That is pretty much the main theme imo.Solo said:Thats really my only problem with the score - there is the I See You motif running throughout the movie which is great, but there isnt a rousing, memorable main theme.

The thing is though, he spent so much time working on the score for this film, and while it's good, it's not what one would hopefully expect in terms of the time that had been put into it, especially when it comes to finding some inspiration.Solo said:I dont think Horner needs be, nor will be, replaced. All he needs to do is find some fucking inspiration.

Though Avatar is really missing that big huge theme that blockbusters typically have.
Even TF2 had one -_-.

Learned their listen indeed!:lolGhaleonEB said:For Titanic, he got a director's fee, a screewriter's fee, and a producers fee in addition to an undisclosed percentage of the gross. I watched the Charlie Rose interview with Cameron last week and he said his final take home was "north" of $100m from Titanic.
I haven't read anything about his earnings this time around, but since it's the same studio, I'm guessing the fee structure was similar.
On that note, Fox learned from last time around. they split international distribution rights with Paramount because they were nervous about making their money back. They did the distribution themselves this time around.

Lebron said:Ah, so James Horner did the soundtrack. Well that explains why I kept thinking they just copied some of the tracks from Troy and threw it in :lol
And I'm going to see this movie again later today with a couple people who want to see it. I think this is like four days in a row now. Is this real life?
Solo said:What are you referring to in particular? BB and TDK are great, but its the James Newton Howard cues that hit the right notes for me moreso than the Zimmer cues (HOWEVER, Zimmer's "Molossus" might be my favorite action cue of the decade, so there you go). And the Pirates sequels have great scores, but Klaus Badelt really built the entire foundation in Pirates 1 and Zimmer just built on that.

jett said:Man, too much Zimmer hate in this bitch. I personally think Clint Mansell would have been perfect for Avatar. He seems to be perfect for sci-fi lately, although Avatar is much less serious than The Fountain or Moon, the score would have no doubt been a fucking classic.
Most of Zimmer's new cues for the POTC sequels are better than what Badelt did.I find the POTC1 OST to be kinda crap to listen to.

Dabookerman said:Anyway. I'm gonna bet an inch of my hair that this won't pass $300 mill in the US. That's right. Mutilation.

Dead said:lol, it will pass 300 this weekend
Dabookerman said:Badelt's score is just the theme on repeat haha. It's still good though. Also Mansell.. just doesn't suit the tone of the movie.. But then to try something new perhaps.. I dunno.

Guardian Bob said:Yeah. The score really has memorable moments, but they don't pump up enough. For me, THIS is one of the most memorable, but it only lasts about 20 seconds!!!!
Well, I was including Monday in my amendment. But even if you don't, then it's right on track, if the weekend is flat to last. The international figure is through Monday (I think), not Tuesday.jett said:In the extraordinary case of Avatar grossing 340 mill by the end of the weekend, and with the worldwide/domestic percentage maintaining as it is, it will miss 1 billion by a few dozen millions.![]()
And it isn't even in the movie. hehSolo said:I know exactly what you mean. This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mw6Se1Wo4S4&feature=related#t=6m57s) is my favorite piece of score of 2009, but it only lasts 30 seconds :lol

Maybe theyll use it on an extended scene on the blu-raySolo said:DONT GET ME STARTED AGAIN! RAAAGGEE! I still cant believe that the ENTIRE song before, and after that 30 seconds is played in the movie.

"because fuck you."
Being that there are 12 ISV's in routine flights between the 2 planets, the next one would typically be thought to arrive just after the Venture Star is scheduled to depart (about a year since the start of the film). But yeah, there definitely is good communication between the two planets as evidenced when Quaritch told Jake he had gotten his corporate approval to get his legs back (came off sounding like he just got it done), not to mention the removed scene from the film where Selfridge threatens Quaritch with a "phone call".Napoleonthechimp said:Actually you wouldn't need much of a time skip for a sequel (but you'll probably get it anyway) because there are a number of different ships shuttling back and forth between pandora and earth as well as FTL communication. Of course I'm grabbing all of this from unofficial sources so the validity of it can be questioned.
Dead said:Man, I really want to see this in 2D now. Been looking at some stills from the movie online and the colors are "wow" in a way that was really missing from the 3D experience.
I'm hoping JC doesn't degrade the colors for the 2D blu-ray
Dead said:The last time I was watching it I was actually constantly lifting my glasses to see the difference in color brightness throughout the movie :lol
jett said:I think it's too late for me to watch it in 2D. By this point in time the prints must be scratched and dirty.![]()
