Romancing Saga - Gamespot review

Final Fantasy Legend I-III (SaGa I-III) were pretty well-regarded critically.

I and II were freakin' awesome. III was a piece of shit in my opinion (it wasn't even done by the SaGa team, but by the people who made FF:MQ), but it has its followers.

Romancing SaGa 3 is the only worth SaGa game out there.

SaGa 2 has something to say to you.

Well in my book they're all a good time. (Questionably so with SaGa 3 though.) But I'm not much to go by, haha.

I'm talking about whether or not to drop $40 tomorrow or wait for the inevitable dumpster diving of this game.
You see, unlike most of you, I really want this game.

Correction, you and me. But fuck if I don't have two pennies to rub together, let alone 40$....

Well, to be fair, I did say most. :p

Too bad I can't find someone to hock my PSP games to.

Ain't no such thing as Fry's!
But I hocked Ridger Racers for a copy, so I only paid $30 in cash.
Shame I have to work tonight though!

GS guy was all "Did you reserve it, cause I might not have any copies left."
Fuck, no one reserved this shit and you should know it from that shiny computer you have, assbag.
Oh well.

I'm one of those ill-regarded lovers of part III. I had recently gotten into RPGs with Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior rentals. I saw Final Fantasy, and I had a Game Boy, so I went for it.

That said, it is far, far better than Mystic Quest and is a pretty decent, if very linear RPG. The customization systems were fairly deep as far as changing races, but only cyborgs and beasts were any good aside from your base characters. I enjoyed the SaGa technique of mixing sci-fi and fantasy aspects together haphazardly, and some of the fights were fairly strategic (for a newcomer to RPGs).

I probably played it through about 5 or 6 times, and the last time was about three years ago. It still held up rather well opposed to other handheld RPGs.

Legend I was somewhat bland and very unbalanced, and II was pretty impressive, but just too hard for me at the time.

I also finished all 7 quests of SaGa Frontier, but I have yet to finish a SaGa game since.

what they need to do is make another game like SaGa Frontier 2, best of all the SaGa games!!

Indeed.

This one is fun though, although you have to have extreme patience when looking for new quests
