Squeeze that stone, "Money", SQUEEZE.

I'm good until GTAVI rolls around. But it's been a while.. gotta see some reviews whether or not the talent is still there.

I mean it’s still massively popular, they ain’t gonna just let it simmer down.

Always surprised about the backlash R* get with GTA V and online. Then again, with the internet, I shouldn’t be surprised.

I let my Live access lapse since the only online game I play with friends is Fortnite and that is now free to play. Is GTA Online free to play or does it require Live?

500k is nothing in this game. Pocket change.

None of this helps with the fact that to get any business going you need to put millions into upgrading, for which the easiest option is to buy shark cards.

I'm a bitch, but I love RDO soooooooo much i'd pay a monthly fee just to support it. But I suspect this indicates it's dead.
Out of curiosity, what do you love so much about RDO?

I finished RDR2 recently, after 160 hours of single player, which I loved, I thought "okay, and now it's time for the online" thinking I had a new huge piece of content to do, that a big thing was awaiting me, since I spent hundreds of hours on GTA online.

But I ended up being really disappointed, it kind of seems like there's nothing to do really, every job needs at least 10 gold bars to even try it, I've been doing some bounty hunts but it's very repetitive, and the online feels super dead, I barely see any players, and the world itself is very dead and empty compared to the single player, saint denis doesn't feel the same at all for example, completely empty streets, no NPCs, no interactions.

I really wish I'd love it because I had great expectations given how I loved the single player, but it just feels very barebone to me, not sure how to explain it, I quickly had the feeling that it wouldn't keep me busy for long. I'm quite sad about it.

Also the fact that there isn't a chat contributes to make it feel dead, compared to GTA Online where players can chat and a lot of my interractions and various situations with other players happened thanks to the chat.

People will defend this. If I've learned anything from reading posts on Gaf for the last month, I've leaned that it's okay to charge for shit that's already in the game as long as you can point at another game that also does it.
For the last month? That’s humans in life. Always been that way.

I’m still on the side of, don’t want it, don’t buy it. But, these pubs know people will and it’s no loss to them, only gains.

I might be the minority here but I think this offer is worth it.

+ 500,000 GTA$
+ Free Property (This month is the Auto Shop)
+ Upgrade to the most expensive Yacht for free
+ Free clothing
+ Free liveries for various vehicles
+ Free Car fully pimped out with Hao's Special Works upgrades and released early to GTA+ members.
+ Various re-imbursements
+ Featured bonus payouts for certain missions.
+ Extra bump in bonus money you get for Shark Cards
+ Can cancel at anytime, so just sub if the monthly offer interests you, claim, cancel and then re-up the next month if you like the offers.

All of this for 5.99, for me this is a no brainer as there is far more value in what they are giving me vs what they are asking for in return. I can skip out on the Starbucks once a month for this...
it's not free if youre paying for it.

I'm not sure why people are not seeing the value in what is being offered here. I think this is a fantastic gesture to help new and maybe even some older players out.

Let's break down some of the costs since reading through this thread it seems folks are slamming the sub without offering any sensible arguments as to why the sub is not a good value or idea. To me it looks like Rockstar is offering a pro consumer option which doesn't interfere with current weekly offerings and is 100% not required to play the game and offers something to finally counter the decline in Prime Gaming offerings AND finally an option for Xbox gamers to get ahead finally since they never got the 1 mil a month deal Playstation owners were enjoying.

- 500k GTA$ each month. 500k shark cards cost 10 dollars on their own.
- 1 Free property a month. Presently the Autoshop is being included, the most expensive one, La Mesa which costs 1,920,000 GTA$ This translates into roughly $35 dollars in Shark Cards.
- Free upgrade to the Aquarius Yacht, looking at potentially upto 2 million GTA here depending on what model you go with. Roughly another $35 dollars worth of Shark Cards right there.
- 1 Free fully upgraded Car, this month it is the Principe Deveste Eight which costs 1,795,000 GTA$, average cost of HSW complete upgrades is about 500k-1m GTA$. Lowballing it, this total package might cost 2.3 million GTA$ on its own, this would value out at $40 worth of Shark Cards.

I'm not going to even bother adding up the rest because already we are sitting at $120 in Shark Card purchases. For 6 dollars, this is a pretty damn good deal with all things considered and especially for somebody just starting out or for those that might be interested in just the car alone and don't wanna grind a heist or two. Not sure how this is milking players. Sure you can grind out heists to get everything in game, sure playstation owners are coming off the teat of 1million a month and twitch/prime gaming subs may have remembered when we used to get cool stuff like this for free or at a huge discount but the point is that you can't argue against the value being presented compared to current options available short of grinding. Since there might be some that are just starting out or rolling new accounts, new characters for one reason or another, this is a great way to enjoy some savings and get a little time saving boost.

I've been checking it out on my xsex after the next gen release. And I'll tell you what, it's pretty fun and fleshed out with a shit ton of things to do. THe problem is the goddamn flying motorcycles armed with missiles. Way too much griefing and all going on, and you can't play solo or in a limited server if you want to do any of the business stuff. As such I'm not willing to get into a sub to play something that I'm likely to be griefed often ... that is NOT fun. At all.

For what it's worth, I believe they said that they are going to rebalance (nerf) a majority of the PVP vehicles and this will also include the flying motorcycles.

GTA online was always P2W by this logic. Shark cards? And who the fuck cares.

I've breezed through this game making silly money legit Over the years without paying a penny or duping cars buying modded money etc.

The real issue is where this could end up, who's to say in 10 years they have 10 million people paying $10 a month to get all the good shit.

Thats your opinion and I respect that when I say fuck the shark cards and their store prices. Its a made up bullshit economy. Youre not saving anything, but thats what they want you to believe. The fact is that most properties come with upgrade options that run in the millions for each step, so you would have to save up for months on that 500k petty income to do anything useful to a single business or property in the game.

Maybe this is where Sony got their ideas for GT7 from.

Give me 5 million a month for those 6 dollars and I would consider it.

Yes because all subscription services are the same and if you like one it means you automatically like them all.

Or maybe people gravitate toward the ones that actually offer some semblance of value and don't give 2 fucks about the others.

I would be with you if the game was free to play, but no it's not free to play but a priced game, and it's a priced game that was sold three times. And also above this unlike free to play games you have to be ps plus/ Xbox live gold membership, so sorry but no this is a total scam.

I'm not going to lie, I respect Take Two and Rockstar for draggin' their nuts. Customers willfully give them money for a 20 year old game and are happy about it. Real wild to me, but I respect the hustle. This is absolutely insane. GTA6 is going to be the icing on the cake. My God, lol

I mean they aren't making enough money from reselling a 10 year old game and getting tons of mtx, they need to do this crap? Just not going to look good on their part. Seems greedy and really pay to win is bullshit as we all know.
The game already kinda p2w before this.

Trying to play on a fresh account and make decent money without getting face fucked by flying bikes is pretty much unplayable.

If they had a feature on this sub where no one in the lobby can use the flying bike would be nice.

Would have been nice if they actually expanded the game with actual new content or a new island for online with this.

This sub just seems like it was made for new folks on the new gen who are getting railed by the flying bikes.

Please do not subscribe as this will change gaming forever if it proves popular.

Imagine having to subscribe to all the individual games we all love.
People already spend money like this on "Plunder Pass", "Battle Pass", or whatever else these companies want to call monthly/season fees to earn digital crap next.

Hey.. It is what it is.

I payed 10 bucks. I'm having a lot of fun. I don't have to invest time, money and headaches into a PC.

If that makes me a clown so be it.

It's too bad you need PS5 before the 75% deal runs out though.

Online players for this game has really ruined the franchise for Me. The online is so successful that they will never make a traditional GTA again.

i still remember way back when gta online first launched there was some cash exploit and i amassed something like 130 million only to have it all taken away, i haven't touched it since then, it was more fun stealing the money than playing the actual game apparently

I mean they do have service & operations costs to keep the game running so there is a need for the constant revenue. Most companies would must prefer to have more stable, subscription-based revenues than rely solely on one-off purchases. I don't blame them for doing this. The question is going to be do you get the value out of it. Other games like STO, ESO, Star Wars TOR do this sort of hybrid free w/ store and/or sub option. This is not that unusual in the industry at all. STill though if they want people paying subs they're going to have to do more to allow people to enjoy the pve content without the constant griefing.

GTA Online is free on PS5 right now.

The subscription offer is just incredible bad. I have been playing GTA Online and had to start a new character cuz last time i played the game was back in PS3 and cant tranfer that charater, and im swimming in money in the game.

Ppl playing the game should just focus in buying the submarine to start the Cayo Perico Heist, and they will have money to anything in the game, by just doing this heist multiple times, and can be done solo. The full heist, preparation missions + final heist, takes around 1 hour to complete once you are familiar with what u have to do, and you get between 1.2 and 1.5 millions from the heist every time.

Then investing the money from the heists in the nightclub plus the illegal business linked to it, and the nightclub will be printing passive money while you doing other stuff in the game.

Thers just too many good sorces of income right now in the game that paying for a subcription for properties or cloths or money it offers, is ridiculous bad.

are you being serious? the game made Rockstar billions in the first few days post launch. it's been 8 and a half years since it came out. rockstar have more than enough money to keep it running lmfao. they ripped people off with GTA trilogy remaster recently and have released GTA V for the 3rd generation!

if they are struggling for money how about they hurry up and release GTA VI.

Rockstar are greedy and seeing how far they can push people. It's that simple. don't worry though, i'm sure poor Rockstar will release GTA VI/GTA Online 2.0 and will charge monthly fees for GTA+ from day 1 if this proves succesful (it will because people are idiots)

I really wish I'd love it because I had great expectations given how I loved the single player, but it just feels very barebone to me, not sure how to explain it, I quickly had the feeling that it wouldn't keep me busy for long. I'm quite sad about it.

Oooooooooh boy, this is quite the can of worms your opening up.

First let me get this out of the way: A better way to phrase it is, I love the FOUNDATION Rockstar built this game on. But your right, they've failed to leverage it.

At it's core, it's GTA Online cowboy addition, but VASTLY improved. Controls are better, partying up with friends and joining missions together is WAYYYYYYYY better, since they dropped that dumbass invite system that fails half the time.

Here is an open world game, without a dumbass gear system, that you can explore with your friends, do missions for various strangers, which if you explore the different strangers, there IS a decent variety of missions. With each role providing a decent amount of content to do, that rewards you for sticking with it. If you don't know, these roles can expand your skills and make stuff slightly better, like faster cooking and stuff like that. Friends can significantly aid you in your businesses independently.

Also, in GTA your businesses mostly only pay you, your friends get pennies. Here, your friends get half the cash you do, a much better reward. Generally speaking, the game encourages co-op much more than GTA does. Bounties pay everyone in the party equally. The bounties, are insanely fun to me, you and your buddies gotta really coordinate to get your man/men alive for full payout. Oh shit moments WILL ensue. They can be frustrating at first, but you learn and get better each time you attempt one. There are also LEGENDARY bounties, which are like scripted story style missions that increase in difficulty each time you replay them up to 5 star difficulty, once you replay these on 4 star difficulty, they're basically Red Dead's answer to Destiny Raids, where every shot counts, and you gotta really pay attention. But it isn't unfair (Although the first time you do these they will feel unfair :p)

The main story missions are the closest I've ever come to experiencing single player style cinematic missions in an online environment, woven in a tale of revenge. This alone imo elevates this game to legendary status.

Every 5 levels you get a treasure map, which will be in different parts of the map, this forces you to explore the nook and crannies of this beautiful world and is usually a guaranteed gold bar + $100

Adding onto that, the "collector role" imo, leverages this open world in a way I've seen few games do, ALL OVER the map is HUNDREDS of pieces of hidden treasure, that ROTATE DAILY, your controller vibrates when near a treasure, this is where the money is. Collect tons of treasure, then sell it to creepy ass VOO DOO lady. There will be bird eggs you have to shoot out of trees, jewlery to dig out of the dirt, tarot cards in weird places, TOOOOOOONS of different treasure. and you get bonus cash if you collect a whole set (Eg: All bird egg variants, all Necklace variants etc...) This role will take you places you've never been, and both you and your friends can pick up the treasure. No fighting over it.

Unlike GTA, these roles can all be engaged with at once. Maybe your hunting for materials for cripps, and while your hunting deer, maybe your buddy will stumble upon that last Tarot card you need to complete your set. Just an example.

^While doing all of that, there are random dynamic events that pop up, a woman in a runaway wagon, a cowgirl trapped by crocodiles, or...sometimes it's something a bit more...sinister.... These serve as a nice distraction, they don't pay much, but they're cool when they happen. Sometimes you'll find treasure while doing these.

I've barely scratched the surface but my hands hurt from typing all that up, but I think I've made my point. I'll reply again tomorrow with a part 2 of the post, which will go into an angry rant of how R* fucked all of this up

It's hilarious you think the general population is going to not care about GTO+ especially when 6 releases. Seriously, like masses give a flying fuck about Tunic.

It seems like they've forecasted the people who fell in love with their online offering are paying more than the people who fell in love with their singleplayer offering at this point lol. Cause they are squeezing all the water out the cloth and shit it's just printing money.
