GhaleonEB said:Either way, they'd have done modeling like that; the point being, that isn't just concept art. It's an early render of Quaritch, which was later used in the film.
(The shots were medium distance.)
I''m definitely not one that thought that. I knew it would do good. I am surprised by the 2.6% drop. I was thinking it would drop 20 points more. I'm really glad though, Cameron is the fucking man, and I want him to succeed! But Titanic had like a 25% increase, and a 40DanielPlainview said:Yeah, I don't see how people can write off the possibility so easily, but it seems like they are the same people that thought Avatar wouldn't succeed period. Titanic only made around 30 mil each weekend, what do you think ppl were saying back then? With the Bluray rls rumored for April that would be a huge factor in cutting off its returns though.

And like you said, medium shots.. so CG dummies essentially.
BTW! Did you know Batman Begins has CG Bale in it?

Whoa. Really? Never noticed. I was looking for that in the scene, too.Jibril said:Yes. Also, when he's saying " YOUR REAL LEGS!" and shadow boxes with the AMP suit on.

he's cg in that shot? I could have sworn he was real but the suit itself was CGJibril said:Yes. Also, when he's saying " YOUR REAL LEGS!" and shadow boxes with the AMP suit on.
jett said:That's not right, I've seen behind the scenes footage of Stephen Lang shadowboxing while inside the AMP suit.![]()
This really makes me think that they have a bunch of finalized stuff that they didn't use in the theatrical release. I'm betting they'll include all of it in an extended physical release. I hope so, anyway. I want as much of this film possible.Dead said:Whoa, that pic was definitely not in the movie. Post battle epilogue?
Wonder who he is holding.Tsu'tey?![]()

Zophar said:I think it's totally possible. Titanic took 10 months to hit 1.8 billion. Avatar's hit 1/3 of that in just 10 days.
You need to look at the situations a little more carefully than that; run the numbers.msdstc said:Things are different now. Look at Dark Knight which took 1/4 of the domestic total in just one weekend. It's probably not going to happen.
Solo said:Ill next be watching it on Bluray, whenever that is.
Solo said:Just got in from my third and final theatrical viewing of Avatar. Its not that I couldnt or wouldnt see it more times, but rather that it just feels like the perfect time to get off. Each vewing has been even better than the last, and I dont want to ruin that by oversaturating myself. Avatar. Is. The. Best. Theatrical. Experience. Ever.
Ill next be watching it on Bluray, whenever that is.
$212M domestic and $616M WW in 10 fucking days? Good lawd! :lol :lol :lol
Scullibundo said:I reckon you will have one more viewing in you.
Solo said:If so, and you may be right, Im not going to do it for at least 3 weeks until I have gotten some distance from it.
I only think a 3DTV would be worth it if were autostereoscopic. If I have to wear glasses to enable the 3D function in my own home, then I don't think it's worth it at all. I will, however, be getting a 3D enabled monitor for games and stuff. It'll be significantly cheaper than a 3DTV.Rabid Wolverine said:+1.
And forking over for a 3D TV.
That shit is amazing. QuadHD auto stereoscopic? Fuck...U K Narayan said:When I get a 3DTV, it'll be something among these lines: http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2008/10/philips-3d-hdtv/ -- I just think it would be best to let the technology mature.
CassidyIzABeast said:Quad HD autostereo better be the end all be all of HDTVs
I don't wanna hear anything about an Octo HD virtual reality TV the year after I upgrade
Nah, QuadHD is all you're getting for a long time. 35mm film 4k transfers are basically QuadHD, so you essentially have all the cinema from day one to now being around QuadHD max. They used to use larger film, 70mm (65mm negatives) however, the vast majority is 35mm.CassidyIzABeast said:Quad HD autostereo better be the end all be all of HDTVs
