It's been a long time since I watched Oz - in fact, I haven't seen it since it was airing on its initial run. It turns into a huge turd, but I started rewatching the first season last week.
God DAMN what a good fucking show. Kareem Said is fascinating, and easily one of the best characters out of the whole cast. Every scene he is in is compelling, he commands your attention, and it's incredible. Another person who did a great job is the actor who played McManus - what a fucking prick. This time around I'm noticing a lot more how much of a shithead he really is. Fuck that guy. Watching Jefferson Keane try to redeem himself is fantastic. Everything about these first four episodes of the first season is amazing.
It really is a shame how it falls apart near the end, once they bring in shit like ghosts. Because this first season, and probably the second and even third - they're amazing. It all went downhill as soon as we lost Adebisi, but maybe a little before. Querns was a rough spot.
I'm itching for Keller to appear - he was one of the most convincing sociopaths I'd ever seen, and the way he toys with Beecher is unreal.
Anyone else want to go back and share your thoughts? I know, we all know, it falls apart at the end.
