We need Kiss Live Pack 02.
Yes we do. KISS always does amazing live performances and I always prefer their live songs over the studio versions the majority of the time. Let Me Go Rock 'n' Roll from KISS Symphony in Rock Band 3, please Harmonix. It would be amazing for all instruments.

Am super-bored at work, so I was looking on ScoreHero. DanT posted over there about the strum limit bitching, and said they're going to be starting an RB3 design blog pretty soon and that will be one of the things they address in there.

So he's just going to take his post from SA on the subject and make it available for the public?

I wonder how many people on the comments of that post will still claim they know more than the lead designer of the game. I'll guess an even dozen.

There was a dude who brought up the strum limit at the Q and A and when the designers told them there's wasn't one he still acted like there was and said "Then why do people with PAL tv's FC stuff easier?" and I really wanted to yell "Because they're fucking better than you" but I was so exhausted I didn't think of it in the split second it would have taken to be funny. My comedic timing was gone from lack of sleep.

Here's basically what Dan said when asked at the Q&A panel about the strum limit..

"There's a bunch of things that make it a little bit difficult to talk through. The short story is there is and there isn't. ... There's nothing out there that isn't 100% full comboable." Can't pass 60 fps, though. "If you're blaming the strumming, that's kind of an excuse."

Here's a reply from a SH kid:
Lamest Answer Ever.

It should be an easy fix, after all, GH doesnt have this problem.

Maybe it's just because the GH engine is sloppy?

Man, I haven't been on ScoreHero in ages.

And I'm kind of ok with that.

And man, I just sent my least professional professional email ever, and I've worked with a band named "Man Parts". (Though that is still perhaps the funniest contract I've written.)

If I was in your place, with the lack of sleep I would've said the same thing, but not for comedy's sake, just because I am very matter-of-fact with people I don't know or care about at points like that.

I knew about the "strum limit" being limited by the framerate, but that's never going to be an issue since a human hand is never going to be able to strum 60 nps, let alone half that.

RB is just a stricter engine than GH; that's all there is to it.

I would love if RB3 actually introduced true phonemes into the vocals and those top-scoring people couldn't hum anymore. That shit would be amazing!

Yea, I think there's nothing in the game (in any rhythm game, really) that's anywhere near a sustained 20nps. And when you approach 14nps you're hitting physical limitations.

I always bring up Magician on this topic; the outro is actually 16 nps (62.5 ms between notes) and that's faster than what Harmonix internally allows. They try to max it out at 75 ms. I cut it down to 12 nps and it's still crazy hard for how long the bit is, but it's actually doable.

I refuse to believe anybody using a Strat can strum that fast.

I'm not a believer in a strum limit. The timing just seems tight, possibly tighter than if you were hitting single notes.

Believe me I am too. And I totally would have said it but I thought of it literally a second too late so it wouldn't have been funny enough.

When you're hitting these numbers, it's to a point where "video game controller" is the real bottleneck. There's a point where even the signal can't get sent that fast, wired or wireless.

It's sometimes amazing how little respect people have for programming challenges and minute details like that. They figure it's instantaneous just because they can't perceive the delay.

Well, if GH2 has a 50Hz mode, then it would be quite the difference.
I've never put much time in to the PS2 versions, but I'm sure I remember ScoreHero distinguishing between PAL and NTSC on one occasion. Possibly on Rocks The 80s? I'm not sure.

I think it was Kotaku (or maybe joystiq) that had an article about the input delay in various games. It was a pretty interesting read.

It being an interesting read should have been all the hint needed to know it wasn't by Kotaku or Joystiq.

Seeing as this is by leaderboards you'd assume the average RBN song has sold more than 800-odd. Charron, are you still at double the leaderboard total (119) for Minnesota?

Did you watch Flash Forward Dave? I actually really liked tonight's episode. I don't totally hate this show.
Not yet, I'll check it tomorrow. Today I watched 15 minutes of V before wanting to die and turning it off.

BTW, total rematch time on Words, let's go.

Fuck V I shut it off as well.

And I already started a new game with you I'm waiting on you for the first word since I have nothing.

I'm playing against my friend Caitlin and I'll fucking use antidisestablishmentarianism and get 16 points and then she'll spell Xi and get 11 hundred. I'm getting fucking pissed at how bad she's beating me. Two games in a row shes over a hundred points ahead of me like right away.

I'm playing some total stranger and I keep spelling double words and destroying him but I have no where to brag about it or make fun of them so it isn't nearly as fun.

Not at double, though leaderboards remain a sizable underestimate.

I mean, it does skew the average that Push Push and the Conchords songs sold crazy well. Hopefully some of the upcoming material will pique interest (and the fact that it's not released as part of a 100+ song mass should help exposure).

I usually lose. That's why I'm so happy playing you again!

I struggle to be motivated against strangers, and the girls i've played against that I know always destroy me.

Well we were even until you pulled out quids in your old English and went way ahead.

She's currently beating me 304 to 156 with like 14 letters to go. It's ridiculous. Not to mention she just got done beating my ass last round.

Alright, started Always Sunny. What's up with the first season? The first episode was OK, but the second and third and fourth were just so-so. Was the first season just not that good, or is it just the first few episodes? Tell me it gets better.

I'd say it starts picking up steam when DeVito shows up.

Thanks Wired... guess Ronabo didn't see this before he posted again. :)

It's interesting because I seem to now have two RBN artists following me on Twitter, I wondered where that came from.

Yeah, I'm awesome.

Shaggy, you ARE awesome. Just saw the crabcore vid, that's SO COOL!

Kinda sucks the average score count is 825... Minnesota is nowhere near that :(

Well I've played it on all instruments. *eyes Ronabo*

All caught up now! :)

Always Sunny doesn't really get good until the second season. The first is still funny but not really. I think it was a mid season replacement as it's really short.
