1) goto xbox.com, sign in, and do the license transfer to your new box.

2) yes, it'd mess things up... DLC is tied to HDD AND Console S/N, that's why you need to do the license transfer for the DRM stuff to work offline.
OK, thanks. Tied to the console is lame :( So I could just bring my whole console over to his room and do this right, and also DL Peace Sells and everything would be good, correct?

correct. just remember that the license transfer is only able to be done once every so often (I think 6 months per item).

According to his blog, Dan's favourite band is AC/DC, by the way.

It'll be a large DLC pack similar to The Who released around the time AC/DC releases their Black Ice album.

I guess what I'm asking is, well... is there a third way to unlock Visions (ignoring random setlists and the challenges)?
Why ignore the challenges? I unlocked every song doing the challenges that would open up another 12 or so when I beat them (I think they were the 5 or 6 song marathons).

Well, because I've unlocked every other song in the game and I'd like to unlock Visions ASAP.

I might as well do the challenges though, I have to do them sometime.

Picked up RB2 and am enjoying it so far. Don't have access to live or to my drums, but love the new tracks. Overall, better tracks than 1.

I played this at the SRK/Neo-Geo.com SRK meltdown this weekend, and a few expert drum players failed because the long drum rolls didn't register. Do I have to get new drums, or will harmonix fix them?

Also, ? about transferring RB1 to play on 2 - How much space does take on the HD? I only have a 20 gigger and won't upgrade soon.

You'll open up a ton of other challenges to go along with all your DLC, which is awesome. Worth the time to replay the songs.

Oh yeah, we need Violent Femmes DLC.

Today's DLC is mad fun to play.

I watched the charts on my lunch break and the songs by Dashboard Confessional and The Cab both look really fun. The other two Tour Pack songs look alright. I couldn't care less about Megadeath. There's already too much metal in Rock Band1/2/DLC.

Costanza said:
Just bought all of this week's DLC even though I'll never play the Megadeth album. *sigh*

I don't understand you people. Why not just flush $12 down the toilet. Why would you buy something you don't want?

Collectors are weirdos. You could say the same about people that pay for figurines and lunchboxes with their games, or the crusty guy who collects stamps. Useless possessions but it brings them joy anyway.

I suppose, but those figurines and stamps are something they actually want, and actually have some level of "collector's value" to them. I suppose Costanza wants the songs just to have the, but that just seems to alien to me. They hold no value as there won't be a limited run of them like a special stamp or action figure. They can't be sold to anybody else as they're an encrypted digital file so they hold zero resale value. Apart from the entertainment value they bring, they are worth nothing, so why buy them if you get no entertainment from them?

I don't know. I guess I really want to have 500 songs by the end of the year :\

Fair enough. I collect shot glasses just because I like the designs and memories associated with them, so I guess I have no room to talk.

i can borrow my friend's rock band 1 and export the songs to rock band 2, right? I don't want to copy it over if it's going to not allow him to do it later when he gets Rock Band 2.

I'm assuming it's possible since the game discs are all pressed the same.

I have a related question.

I used my original game disc to buy the key, but it crapped out on me during the export (DRE at Wanted Dead or Alive).

If I rent another copy, will I still be able to use my key or is it tied to the disc? If that's even possible...

Why did you sell the disc before you finished the export? Were you just really antsy to get a good deal on the trade-in before the value dropped?

I never sold mine, I still have it, but Wanted Dead or Alive is toast and the export halts on DRE and won't go past it :/

..it's just a number man, and it benefits them more than you. if you're not going to play the songs why bother not only wasting money but cluttering up your quickplay list with more stuff you dont touch?

either way, it's a shame because the album is fucking fantastic.

I just wish all this stuff wasn't seen as 'metal' because it lowers the chances of me seeing the stuff I actually want (which is technically metal, but a hell of a lot heavier... sort of like Visions but much more melodic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQlTFr1vy1o )

Yes, but you have to pay 400 MS points ($5) to do it.

Ouch. Just hit my first wall drumming, probably at a pathetically easy point. :( Been ploughing through medium drums, getting 92%+ on all songs first time, until I tried Green Grass and High Tides. Got about half way through thinking it was fine, then a sudden change of pattern, just couldn't get into it, failed miserably seconds later. :(

Yep, that's the first wall. First song I ever failed on drums, myself.

Funny that I can now go and get 460,000 or so on Expert. I've improved pretty fast over a year. Maybe by this time next year I'll be playing it on real drums! :lol

GGaHT on drums is easier on hard.

I completely suck at that song. I just can't hold the latter half's rhythm.

All great Rock Band drummers have hit that wall on their way to mastery.

You probably could play it on real drums in a few months. Its more of a endurance test than a tricky song. How's the drum set holding up? I tried to finally order it last week, but they are back-ordered till October :(

I love the new talky phenome thing on RB2. I destroyed my old scores from RB1 with it.

that makes sense...It was pretty tough for me to get 100% on Sabotage on RB1 (even though I rap for real and know most of the song). But the first time I played So Whatcha' Want, I got 100% and I barely knew the song :lol

Exactly. There are hits accompanying the bass - RY - bass - RY x 999999 that make it way easier.

If you really just want to beat it on medium, I think I ended up passing it by ignoring the bass pedal.

I gold starred it on my first try :lol It's seriously easy ... you just have to avoid falling asleep at the wheel.

My wall was Don't Fear The Reaper, but that was because my drum set just wouldn't let me pass it. Then I put pennies under my sensors and tada, passed it right away and plowed through the rest.

No, I meant on Medium. Expert is a breeze comparatively (after getting tons of practice through the other songs).

October? Man. They must only make, like, two or three and then just be like "ok, break time!".

But it's holding up well. Cymbals got dented to hell at a jam session when some real drummers took to it, but oh well, they were gonna get replaced anyway, they're too gong-like. I don't doubt I'll work out GG&HT eventually, it's just the bass dynamics are so different from RB to real drums. I can manage double-kicks in the game, but on the real kit I'm still working on that- either the tension's too high and every kick's a double, or it's right for single kicks but the difference in pressure placement makes doubles harder.

All these improvements to the RB2 kit and they didn't really fix the pedal. For shame.

I got stuck on GGAHT on medium too - so I left it and went onto hard. I passed it on hard career before medium. I can now 5* it on hard yet wouldn't feel comfortable playing it on medium :D

It annoys me how blatant these difficulty spikes are though - there are maybe 10 songs in the game that are much easier on harder difficulties

i pretty much stopped playing drums seriously there. also i feel like the drums have a very slight and odd delay even though my guitar is calibrated fine. i still play drums for fun, especially when a bunch of us are getting together, but tbh i just prefer guitar tho i know that's a minority opinion among rb fans.

Well, I'm glad it's not just me then. :D Figured that might be the case when I switched over to one of the other songs in the same tier and hit five stars. Gave it another go mostly ignoring the bass pedal and got 90% of the way through before failing. Felt dirty, though. I'm just going to have to get to grips with that rhythm. Think I'll try hard mode, though - seems like a good plan anyway.

Just to check whether I've been improving I went back to a couple of earlier songs and hit about 99% (there's always that one section that creeps up on you...) so I must be doing something right.

I agree on the guitar thing, even though I cannot play all the songs in expert

I'm sure it's been posted repeatedly here, but how do i unlock all the songs right from the start? Just wanna jump in without bothering with the challenges and tours for now.

Thx.

then it should show up in uh extras or something

I played drums for the first time when RB came out. Started on medium for maybe 10 songs, but it was too easy, so jumped straight into hard. my first roadblock was I think either Vasoline or DOA. wait. crap. I actually started on hard and did 10 then jumped to expert. but yeah, Vasoline (which is now ridiculously easy) and Dead on Arrival (which also still retains its toughness in terms of the fast fills, but otherwise is pretty easy now).

the hardest thing for me to 'grasp' initially was two bass pedal kicks for one snare hit.. or 16th notes on feet if that makes more sense.

it took me maybe about a month from when it came out to beat RTTH. Man, that shit is still pretty nuts if you don't have a fully functional pad, and even then it's tiring.

I don't think I've gotten that much better over the year since I maxed out what I was capable of doing in the game. I beat Blackened and Blinded by Fear (though not hitting all the notes ! it's too fast for me), and I've beaten everything on RB2 except visions (which I'm sure I can beat if I try a few more times).

moral of the story - keep playing and you'll get better in no time, and have a blast doing so! I guess I've technically played drums for a year now, which kicks total ass!
