Yes, Guitar Hero 2 was a lot of fun to play, but I'd be lying to you if I said I didn't have fun with Rock Band 1's soundtrack. I like playing the songs even if they're easy. I seem to be less forgiving if I'm playing a song I like and don't mind it at all. For instance, Maps is so fucking easy, but I don't mind playing it because I love the song. I can see where you are coming from, though.

I liked GH 3 and was also less forgiving because I enjoyed the soundtrack a lot. Yeah, some songs were impossible for me to play on Expert, but I could always drop to Hard and I'd still be having fun. To be honest, I don't think it's fair to compare GH 3 with Rock Band 1 because for GH 3, the primary focus was guitar (the same for GH 2), while for Rock Band, they had to think about drums/vocals/bass (lol)*.

I love playing bass.

I just hate it when Harmonix picks songs that aren't fun for ANY instrument like So Watcha Want. I mean, wtf were they thinking?

I can look back on RB1 now and say I like some songs from it. That video though, it was like the shittest, most repeated charts ever.

When RB was announced, I'm sure I said on GAF that I was just going to ignore GH3 and stick with RB. Then the GH3 demo came out and I actually liked it a lot, and the videos for RB1 were showing me boring charts I didn't give a shit about. In the end I played a lot of RB1 because of the DLC and my desire for non stop gold star parties.

GH 3 has a special place for me. It's the first guitar game that ended up making me play on expert and get good at it. I still play it quite a bit, mainly due to ease of getting customs on it. But RB 1 for me wasn't fun at all. I rented it and just ended up waiting awhile until they had enough dlc to make me want to buy the game since the disc songs were a bore for me.

By the time I got RB1 there was enough DLC to make me happy. And in retrospect, I enjoyed RB1 as much as I've enjoyed any music game, even with it's lack of hyperspeed, just because of the stars :/

I still think the gold stars are the best thing Harmonix has done to change things up since GH1. It just makes the game inherently more replayable and addictive.

I got GH3 for Christmas because I wanted the Fall Out Boy faceplate for the Les Paul. And since I got the game as a gift, I won't ever trade it in.
I wish I still had GH3, its worth owning even the easy songs were good, <3 talk dirty to me.

In a single player view, yes. In multiplayer, I do believe adding vocals and drums made it the best addition to the genre.

GH3 is DAMN cheap. I've seen it for <$10 a lot.

I actually had expectations for GH3. I'm sure Dave can estalk my post history and see that I was really excited for the game. Boy I was dumb and naive. :(

A trifecta of wrongness.
We'll see how I feel by the end but so far it just feels the same. It's like they didn't even attempt to evolve the gameplay in any relevant way and at this point it just feels stale.

The combat is like a trillion times better than GoW2 and the weapons are actually fun to use. GoW 1 and 2 I used the blades the whole time because the others weren't fun.

Weezer, lol.
I lived out a Weezer song this week. You can probably guess which one. This is GAF, after all.

A trillion? Really? It feels exactly the same to me. The new weapons haven't done much of anything for me so far, the claws are just re-skinned blades with a different magic attack and the others are throwaways.

That only works if the formula continues to be engaging. So far everything in the game is just dry and boring. I'm
a few checkpoints past killing Hermes
.

I guess it's what you make of it. You could just hit square a bunch or you could utilize all the weapons and new items like the bow and
Hermes boots
which gives you very diverse moveset. On normal it could work either way.

The bow just doesn't really interest me all that much. I'm not saying I don't use it, just that it's not an interesting weapon. As for
the Hermes boots, I just haven't had much time with them yet though I do appreciate the air dodge
. I'm not saying I think it's a bad game, just that the it feels dated to me.

So I just got done using my SSF4 TE stick for the first time and boy do I suck with it :lol

I think it is the way I am holding it as the ball on top of the stick turning around in circles bothers me a ton. My fingers slip off it while doing motions. Also the buttons are SUPER sensitive. I like being able to rest my fingers on the keys, can't do that here without throwing accidental moves out.

I will get used to it and get better I'm sure, but for a first impression it was really rough....

Surely that has to be the worst "song" ever recorded.

There are a ton of bands worse than Cannibal Corpse, and they're out there, right now...drinking tea and wearing scarfs.

I can smell them.

Mail Call...

should continue uninterrupted for a short while now...

Also, when Super Street Fighter IV hits, you are all going to go down! I will bring you to tears with my incredible skills, aided by my HORI stick that I've just learned to use.

Also, I suck at street fighter...truly...

Fighters are probably my favorite games, yet they're only ones that I suck at. Go figure.

Try holding the stick like a brandy glass

I'm used to arcade sticks that were huge so I would put the ball of the stick against my palm and make a fist around it with the actual stick part between my middle and ring fingers. I can't do that with the home stick they're too small. That fucks me up.
