ok... enjoy.. will try some more later.

I'd buy most of that.

Dire Straits pack is something I desperately want.

when you think about how much great music hasn't been in any of these games, the overlap thing just seems even sillier

all good suggestions (except for Barenaked ladies.. sorry.. :( ).. you could probably release a "Best of 90s One Hit Wonders" Pack with like 6-7 great songs in it from bands that no teenager currently would know :P

lol... and include Everclear in there, though to be fair they're more like One Album Wonder.

ok, one more before I leave:

Sublime Pack (while we're on the 90s)
What I Got
Santeria
Date Rape

I'd like to sing that fast barenaked ladies song though, the 'like harrison ford i'm getting frantic, like sting i'm tantric' etc

Barenaked Ladies isn't really a "One Hit Wonder" band on the level of the other two, though. "Old Apartment, $1,000,000, etc...

Also, Harmonix, I know you're reading this: Please put Rick Springfield in this game. My wife asks me for it at least once a month, like I personally select which songs go into Rock Band. :lol

ok, TWO MORE

One Hit Grunge Pack
You (Candlebox)
Hunger Strike (Temple of the Dog)
River of Deceit (Mad Season)

and on that note

Alice In Chains Pack
Them Bones
We Die Young
No Excuses

Sounds good I also want 'would' though, I love that song

You know that's one of the points of Rock Band right?
exactly... the fact that my daughter sings Feel the Pain and Hungry Like the Wolf is awesome to me. I wish I had this kind of interactive music history lesson of sorts when I was growing up. You'd figure then it wouldn't have taken me 25 years to learn to appreciate the music that came before my time.

ChrisGoldstein said:

Would? is a great song, but I wanted a variety from them, and No Excuses has an EXCELLENT guitar track in it.

weezer, muse, rhcp, pixies, radiohead

Music is a funny thing.

For all the music I like that I've heard you complain about in this thread, I thought there wouldn't be any chance you like the same music as I do.

Then you list off Weezer, RHCP, and Radiohead as your favorite bands.

:lol

Do you think I'm stupid or something? I was just asking Costanza a question.

Sorry, it just came off like you were not gonna count the Pixies on account of him finding out about them through Rock Band. A lot of people are pretentious like that, especially toward Costanza.

you automatically win for having a Mad Season song on there, though I'd rather a "side projects pack" and include some Brad instead of Candlebox.

Nah, we like Costanza in here.. For me personally it just floors me that there is someone so completely opposite from my taste in music.. there is some crossover.. weezer, pixies.. etc... but for the most part, not much else. Which is absolutely awesome that we are all in the same thread about a single game. That's why I get pissed off when people bitch about song packs for this game. Even if I absolutely hate a song pack I will still think it's great that it was released, because chances are someone else is going batshit insane with happiness over it.

No it was just kind of like "One of these things is not like the other." I mean I've got a couple years on Costanza and I only got into them fairly recently, albeit before Rock Band. But if he legitimately thinks they're awesome and doesn't just like them because they're the cool oldschool indie band to like then power to him.

...But this is why I don't like Costanza.

I guess my main issue with the DLC is that I'd like a wider variety of music.

I got slammed for bringing it up before, but more 80's hair metal needs to be on here.

You have no idea how happy I was to see "Round and Round" by Ratt on the tracklist.

Holy crap. What?

Read a few pages back and didn't see this noted.

Any other lefties heard that the Ion cymbals (and presumably the MadCatz cymbal attachment for RB2 default drums) completely disable the cymbal differentiation when in lefty mode?
[snip]

I dunno! Is this even important at all in the big sense of things? I went from almost certainly purchasing the Ion (sans the overpriced brain) solely for RB2 to complete disinterest since it plainly won't work for me with the features it has been advertised with.

What's the chance this is an oversight and will be touched on in a patch? I can't see any hardware reason for this that can't be fixed in software.

Man, that sucks. I have the ION, and was coming into this thread to ask why my "cymbal differentiation" wasn't working. (Nice term for it, BTW.)

I went home last night and tried plugging a cymbal into the green input while in lefty mode. Hitting that cymbal resulted in a snare hit. Sigh. Then I noticed that my cymbals where just triggering the normal tom sounds during fills and such. WTF? Do I need to enable an option or something? I even read the ION and RB2 manuals! (It was awful!) And now the word is lefty mode is just... broken? Dammit.

I obviously need to trade my wife in for a right-handed one.

Does this "bug" also affect the regular RB2 kit? If so, it seems like Harmonix will just have to fix it. Unless they decide not to.

Still in all, I'd still say the ION kit is worth having, if you like that sort of thing. The hardware itself is really nice.

Dammit!

Same here. If it's "meh" for me, many others are probably going nuts about it. That's not a bad thing by any means.

I unlocked Where'd You Go yesterday. I love ska. It's a pretty easy song but damn is it fun to play on guitar. I love that janky guitar rhythm. I think I was bouncing the whole time I was playing it.

Pixies don't raise a red flag in my head, but when someone drops Velvet Underground, I start wondering.

It sucks when you're roommates have opposite taste. I really hate playing Megadeath, I just want to relax when I play the game:lol

That's the one song I really wanna unlock. I only have 5 songs left but I can't seem to get that one.

Well Pixies are the only band he listed that haven't put out an album in the past 2 or 3 years, for one thing.

birdman said:
So they leave out 2 things (Jukebox mode and song disabling) and now they are becoming Peter Molyneux? They need to start promising actual big time gameplay components before they get to that level.
Becoming. They aren't him yet. Baby steps.

Where's all my stats? You could argue they left out decent stats, even though they weren't hyping it as a feature. It's less detailed than GH2. Still no bass career leaderboard.

My character can't sit on a stool with his guitar and sing at the same time. This is important.

I don't want the trend to be A) announce potentially cool features, talk about them in the press enough to get us hyped for them, B) ship the game and don't tell anyone the features were excluded (leave that for us to discover when we can't find the options in-game), C) release a press release apologizing without a concrete reason why the feature was removed, D) leave us waiting for a patch, E) add feature to next sequel for profit.

I guess the release hype is over because this thread just turned into the cesspool it was for the months beforehand. :lol

I'll echo Summer of '69, but Bryan Adams has a couple of solid options.

Bryan Adams Pack
Summer of '69
Run to You
Cuts Like a Knife

Sam Roberts Pack
Them Kids
Don't Walk Away Eileen
Brother Down

The game needs more Canadian music - the Canadian playlist in Montreal having only three songs is SAD.

Cpt Underpants claimed that Lefty mode would keep the blue and yellow cymbals and move the green cymbal to red. I'll test it on my ION when I get home, but that won't be for a few hours.
Alas, this doesn't seem to be the case for me. In lefty mode, the blue cymbal is the hat, the yellow cymbal is the ride, and the green cymbal is... another snare.

This would be trivially easy to fix in software. What the heck was Harmonix thinking, shipping this in such a broken state? (I'm still interested in finding out if the non-ION RB2 kit is similarly afflicted. That would be even more unacceptable.)

True, but Costanza is so vocal about songs/bands he doesn't like that it would confuse me if he decided to name Pixies just so he could fit in.

Operation Mindcrime album release (really no other way)

:lol It's actually in my car CD player (I'm a old metal head). Was listening to it on my way to work this morning and thinking the EXACT same thing. Only a couple swears they'd have to blank out.

Well, at least now you can do the green designated hi-hat songs more realistically than your right-handed counterparts.

A mod might as well retitle this thread "The Official No Frills Prescription Strength ROCK BAND PLATFORM (+ Costanza's music taste discussion) Thread" since there seems to be an even proportion of posts.

As the biggest and baddest Alice in Chains fan anywhere, Would? should have definitely made it in to the game, if not already being prepped for DLC.

No Excuses and/or I Stay Away would be fun imo.

Though not a "classic" AiC track, having "Get Born Again" would work sooooo well for Rock Band. Vocals, drums, bass, and guitars are all seeming like they would be pretty fun to play.

more Alice in Chains would kick serious ass.

also, Operation Mindcrime is one of the full Album DLC I've requested, as is Green Day's 'Dookie', Thrice's 'The Illusion of Safety', and Between the Buried and Me's 'Colors'

phenomenal albums

I'm just curious but try it in the free style mode and see if it is the same.

I'm a lefty and as I was fixing up my RB1 drum set last night and I thought I was missing out by not having cymbals but I realized they probably only really apply in the freestyle mode.

I thought of this because in the freestyle mode

Green = Snare
Blue = Hi-Hat
Yellow = Tom
Red = Tom

but there is no cymbal.

I assume you can only get a cymbal if you have cymbals.

This however didn't affect actual game play so I'm not as distraught about it.

I'd be curious to know though.
