that they've been under increased pressure from MTV and have been busier trying to do their own work on RB2. In between that it seems like they want to release various incredibly hard songs to sate the hardcore ScoreHero crowd. Still, I think that MTV and promotional interests are to blame for all the really crappy releases. The early releases were generally pretty solid, but a lot more singles.

Checked the last few pages, didn't see this:

Hey all,

Just a quick update on a couple of things people have been asking about since RB2's launch yesterday.

First off, thank you to all of you who've bought Rock Band 2 and are online playing the 84 master tracks that came with the game! As promised, Harmonix will be delivering 20 songs of free DLC to customers who buy Rock Band 2. This content will be available later this fall. Stay tuned for news re: official release date for these tracks.

Combined with our consistent download offering of songs, albums and packs, we're continuing to deliver on our promise of bringing alot of music out there weekly for the Rock Band platform. By the end of 2008, there will be over 500 songs across Rock Band (RB1 Disc, RB2 Disc and DLC).

We hope this answers your questions about the free tracks. We'll be announcing the exact tracks as we get closer to the release date. In the meantime, we hope you're enjoying working through the epic RB2 tracklist!

Lastly, some folks have been asking about the status of the previously discussed Jukebox Mode. This mode was removed from Rock Band 2 in the final stages of development. We have no immediate plans to bring this feature back to the platform in the future.

Hope this clears up any confusion!

Damn... played all day and now my arms are so sore. So awesome!

Now I need a new Guitar. My Les Paul is a POS. I've lost so many FC's because the Green button decided to die out.

how do you choose/switch the stand ins around?
In your band set up (where you make your band logo) you can choose your stand-in roster.

I've been liking to keep the vocalist empty, as it tries to match a vocalist with whatever the first song you choose is. Start with Charlene...always.

WTF?

How is "Ignignokt" not a classy band name?

Does this game have some incredibly strange censorship rules, or is there some other requirement it's going off of.

It said nothing regarding my band, "Tamponator".
