Does the ION set play the correct pad sounds in free play mode? Ie yellow cymbal = high hat while yellow pad = tom.
Yes, it does, both in Freestyle mode and during fills (I love doing off-tempo high hat trills during some songs, especially when I don't want to trigger overdrive). Although I have noticed a few times when the green tom has triggered the crash sound. Now that I mention it, though, I wonder if that's only been at the start of a freestyle session...before I've hit the green crash. That is, it's possible the game doesn't know the cymbal is there until it's hit.
I just took a few shots of my set. Excuse the messiness of the room, and the fact that the Muppet Movie one sheet still needs to get hung on the wall.
I'm really hoping other people with ION kits post images of theirs, espeically of the layout and pad positioning they've gone with.
my kit...they give you black zip ties to manage the cables, and I'll use them as soon as I decide on a final setting....maybe...
the layout...I pushed the green tom out and wide because I still use it as a crash in a number of songs
the view of the screen...I'm fine as long as the drum road isn't on the left...
if it's on the left, I adjust myself a little and play like this. I still have to memorize the snare hits for a number of songs, but that's probably the easiest to follow along with...
the instructions tell you to be careful of the brain, so I've really buried it under the rack. I have to reach under to use the controls, but it's not something that comes up much.
