I just really hate that
line. Easily the most cheesy line in the film, in my opinion. I think the opening music for that scene really seals the deal for me. Not a good combination.
I like the score, but that opener was crap.

I would just like to say that I am a big fan of James Cameron. For some reason though, I was not really interested in seeing the movie at all. I never even bothered to read anything about it or even check out a trailer.
Oh man was this movie horribly predictable. I found myself just bored of watching all the pretty visuals many times and the movie just drags on forever. Definitely did not expect the thing to be this dull.

Well after watching this movie 3 times, two in 3d, I have come to the conclusion that I didnt find the movie to be a "classic". Not trolling here, but it didnt hold up on repeat viewings for me, still damn entertaining though! Would love to see further exploration of the universe.

Disappointed it was over, I wanted to keep watching all day. The natives were so interesting. LOVED the movie. Great stuff, saw it in 3D. Incredible. I'd love to see it again (but costs too much), or see more in a director's cut (too bad I won't be able to watch it in 3D in a movie theater though

Should have had a longer intro, a longer first landing with Jake, Grace, and Norm, more fleshed out scenes with Corporate and Quaritch, and more time spent with Jake learning the ways from the Na'Vi and Neytiri
I would have cut out Grace dieing and instead just had her getting injured incapable of leaving the avatar facility. With her maybe dieing when Quaritch breaking it open in the final battle... the scene where they try to revive her at the spiritual tree dragged on

where Grace is explaining the tree of souls and says 'I would die to get in there and take some samples.

I came into this thread to read about spoilers and just overall movie impressions. What I got was 26(the first 26 at least) pages of bickering about scores. wtf is wrong with GAF. Seriously.
I had to skip to the last page to to get any real comments of value. Didn't even try in between 26ish and this page.
Anyway, I loved the movie. It was the kind of movie where i wasn't bored at all the entire way. I LOOOOVED

But I feel like those are the best kind of movies, where on the inside you have an emotional connection with something that doesn't even exist, but the the directors/actors/whatever have created a world where you feel like everything is hanging on that moment.

I think having the same ending and having Jake go from his old body to his new, would still have been fine. You don't need the set up... and it would have been more surprising/interesting to learn when its all over that Jake could make a complete transformation, when his eyes open, you would have been a bit more satisfied and impressed.

I liked the pacing of those sequences; the movie needed a down beat before ramping back up for the big battle. Skipping it would have been a mistake, switching the movie to just wall to wall action without any dramatic pauses. It completedKarma Kramer said:

It's one of my favorite sequences in the movie
Saw it the second time and it was still amazing, though for some reason this time around I cringed at the whole mass gyrating/spasms of the first revival scene. It went on for way too long. Yeah that scene is vital because it is a setup for the second scene, but I think it could have been shortened just a bit, too many shots of different angles of all the Na'vi were really unnecessary. What I did notice a lot more of this time was how if you looked close enough during the night, you can actually see the "network" running through the terrain.

Plus its overall a beautiful scene imo, and I think it makes the ending stronger. If the whole thing just came out of nowhere at the end, it would be a bit...well out of nowhere. Plus, it gives the audience the chance to recover a bit from moving between major action setpieces...
imo, taking that scene out would be like taking out the scene where Neytiri talks about the Toruk Makto, except even worse.

Hopefully all the footage spent on the character development can be put in. I don't think there's any need for more action scenes
although he clearly did film an attack on Hells Gate in the B-roll footage, though, after looking at the final shot in the film where the humans board the Valkyrie, there didn't appear to be much damage to any of the structures or surrounding area. He probably took that out then thinking that another fight just didn't fit in the story.
EDIT: And the Leona Lewis song wouldn't be so bad if she didn't spend most of it screeching the whole damn time. Ugh my ears!

Just saw it a second time and I enjoyed it as much as the first. I definitely think this is on line to becoming one of Cameron's best films - I'll have to wait and think it over before making that call personally, but if there is a sequel then it should be something amazing.
I want to see it again, and I haven't even seen it in IMAX yet (I hope I'll be able to).

I sure hope so, but that's why I gave an estimate of a year for the home release (which is what happened with LOTR), if they do decide to go that route and add new scenes, which may have to be re-rendered by Weta or another company. The Grace revival scene set up Jake's transfer at the end. Without the scientific explanation, Jake's change at the end just becomes magic.
