Wouldn't you want hyperspeed if you were singing "One Week" by Barenaked Ladies? Or would you rather have the game leave the text speed at something more along the lines of "Black Hole Sun"? Then the words would be all scrunched up and dyslexic people everywhere would write some very nasty letters.

Holy FUCK. Has anyone even TRIED Megadeth on drums? they are by far the hardest drum songs in the game, can barely make it to 50-60% on them, whereas I can beat every other song.... maybe if I turned on hyperspeed... but nah, I ain't a bitch like that.

AINT GOIN OUT LIKE NO SUCKA
Yeah I tried them on drums...

:(

Hardest bass pedal rythyms ever.

Karaoke Revolution has one week, and it's hell to sight-read.

It's an option.

Are all game options turned on from the start in any game? No.

It's a choice for you to use it. If you use it, fine. If you don't, fine.

Either choice is equally valid for playing the game.

Either choice results in you playing the same notes.

Either choice doesn't alter the amount of physical dexterity required to complete the task.
I know, all that is true and I am being a stubborn dick about it but I still don't like the idea of people using it. I'll try it on a difficult song and see if I do any better but I know I will feel guilty when using it. Just like I feel guilty using a cheat code or FAQ, both of which I try as little as possible.

I liked the music discussion, requests, and critiques one better. When does that come back?
When you stop complaining.

It's not a cheat code.

The use of speed modifiers in a game which provides them should give you no more guilt than using auto-fire in a shooter which lets you configure a button to auto-fire.

Good lord, kids these days. The new generation of rhythm gamers are the worst. Hi-Speed is cheating? Give me a break. The only time this argument has ever been valid in the HISTORY of music games was back when Dance Dance Revolution finally allowed for speed modifiers and suddenly, songs like "Orion 78" and "BAG" became stupidly easy. Other than this one exception, they've always been a welcome addition to any music game and never seen as a crutch.

Kids these days. I bet you think the bar is cool :(

I love playing on hyperspeed. Not having it in the original RB was one of my biggest complaints. I LOVE being able to re-play the RB1 songs now with hyperspeed turned on. It's so much more enjoyable.

Fuck people who complain about it. Play the game how you want.

Starting with....

More Stones! What the hell happened? I would like Made in The Shade, if they want to do a full album. If not, the following songs will suffice

Sympathy for the Devil
Street Fighting Man
Paint it Black
Brown Sugar
It's Only Rock and Roll
Jumpin' Jack Flash
Wild Horses

Get on it, Harmonix!

The bar. Now THAT'S a crutch. Anyone can do a 9-Footer without holding the bar. Period.

New RB2 guitar is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better then the old one, its now my axe of choice.
There's no way it's as good as my heavily modded RB1 launch one. No way. It looks cool, though.

Can your RB1 guitar auto-calibrate? :D

Auto-calibrate + subtract wireless lag manually + my guitar = ALL OVER MY TITS. Haven't done it yet, though.

Any impressions of people who have been using the Xplorer/Les Paul primarily for these games and are now trying out the new RB2 strat? I'm trying to decide whether I should pick one up or stick to my clicky strum bars.

Also I'm highly considering upgrading my drums, but I think I'll wait for more impressions on those too.

EDIT: I'd also like to add that the controversy over hyperspeed is laughable. It's like saying people who play with a different guitar are cheating at the game too.

Just got done playing Ramblin' Man on expert drums. Holy crap, the whole song is almost as fast as the fast part in GGAHT. I had to cheat and pause the game during a fill 2/3rds of the way through. :lol

Got the steel bladder/endless setlist achievements. Good lord you get an asston of fans/money. 50,000 bucks and 25 million fans. The screen after that is funny. Now go to the bathroom!

My band, which consists of just me on guitar, currently has 58 million fans. Ranked about 40th, but I'm sure that won't last long.

I still need to do the endless setlist.

Holy the new guitar is amazing.

Calibration works perfectly (did it two times because I didn't believe the numbers it gave me at first, but they ended up being spot on)

Fret buttons are way quieter then my wired and wireless RB1 strat.

Strum bar doesn't have to travel nearly as far thus alt struming in time is much easier (I was able to 4x almost the entire last section of Let There Be Rock)

Star Power worked every single time I tilted the guitar on purpose.

My new favorite guitar! :rock

How heavy is it?

Does the new guitar still feel like it's going to fall apart if you put too much pressure on it? The Strat looks lovely in pictures but in your hand it felt like hollow, cheap shit.

It actually feels lighter. But I never had a problem with it feeling flimsy.

Even the feel? It felt more toy like than the old GH1 SG's!

My strum bar is sticky, the buttons are sticky, the edges are sharp and hut my wrist. The only thing I like is the thickness of the neck.

Wow, the new Strat sounds great. I definitely need to consider getting the new Strat since my Les Paul is a POS especially with it's moody star power and green button that may or may not work.

I found the original Strat to be great when used for Bass. Up-strumming felt great but what ultimately put it in my closet was the fact that the Star Power barely worked at all. The placement of the 'select' button when up-strumming made impossible to press as well.

Dave is right about the build quality of the Strat, it feels flimsy to the point where at times I thought I was going to snap it in half in my fits of rage because of the Star Power not working.

I would absolutely love the Strat....if it had the click for the strum, and less sticky buttons. I use my Frontman all the time because of that, but I really love the solo buttons on the Strat. Can't wait to get the Widow Maker to get the best of both worlds.

It makes them easier to play, therefore making the it cheap to use.

Two people of the exact same skill level play, 1 on regular 1 and hyperspeed, the 1 on hyperspeed is going to hit more notes.

Makes them easier to see is not the same as making them easier to play.

Hyperspeed is a preference thing, it does not alter the charts any..

I dont get the big deal, didn't this get discussed enough with the GH games, do we need to rehash the whole thing all over...

I've just seen that there are 250 DLC songs now (on the Market Place menu).

HMX, you better release a musical thunder if you want to reach 500 at the end of the year.

Where is the Madden pack ? Please consider FIFA, NHL, NBA packs.
Japanese Rock Band ? It would give the DLC library a big boost.

Has anyone had a problem with the video lag auto-calibration on the new strat. Mine runs through the whole process, and then, the game returns that it did not get any readings. I'm not blocking the IR sensor (or whatever it is using) on the front of the guitar. Dammit, I think I'm going to have RMA it. Everything else is awesome as Sp3eD has noted. Alt-strumming feels so much better than the first gen strat. Also of note, the neck is way more sturdy. You can't twist it like you can the older one. This guitar is a big improvement in my opinion.

The 500 songs includes the imported songs from the first game and all the songs on the second game. That would put the total closer to 400 songs already. Also, there are five more albums to come out and a No Doubt best of pack. I think they are going to reach the goal fairly easily.

no way. I only have about 178 DLC songs, and I'm no way in hell missing 70 songs. a lot of those have to be packs.

you are wrong, plain and simple. This isn't a subjective debate. The actions you have to actually perform on the controller remain identical. The relative distance between notes remains identical. the reason the game doesn't "normally" operate at that speed, and HMX has said this before, is that to most casual players the board and notes moving that fast is distracting. So by default they move the board and notes at a speed that is "pleasing" for the typical casual user, and offer hyperspeed for those who aren't bothered by the increased speed and want to separate the notes more. My guess is the only reason it wasn't in RB1 was due to it really being the first game where you'll have four different people playing.

you are not making the actions you need to perform easier.. you are just making what you need to see easier to see. according to your logic playing in HD is a cheat also as you can now see everything on the screen better.

I had 264 songs last week in RB1. Since then, Charlene has come out, then this Tuesday's 11 tracks. (7 Megadeth, 4 other)
Minus the 58 RB1 disc songs, that's 218 DLC tracks total.
55 RB1 songs + 84 RB2 disc songs + 218 DLC =357 songs available right now inside of RB2.

As of this week there are 219 DLC songs.

I'm not going to run up precise calculations, but if each album gets its own week, and the 20 free songs don't, and we include RB1 and RB2 songs, there'll have to be 7 songs released each non-album week in order to reach the 500 figure.

I hope they're going for quality and quantity, and not just quantity, but who knows.
