Gulbis should be a good test for Roger, provided he raises his level, and doesn't waste as many break points as today. It should be a good match.

I watched that footage

Was that at a pivotal moment? Did it cause Daniela to eventually lose?

Or would she have lost anyway...?

She doesn't have the power to compete in clay. If she's gonna win a slam, it would be Wimbledon.
However, every other element she does have seems to be well suited for clay. But yeah, it's her least favorite surface and i guess she likes to use the opponent's pace. Though i'm not sure how much more powerful Halep is for instance.

What happened? Can't make the audio. I reckon it's more than the umpire awarding the point to Kerber instead of re-playing the point?

John Dunbar

correct about everything
monfils and fognini begin with three consecutive breaks of serve. this has potential.

edit: fognini warned for bad language, clowns away an easy shot. good, good.

Whaaaat. I can't hear anyone other than Hantuchová and I desperately want to know what they're saying because I just don't understand what their defense could be. She's saying the same (absolutely correct and logical) thing over and over again to deaf ears. What the hell is that weak-sauce director doing? Why did she even bother coming out if all her response was is "Don't talk to me about it. I'm not the chair umpire." NO, YOU'RE NOT. You've come out here because you're above the chair umpire and can figure this shit out. Then she just walks away while Hantuchová is still fuming and arguing her case. How about you stay out there until the problem is resolved?

So frustrating when power rules over logic. The evidence is all there, 100% to correct the call.

Monfils: 23 winners/56 unforced errors
Fognini: 43 winners/81 unforced errors

LOL

Those are some of the worst stats I've ever seen. 130+ UE in match full of pushing.

What is everybody buh-ing him out?

He apparently made some kind of anti-fair-play gesture during one of the breaks. He also nearly hit one of the line refs and a ball boy with his racket when he threw it early in the fifth. They didn't like it.

But the point remains, even I (I'm French) find the RG crowd insufferable.
