Just read two thirds of the first volume of Scott Pilgrim... shit is amazing, why didn't you fuckers alert me to its awesome earlier?

smh RBcomicGAF.

I don't think I could ever get into Scott Pilgrim. The art style is completely horrific, and in a comic/graphic novel, that shit matters.
It's not THAT bad, but O'malley gets better as the series progresses. At least try reading the first volume, you may enjoy it despite itself.

It looks like a 5th grader trying to draw anime. Art is a big draw on comics/graphic novels, which is why the cover usually looks better than the inner works. I'm with October in that the movie looks like a polished turd (not knowing the source material). I'll probably check it out at some point via Netflix because I dig Edgar Wright, but I really don't care for Cera at all.

Take it from an overly cynical 34 year old manchild; it's incredibly charming, cute and funny. Give it a shot. We won't tell anyone, your goatee will keep its dignity intact.

EDIT: I'm 35 :( fuck.

EDIT: No, I'm 34. Yay!

While I absolutely agree with you when it comes to art in comics, and such, the draw itself is in the writing. Scott is an incrdibly likable character and with classic video game references and a good story, it's a good read.

Just go to a bookstore and read the first volume. The only thing you have to lose is 45mins.

We'll see how I feel by the end but so far it just feels the same. It's like they didn't even attempt to evolve the gameplay in any relevant way and at this point it just feels stale.
The last half of the game is a giant turd. The labyrinth is a god awful design and the boss fights are fucking terrible after the amazing Cronos fight. First half of the game is great though.

How can you hate Cera after Arrested Development.
Speaking of Arrested Development.. How long before it gets good? I've only watched the first ep off Netflix and it just didn't feel like my thing. For TV, I usually prefer a good drama over anything else.

It's always amazing. If you disagree, you're just wrong. It's the best show I've ever seen.

Yes, Guitar Hero 2 was a lot of fun to play, but I'd be lying to you if I said I didn't have fun with Rock Band 1's soundtrack. I like playing the songs even if they're easy. I seem to be less forgiving if I'm playing a song I like and don't mind it at all. For instance, Maps is so fucking easy, but I don't mind playing it because I love the song. I can see where you are coming from, though.

I liked GH 3 and was also less forgiving because I enjoyed the soundtrack a lot. Yeah, some songs were impossible for me to play on Expert, but I could always drop to Hard and I'd still be having fun. To be honest, I don't think it's fair to compare GH 3 with Rock Band 1 because for GH 3, the primary focus was guitar (the same for GH 2), while for Rock Band, they had to think about drums/vocals/bass (lol)*.

*
I love playing bass.

I just hate it when Harmonix picks songs that aren't fun for ANY instrument like So Watcha Want. I mean, wtf were they thinking?

Rock Band 1 had some great tracks but the only problem with that game is that the difficulty levels are totally out of whack. Normal is too easy and Hard is too hard. There's no in between at all and that kind of ruins the game a little.

As much as I hate Neversoft, I got to admit they implemented the jump in difficulty between Normal and Hard really well with Guitar Hero 3 and World Tour.

Everyone seems to have a different point at which it clicks. If you still don't like it after Pier Pressure though, yeah, I'd say it's not for you.

Reminds me of a joke.

A young man comes across an old man sitting on a park bench, crying. When he asks him why, the old man replies, "I have a beautiful, 27-year-old wife waiting for me at home." Of course the young man is confused. He asks, "Why are you crying because you have a beautiful, 27-year-old wife waiting for you at home?" The old man looks up and cries out, "I can't remember where I live".

Great, the part I've played through and found mediocre is the good part of the game. Fuck:lol

Redeem yourself. Trade it for the greatest action game of all time and GOTY 2010.

I'm only renting God of War III for what it's worth, and if you're referring to Bayonetta I've already been there, done that.

You thought Cronos was mediocre? That was mindbogglin'.
Nooo, I'm not there yet. He did say that up to that point the game was great and I haven't really felt the same so far. I'm still only a few save points past getting dash so I'm not really sure how far I am in relation to the halfway point, I just meant that what I've experienced so far I've found to be kind of stale.

I agree that "Pier Pressure" is generally the point where the show kicks in. It takes a few episodes before you really start to appreciate it. Some will say it's because it's so character-driven and relies heavily on callbacks, running gags, and foreshadowing, but I'd say it's also because the first episode, while it has it's moments, isn't really one of the better ones (and the extended pilot just makes it really sappy most of the time). Stick with it, however, and I think you'll be rewarded.

Arrested Development is a weird show. At first I didn't like it, in fact I hated it. But about 4 episodes in it clicked with me. It's got some of the funniest subtle dialog and one offs ever. Lots of self referential things too. Some of which you won't notice, they are that well hidden.

Anyways, stick with it. It's awesome I promise.

Edit: Well said Belgand.

Watch Weeds instead, although season 3 of that show is pretty shitty.
Season 3 is the worst season for that show. Fucking terrible.

Also, for Scott Pilgrim, Its really charming even though the Art style kinda sucks. Give it a shot.

S1 - Pretty good
S2 - CUM ALL OVER MY FACE YESSSSS
S3 - borrrring

I haven't watched S4 or 5 yet so don't spoil it assholes.

I hate s1, it just seemed like a really long pilot to me, all to get you prepared for the greatness of season 2. The only good thing about s1 is the deaf girl (or was the s2? I can't even remember, it's been so long)

btw, Duck is awesome confirmed.

Right now I'm just about at the end of Weeds season 5 (jumped the shark at the end of 3), just about to start Supernatural Season 4 (season 1 is pretty thin, but stick with it and it gets better), and down to the last two episodes of Life on Mars (the proper British original; series 2 isn't quite as good as series 1).

I'd also say that spending a good couple of months to watch Babylon 5 was one of the better decisions I made with my life. Season 5 is... not good and I didn't care for the ending, but it worked astoundingly well otherwise. I mean, I have my issues with some of it and how certain things were handled, but it was a great show. Ignore that season one is so incredibly slow-moving and filled with one-off episodes and you'll be rewarded with a deep, rich show and the proof that one of the only ways to make a compelling show with a multi-season arc is to just be a controlling bastard who plans it out in advance and then writes every single episode himself.

Incidentally it looks like I'll be going to PAX this year.

So, in three days, Home has nearly outsold Minnesota.

I haven't quite decided how I feel about this yet.

Best show on TV that nobody watches. Season 4 is incredible (you're in for a WHOLE lot of different+good stuff) and season 5 just improves on everything from 4. I'm so glad season 6 is confirmed.

It's not about your posts, you look late 20s in your pic that's all. And I've been wanting to ask, what are you working on right now? if it's not secret project or something that is.

Can't say I totally agree with you there. They've already said that the show was designed as having a five-season plot arc and that season 6 is going to be going off of that. I'm thinking that sounds like a bad idea and the chance for the show to really go downhill.

Oh, and the best show that nobody watches is/was Better Off Ted. I hate everyone who didn't watch that show with the flaming passion of a thousand suns. Even more if they were a Nielson family.

Holy Shit. It's Belgand.

Arrested Development is my favorite show ever. It also gets better the more times you watch it because there are so many hidden jokes that you just won't get the first time.
