It's not just the stores, the AIB vendors have a margin and make changes to the board to make it more appealing and justify that markup. The FE cards are part of the reason EVGA left the GPU business.

It´s no more of a scam than a Bugatti or a Ferrari.
They are outlier luxury products for absolute enthusiasts.

Would upgrading from 3080 to 5080 make any sense considering dlss 4.0?
My cpu is 3700x on x570. it fucking sucks ass... but it shouldn't matter for 4k max ultra settings gaming and FG dlss4 rigggght ?

It's a good question in reality as there are still games that are Cpu bound for sure, but it will be interesting to see how the 50 series interact with a relatively weak Cpu.

For those games that support mfg it may disguise it.

In 5000 series in particular, 5090 is the card that got the biggest upgrade vs previous gen.

Most of ya’ll have no business complaining about the 5090 pricing as you aren’t even doing anything other than rendering frames in a game — many of which don’t capitalize on any of the advanced hardware features. You aren’t doing cryptomining, exporting 4K from AE/PP, CAD simulations, AI model training, 3D animations for the latest PH video or deep-fake AI online profile to scam sugar daddies — all of whom don’t give a fuck and will drop the bag.

It’s misleading due to the advertising being is nebulous. If it 5070 can rasterize frames (with DLSS) at X to 4090’s Y, where Y is relatively low on the latter, then certainly so — technically still true. Rasterization is believable however, as it’s far less computationally expensive compared to other more complex techniques/processes leveraging more powerful hardware.

This is mostly impressive stuff at first glance, happy for some of the good stuff coming for 4xxx, now only if I could download some VRAM for that 4070Ti..

On the other hand, too bad you have Starfields and Avatars releasing without official DLSS FG support... and you're fucked there. Well Avatar still doesn't have it :|
Hopefully this is rare, but still pure performance is king, all these extra features are very tricky until they can be forced into basically any game without in game support via this Nvidia app or whaterver.

Will keep an eye for this 5080 during the year, see the reviews, maybe some upcoming yet unknown games are bundled or something later down the line, and I might fall for 16 Gb despite being below my expectation for the next upgrade...
