So...anyone else think the calibtration tool for RB 2 sucks hard compared to RB 1? I tried calibrating about 10 times in Rockband 2 and I average:

Video: 40 ms
Audio: 40 ms

On Rockband 1 I was:

Video: 90 ms
Audio: -25 ms

Those are pretty big differences. I manually plugged in the RB 1 numbers and RB 2 plays much better.

I wonder if Harmonix and EA made the calibration so shitty to try and force you to buy the guitar that automatically calibrates.

Finally found someplace selling the RB2 drums last night and gave them a good workout this morning. First impressions are very good. Good rebound and no double or dropped notes so far. Me likey.(gold starred 4 easy songs that I was never able to do before because of the old drum set) Now give me Moving Pictures please. Also more songs my wife would like to sing. Natalie Merchant, more Pretenders, Pat Benetar, more Heart, maybe some old Jefferson Airplane. Got to keep the ladies happy too Harmonix!

I already had metal reinforcement. It's snaped right at the bottom, where the hinge is, so I can't repair it.

My pedal broke in the same place. To fix it, I got a couple of thin, flat metal brackets that bend easily. I just bent them around the hinge and duct taped them to each side of the pedal to hold them in place. Then I just put a couple screws through them as well to make it nice and secure.

Works perfectly now.

It kicks ass, although mine was more-or-less broken out of the box. The strum bar gave way completely during "Everlong".

Everything from the auto calibration to the frets have been vastly improved. It's well worth the cash, just buy it from a place that accepts easy returns. :lol

Yeah, some of us were complaining on launch day. I plugged in my RB1 numbers as well, and all was good.

I don't think there's any conspiracy here, the calibration tool in RB2 just stinks.

Yeah, there are a ton of great songs for vocals. My current favorites are White Wedding, You Oughta Know, Go Your Own Way, and Shooting Star. Ooh and Lazy Eye because I love that fucking song.

Vocal choices are much better this time around.

The "woah woah woah's" at the end of Shooting Star are really fun to sing.

You can still sing it though, and I dont think it even penalizes you for doing it so it's just as good. Plus I'm playing on default settings so your voice is so much louder now it's awesome.

My request though it will never happen on Rock Band, and why I'm holding off on buying the new and beautiful drum kit with velocity sensitive pads which are so necessary:

also I like the old mic better I dont want any buttons on the thing I can deal with using a separate controller...it's more immersive with the sleek mic imo.

it is insane to expect ANY song to be LESS edited than the radio. the edit(s) on You Oughtta know are the same that it has had since it was first played on the radio.

The only real edit in the game that anyone has a right to be annoyed over is Man in the Box, and that's only because the radio stations played it UNedited for over a decade. According the the FCC you could actually say shit on the air if you were talking about actual poop. You simpy could not use it as slang for a derogatory remark. I don't know if things have changed with the FCC or not, but the past 3-4 years the song has finally been edited. Same thing with Pearl Jam - Jeremy (where they used to be able to say "Harmless little fuck" because fuck wasn't referring to actual sex.)

The good thing about the drum training is the freestyle mode, you can play songs off your hdd and try to play along...I was doing it with lateralus last night it was kind of fun and makes you realize (again) how talented danny carey is.

eh, maybe, it's a great album, but in game it's so-so. If you have people to play with that also like it it's great, and it's probably better now that theres an option to play albums straight through in RB2, but overall I'd recommend picking and choosing tracks for this one. up to you though.
