TL;DR: NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 50 SUPER Series refresh, launching in late 2025, features a significant 50% VRAM increase across models, with up to 24GB GDDR7 memory and higher boost clocks. The RTX 5070 SUPER also gains CUDA cores, enhancing performance for gaming and AI workloads on the Blackwell architecture.

With VRAM capacity being a hot topic for both high-end PC gaming and AI workloads, a GeForce RTX 5070 SUPER with 18GB of fast GDDR7 memory, and a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti SUPER and RTX 5080 SUPER with 24GB sound pretty good. The increased memory will also be accompanied by an increase in power draw, indicating that the SUPER series will ship with higher boost clock speeds than their non-SUPER counterparts.

Scummy Nvidia releasing the cards with the vram they should've had from the get go
Samsung 3GB GDDR7 chips that these will be using only came out in June.

They would have needed to double the number of onboard memory chips like they did with the 16GB 5060ti, or a major architecture change for 384bit memory bus. I'd have preferred that, but that doesn't seem to be NVIDIA game plan anymore.

I may try and sell my 5080 ahead of time (still have my 3080 as a backup) and see if the price isn't crazy.

I really want to have more VRAM for running local AI models.

I doubt 5080 super sells much better than 5080, especially if the price is higher than $1000, the extra vram only useful for extreme niche situations, but never underestimate the stupidly of some PC gamers.

The problem is that the 5080 Super will only be on the market for a year, before the RTX 6000 series.
They can just release the 6000 series with less vram than the super. Win win. It's like the Switch OLED but much much MUCH MUCH more relevant to the purchase and value of the product.

Buying Nvidia cards is not a timid man's game.

I've been playing on a Sapphire 9070 XT for a few months. My first AMD card after years of Nvidia cards - I've had zero issues of any kind. Everything just works great. You can find them in stock for $750-$800.

;)

True. If you didn't get a 5090 you are kinda screwed with these SUPER series . But if you didn't wait or you can manage now to sell your cards without much of a loss and get one of these super series, you are set for the next 3 to 4 years
A 5080 with 24 gigs and multi frame gen ? Or even a 5070ti super with 24 gigs ? Yeah you are golden .

Hmmm. I was going to go for a new PC build end of August with RTX 5080... IS the Super that much better? I don't know the numbers. My GPU budget was $1,300 though.

After new consoles come out, I doubt 16GB VRAM will be sufficient for high end PC gaming

For cross gen period it will be fine, maybe highest rest textures will missing in some titles but games should work correctly. After that... Who knows, depends on how much memory consoles will have (24 or 32GB).

Same power but more memory, basically this. 5070 super is the only rumored one that will actually be faster than 5070 AND have more memory.

I just want them to make a newer version of the A2000 ada 16gb card for doing local AI models on a custom NAS I'm going to build at the end of the year.

Those cards are pretty compact with lower power use, but I think I'm just gonna suck it up and go with a 16gb 5060ti given the better performance at a price that isn't above a grand.

Same. I think this card at MSRP will go down as one of the best cards ever in terms of longevity/price point ratio. DLSS really gave it like 3-4 more years of lifespan.

Even the 3080 felt overpriced. The last truly good deal I feel like I got from Nvidia was the 1080.

Unfortunately, I also feel like I've also gotten my money's worth out of the 4090. It is a beast for gaming but beyond that messing around with Stable Diffusion and now Wan 2.1 has been fun and fascinating to watch it all progress so fast. As AAA demanding games I actually want to play get more few and far between I think I may actually be more interested in that than the gaming.

Only gonna get more expensive from here but if I broke it down to entertainment per minute I am cool spending 2k.

Without spec upgrade is kind of disappointing, because I think the chip (5080/5070 Ti) will run out of power before it runs out of VRAM.

What will happen is that it might fuel the amateur AI market.

They are increasing the TGP so perhaps the Super models will clock a bit higher.

The price is sure going to be interesting. I think it will be a bit higher MSRP.

It's Nvidia and their AIBs. They will blame tariffs and bump prices up another 10-20%… including Europe and Asia. 😉

If I can get the Founders at MSRP $1000 - $1,200 would be worth it. Since most 5080s are already $1,300 right now. I have 3x 1440p Monitors. Could use the VRAM. 24GB is a lot though.
