It's been a long time since I watched Oz - in fact, I haven't seen it since it was airing on its initial run. It turns into a huge turd, but I started rewatching the first season last week.

God DAMN what a good fucking show. Kareem Said is fascinating, and easily one of the best characters out of the whole cast. Every scene he is in is compelling, he commands your attention, and it's incredible. Another person who did a great job is the actor who played McManus - what a fucking prick. This time around I'm noticing a lot more how much of a shithead he really is. Fuck that guy. Watching Jefferson Keane try to redeem himself is fantastic. Everything about these first four episodes of the first season is amazing.

It really is a shame how it falls apart near the end, once they bring in shit like ghosts. Because this first season, and probably the second and even third - they're amazing. It all went downhill as soon as we lost Adebisi, but maybe a little before. Querns was a rough spot.

I'm itching for Keller to appear - he was one of the most convincing sociopaths I'd ever seen, and the way he toys with Beecher is unreal.

Anyone else want to go back and share your thoughts? I know, we all know, it falls apart at the end.

Loved the show, though I felt it didn't get a proper ending.

Loved the evolution of Beechers character through out.

I wish there was another good prison drama out there.

It definitely didn't get a proper ending. Not after all the weird shit they brought up. Now I'm curious if it had writers switched, rotated out, or some executive meddling that made it get, well, weird.

It's obvious everything after season 3 was handled by someone else. Really obvious. Anyway, was still good compared to the godly first 3.

Adebisis lives! The death of
Adebisi and the narrator
truly shocked me.

The thing about Oz is I can't see any of the other actors in anything else. I could learn Adebisi's, Alvarez's, Beecher and Keller's real name, but it would be a waste of my time when I am not going to call them anything else.

JK Simmons owned that show. Love how many cast members ended up on the Law & Order franchise.

No matter how many times I see Spider-Man, when I see him, I see Schillinger. Every fucking time.

Oz is one of the GOAT shows!

I used to watch it when i could when it aired in the UK but it was on around 1am and so i didnt watch it all due to me being younger.

Few years back me and the wife picked up the complete box-set and went through it and loved it all.

The first season is so god, the build up to the riot is so well done! I remember watching the episode and you could just feel the tension building up and as soon as that fight kicked off and you knew it was all going down it just felt so surreal. I remember being excited but scared at the same time, the thought of being there at the moment was truly horrifying.

I could go on all day though, so many great moments.

I know my wifes favourite moment was Adebisi pleading with Saed in the riots "You wanna help me? Then give me some tits!" LOL.

I loved the first few seasons but had to dip out after the ridiculously stupid aging pill storyline in season 3 or 4. I also had a hard time to adjusting to Christopher Meloni on Law & Order since I was so used to him as Chris Keller

I've watched the show twice. First 2 or 3 seasons are phenomenal, then it falls off the rails. The ending was pathetic, so rushed. Jefferson Keane was great, it sucks he gets offed so early but it worked really well with the story. Beecher vs Schilinger was really good the first couple seasons, got a bit silly when they were just trading off their kids lives in the later seasons.

Yup, whenever I'd see him I'd say "oh shit things are going to get sexually tense" because he just...he was ALL of that. It really is a testament to how perfect these characters fit their portrayals because THAT is what I go away from the show remembering these actors as.

Started it a few months ago and i'm still stuck in the last season. It started really good but there so many ridiculously bad plots later on. And Adebisi dropping out didn't help either for he was my favorite character. Nowhere near the top tier HBO shows, but for it being HBO's first drama show it still has my respect.
