And what are they saying about the story if they're not saying that its weak/meh/average or below average?

They're saying that it lacks originality but makes up for it with its execution.

It's a James Cameron movie, in other words.

It's so funny how I've been telling people this for a long ass time... people always saying "man the trailers make it look so generic... looks silly... etc"... and yeah from an outlined perspective most Cameron movies sound pretty silly/cliche. But its his execution that makes them special.

Jesusfuck you really are an annoying, insufferable cockmuncher. Here you go, now shut the fuck up already.

Here are my personal predictions, just for you.

Now stop with the stalking.

edit: the guy even pm'd his post. :lol god.
Yeah, I called you and your buddy out and you were running and hiding in your closets so I PM'ed you just to make sure you realize how big of a rumor monger you really are.

Now lets look at the evidence you presented here:

Inspite of the great Busty pulling the numbers out of his ass, he puts it out with clear wording that they are not at all reliable <- common tactic when people pull this stunt. And what does jett do? Gobble gobble gobble.

Just putting this out there jett. So that you do not go around mouthing off and not backing up your smack talk. For once, you were clearly called out here and all you got as backup was one random guy's word (which has 0% credibility), you just got ______. Bitch!

LOL

I got to say irfan, your persistence is impressive here. Not sure what good will come out of it.. but it is pretty hilarious. Your next target should be PD

I'll take all of them down, one at a time or all at once. Smack talk needs to be backed up or else will be accounted for. :D

So how much money did Avatar make opening weekend? Calling people out for their predictions when the movie isn't even fucking released yet is borderline insane.

This is the internet dude, chill out.

Daniel it sucks when, after seeing a great movie you almost die in a car accident, yeah? :lol On my way back from Return of the King it came a shit-snowstorm outside and there were a few close calls. It nearly dampered my high off the film.

But Titanic is exactly the kind of movie the academy would award best picture.
You should have read all the pre-release buzz for that supposedly inevitable stinker.

Oh and those young girls that made Titanic the huge success it was were not very on board before its release either. It was all about word of mouth.

I'm not calling people out for their predictions.

1. Busty started this rumor.
2. jett started parroting it around.
3. Others picked the rumor from him.

This is entirely different.

Hey there's nothing wrong with calling people out on their bullshit.

Agreed... people are overreacting... plus I would rather have a calling out thread for now... so I don't keep reading how amazing this movie is... and keep remembering its still a week away, and I got a shit load of shit to handle before then

Your efforts are noble Irfan, but you dont want this to turn into a Dax01 situation like we had in the Star Trek thread.

Now, about the movie...

DROOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLL! I cannot wait. One more week damnit!

Karma Kramer,PhoncipleBone & PSGames., thanks guys. I called them out, my work is done. Back to rottenwatch discussion please. :)

I just watched the whole trailer for the first time. I can't believe this hasn't been on my radar. It looks absolutely epic. Day one and in 3D!

You're certifiable, friend. I responded to your crap in the past, and the only one making a big deal about posts that were made weeks ago is you. You, you crazy fuck.

Anyone else follow Simon Pegg on Twitter? He saw the premiere tonight and called it a "game changer" whatever that means. I respect the dude, and am excited to see Avatar.

Probably the start of an avalanche of similar articles the initial reviews are generating:

‘Avatar’ an epic success

Early results are in - and it looks like James Cameron’s got another winner.

Twelve years after “Titanic” became the largest grossing movie in history, the director unveiled his 3-D science fiction extravaganza, “Avatar.”

At its world premiere last night at London’s Leicester Square Empire Theater, Cameron faced the rumors that said his 161-minute epic was risky, just for kids or disappointing: “There’s been a lot of buzz around this movie. I say we get that settled right now.”

As “Avatar” ran, the crowd laughed at the jokes, applauded briefly for an action sequence and gave a thunderous, prolonged ovation at the end.

“Avatar” is reportedly the most expensive movie ever made - estimates range from $230 million to $455 million.

It was shot in digital 3-D with high-tech cameras that writer-director-producer Cameron himself designed and tells a story of the Navi, a hardy, blue indigenous people on the planet Pandora, where a military operation wants their valuable ore and is willing to destroy them.

Avatars are genetically engineered creatures who resemble the Navi but are created mixing human and Navi DNA.

What did the audience think? Here’s a sampling:

“Amazing. It symbolizes how destructive human beings can be and what’s going on in the world.” - Kate Holt, 25, London.

“Brilliant! A lot of everything, action, a love interest and ideas.” - Antonio Michael, 26, London.

“I loved the movie, a really great story.” - Peter Kristenjianson, 33, Iceland.

“Great! Cameron outdid himself this time. He’s restarted his career. And I hope Sigourney Weaver is back for more.” - Michael Spieler, 28, Berlin, Germany.

“You’ve seen the footage before, but it doesn’t prepare you for what he’s done.” - Ingo Rauschenberg, 29, Berlin.

Added British actor Nicholas Hoult (“A Single Man”), 20, who was there to congratulate his buddy Sam Worthington, “The whole world Jim Cameron created was amazing. I’m going to see it again.”

“Avatar” opens Thursday in the United States in both 2-D and 3-D versions.

Agreed. irfan, have you not heard of the statute of limitations?

Well looks like so far Avatar is holding up on the critical side of things. I think it could win a ton of awards to, especially during this week year. I just don't think it's going to be quite the box office success some think it is.. probably wrong though.

So here's the question. If Cameron sweeps the awards here, does he take position as the best director of all time?

I am a huge Cameron fan, but that is pushing it. Best action director of all time? Possibly.

Not saying I agree with it, but I definitely don't doubt this is how he could be perceived.

You can't really blame people, though. The thing is... you hate almost everything. So it'd be awfully confusing for us if you actually began to support something or, more likely, if there was the absence of hate.

Such a position exists? Who currently holds it? If we're talking about some kind of ambiguous consensus here, then no. Far more people would favour someone like Kubrick or Spielberg, if there was to be any majority.

Anyway, Cameron is a fantastic director and creator. Hopefully he gets to work on another project immediately. He's got plenty of years left in him and maybe once he's 70 and dishing out quiet dramas about the countryside and love, we could look back at him and ask that question more seriously.

No. Maybe the most technologically innovative director of all time, but best? Definitely not. He's my personal favourite, but Spielberg still reigns as the supreme master of cinema since its inception.

Well that's what I'm hoping. Speilberg is my personal favorite, right up there with Fincher. He can cover such a wide array of genres, and to me nothing holds up quite like Jaws or Jurrasic Park.

Damn I am SO SO glad this movie wasn't a critical flop! Like, should out loud happy! I needed a film like this to come and slap me in the face. The last real fantasy epic for me was LOTR. And whilst there have been some stellar fictional works in-between (Dark Knight and Star Trek), nothing of this calibre with respect to scale and immensity.

17th Dec at the IMAX London Greenwich cannot come soon enough! Cameron you legend, you apparently (so far) have done it again! One of the few with a spotless record.
