I will be seeing it on the 17th, at 4pm my time (GMT+8). But you might or might not get a review from me on the 17th, since I'm also picking up FFXIII after dinner, and once I get back I'll be playing the shit out of that. :lol
 
Dont know what Kramer is so worried about. The whole thing has pretty much already been spoiled in these AVATAR threads. And on top of that, the trailers seem to basically tell the whole story, which is one we've all seen before.

I've only seen as much as the teaser and theatrical trailer. Nothing more.

I said I've watched Xmas carol with 3D English subtitle for Deaf/HOH.
I'm from UK and Disney provide 3D laser projection to allow subtitle overlay the screen meaning you can use it all the 3D movies if you have subtitle transcript .
They said first time even in the world.

UK has very high disabled discrimination act law, so I think I won't be worry or I will sue FOX.

That very reason might be why he could end up giving the film a GOOD review. The best trolls are the ones who evolve with how they are perceived! :D
 
I don't know if the movie is going to be any good, but seeing the trailer on the big screen was impressive. Arguably the best special effects I have ever seen in a movie. I laughed when people were saying parts looked real during the tv commercials because the CG effects were not even that impressive (at least not on tv), but after seeing it on the big screen I will admit I was wrong because I thought the first few seconds were from some live action thing.

Doesn't mean it will be a good movie, but the trailer was pretty damned good. If the reviews stay positive I will probably check it out in the next week or two.
 
I'm alone in wanting to see this. My girlfriend and my friends all think it looks supremely lame, all the while forgetting that fucking JAMES FUCKING CAMERON.

Next week can't come soon enough. I'll be seeing it in the lowly peasants' theater instead of the glorious iMAX experience, unfortunately.
 
I'd like to see it in 3D but have never watched in anything in 3D before. Can anyone describe what its like? Should I risk it in 3D?

I thought it was incredible, and I would massively suggest seeing it in 3D. I don't have huge hopes for the film as a story, I think more than anything it'll be a visual feast, so for me 3D is really appropriate in this case.
 
Bought my tickets last night for the 9pm showing on Friday. RealD IMAX. My tickets were 13.50 a piece (after 1.50 service charge).

Now, I just have to get there early enough so I'm not stuck in the front of the theatre.
 
Ok I'm booking to see it in 3D. Has anyone done an online booking on Odeon before? How do you get your ticket?
 
£23 ticket?! This better be the best damn movie of all time or I'm coming back here to collect from all those that recommended it

Norway is expensive. I just forked out over $50 for two mid row tickets for the 21:00 showing. Better be the best thing since organic life.

A critic should endeavor to go into a movie without any preconceived notions or biases. When that is not possible, they at least owe it to the reader to be honest and forthright about it. So I am compelled to say that I expected "Avatar" to be underwhelming.

Alright, let's be blunt: I really thought this movie was going to suck.

Boy, was I wrong -- wonderfully, joyously wrong. Never have I been so happy to have my expectations shattered.

Like many, I watched the trailers for "Avatar" and cringed. This is what writer/director James Cameron spent $300 million on (and by some estimates, much more) for his return to feature filmmaking after 12 years away? Never has a movie been so ill-served by its previews.

IMAX 3D is apparently the best of the three projection techs. It's 'real' 3D yeah. I saw the preview in RealD and was perfectly happy with the quality of the 3D, it was incredible. I got the ticket in a strange way, I live in London but I knew I would be staying with my parents over xmas so I'm going to the Birmingham IMAX on Wednesday, and their online booking was down when they first went on sale so I had my mate go to the venue and buy the tickets. There is a list on Wikipedia telling you every IMAX in the country, so you can try and find one near you, you should easily get a nice cinema ticket way cheaper than £23.

I believe there's a machine in the cinema where you put in your credit card and retrieve your tickets.

The Imax tickets near me are $17 + $2 (for pre order processing fee?) + Tax...yeah so $20 a ticket...way expensive.

Also..for an additional $7!!! a ticket you get VIP access, which lets you sit in the theatre before everyone else and choose your seat. Unbelieveable.

I don't live in an English-speaking country, so far all 3D presentations have been dubbed in spanish(Avatar seems to be the exception). So yeah that's what I mean by dubbed. Very surprised to read that movies are subtitled for the hearing impaired in the UK, that's kind of neat actually.

Holy shit that's expensive. For The Bridge IMAX in Los Angeles, it was 17.25 per ticket plus we have reserved seating in cozy leather seats. And that's a real IMAX.

Yeah because getting GAF members to see Avatar is key to the movie's success. I wish they'd pay me to post in forums.

reserved seating? I WISH. They line everyone up outside of the theater, and let everyone in 5 minutes before the movie starts..so everyone goes scrambling for a seat..its just crazy. Definitely makes the experience LESS fun. In fact my wife HATES the Imax because of this. This is a REAL Imax too, the only one remotely near me. The other LieMax is in Miami.
