Every single version of a song Harmonix did for GH:2 was more complicated than their RB version. It's not a coincidence. Rock Band is a dumbed down game.

Honestly I find RB way more accessible than Guitar Hero. I can play Hard in RB no problem, and more importantly -- it's fun while still being challenging. Guitar Hero II/III on Hard is just frustrating for me. The jump in difficulty between Medium and Hard is too far.

I agree with you that Easy/Medium/Hard should have a steady difficulty curve, but Expert should be fair game. No reason why they should be dumbing down charts (which I haven't really noticed tbh, just going on what others have said here) from GH1/2 to RB

Downloading Moving pictures as we speak.

Time to send off the covers right by playing a 4 song setlist.

Tom Sawyer (Cover)
Tom Sawyer (Original)
Limelight (Cover)
Limelight (Original)

And then promptly go into my HDD memory and delete the covers forever.

It will be a good day :rock

some of you complain about the stupiest fucking shit, I swear to god. the YYZ chart is fine.

oh, and of course certain songs are going to be fucking boring on guitar, YOU CAN TELL BY LISTENING TO THE SONG.

The cover of Tom Sawyer is quite different. I'd keep it.

Superpac, I agree that hard in GH3 is poorly done, the curve is way off. GH2 though, it was my first game and I remember the difficulty being pretty fair once I got to hard. But I haven't played RB on hard, so I can't compare.

I love going back to those games and seeing how far I've progressed fake-musically.

If you think YYZ is as good as the GH2 version then I must be wrong. I take it back.

I didn't look back again at the GH2 version, because I'm never going to play that version again, I have no reason or desire to. What I did do was look at the RB chart, and from memory it looks 95% the same, and it still looks fun as hell.

It's still fun. It's just I played the GH2 version a few days ago and thought it was more fun. It's like when Lucas fucks with Star Wars. I just want what I know.

I want to enjoy all the awesome new DLC today, but this thread has officially freaked me out. I may hold off on playing any more RB2 until they fix this. Especially because my I play the game with my roommate, who uses his own separate gamertag on my 360 :(

Has anyone here had this problem happen to them? I would be devastated to have my save file go bad.

Jeez, this sounds exactly like the Castle Crashers situation. Must be something with XBL itself.

I really don't care which is "accurate". I care which is more fun.

I would argue that a more accurate song leads to more fun. Spot on accuracy can make you feel like you're really playing the song and thus lead to a higher fun factor. However, this is coming from a real guitar player so I suppose it's different.

well, reading over at the RB forums it appears there is one small minor glitch with YYZ. It appears the song will not show up for selection if there is a vocalist in your band. This includes quickplay. So basically with four players selected, there is no way to do a full album setlist of Moving Pictures. You'll either need to do the full album without a vocalist, or need to do the full album except for YYZ with a vocalist. Or do Tom Sawyer and Red Barcetta, exit out, dro pthe vocalist, do YYZ, and then bring the vocalist back in.

Hopefully HMX updates the game to get around this (auto-drop the vocalist?)

I'm pretty sure this was intentional.

eh.. I worded it incorrectly. I didn't mean a glitch per se, just not how I think most of us expected it would work. I was honestly expecting to be able to choose the whole album with four members and then just send the singer off for beers when YYZ came up. Just a bit disappointed that there is no easy way to select the whole album with four players in your band. :( ESPECIALLY because it's an album I would enjoy being the singer on.

The problem with me, is that I am not good enough to beat all the expert songs, but a lot of those charts are so dumbed down in the hard difficulty, I feel like in GH the hard charts, stll make sense following the music and they are fun to play and challenging, but a lot of the hard charts (I say a lot, because Visions kicked my ass with all the strums) are not too fun.
If you look at the latest dlc from neversoft, the metallica pack, or the virtuoso, even the dragonforce, they are fun hard charts for someone that is not good enough to beat expert, sure, I havent 5 starred the dragonforce songs, but I had fun playing them, and it didnt feel like glorified medium like a lot of the RB hard charts feel like

I agree.. GH3 hard the last tier was like holy shit!! but they have made a lot of improvements, in the latest dlc packs and the gh:aerosmith game, I play hard on GH and they have been great as of late, very fun.

edit: Unrelated, but I am very annoyed they made breakneck speed so fast and no speed settings...

MOVING PICTURES

BEST DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT EVER! And only 880 points!!!!
eh.. I'm going to lodge one more complaint in this thread about the way they handle YYZ and song selection. IT will/would be best ever if they fix it for quickplay so that four players can still select it and it just drops the vocalist. Otherwise IMHO the kind of screwed up on the release. Hopefully it gets fixed.

Hmmmm, oh well.

The Camera Eye. It's fucking 11 mins or so. This album download is a huge value.

i played them all in a setlist, yyz being last. generally i don't have a hard time with rush songs on drums.

I haven't played moving pictures, but the Rush I already have are do-able on Expert, but I don't think I'll ever 5 star anything other than Tom Sawyer.

i got owned at yyz drums :lol

i don't even know why i thought i could!
The beat is so tricky. I thought I almost had it, but then I just started spazzing out and missing everything. Awesome song though and I know I'll beat it someday. Of all the songs that came out today, YYZ is the only one I couldn't pass. Also, the changes to the Limelight chart are awesome.

Picked up YYZ along with the Stone Roses, Sleater-Kinney and Bad Religion songs. Gotta eat some lunch before playing them, though. Damn surviving is getting in the way of playing rock band.

Also, I like how I'm ranked 228th overall on drums after only playing on hard. I still hate that I never beat RB1 on expert drums because of don't fear the reaper. God I hate the end to that song.

What I don't get is why Harmonix didn't just fudge the problem by having vocals be tambourine (more like tamboring am i rite yes) for the whole song. Yeah, you'd be gimping the Gold Star/Perfect Vocals achievements, but still. Or better, have the vocals be "DUHHHH DAHDAH DAH DAH DUHDUH DAHHHH" like the crowd.

At least in RB2 that achievement is already gimped. The only people who can't get 100% vocals in a song like Testify are mutes.

Gah failed at 92% on The Camara's Eye. I shouldn't have been so cocky and thought I could take that last solo bit without any star power. I knew it was coming too.

Here goes another 6th of an hour.

I thought that changed for RB2?
My career score is roughly 12 million for drums, which is all my on-disc scores added together (I know this because I also use scorehero to track them.) If you filter by "local" on the leaderboards it will show your score including everything, which for me so far is 14+ million.
