Predictions for Italy V France (?)

I really don't think it can top that Japan game but who knows.

Any result is possible, it just depends on which France shows up. The France who can beat anyone on their day or the France who can lose to anyone on their day.

Damn I have completely forgot rules of this magnificent game, but still enjoyed game. And that joy on faces of players and fans of Japan, priceless.

I was in South Africa for this match, in an Afrikaans pub. Lots of big, burly Afrikaaner men around. They take their rugby serious. By the end, they stood and applauded Japan. I think that says everything about that match. Absolutely stunning, I feel privileged to have watched it.

I've been watching international rugby for about 15 years and that is the most incredible result I've ever seen. Well done Japan. Just wonder if they have anything left in the tank for the rest of the pool.

Just an incredible match. Im now an extremely nervous Scot who is equally nervous about Japan on Wednesday as well as being optimistic about topping the group. Amazing, bravo Japan.

Oh, if Japan play even half that well Scotland will be very worried.
Its the 14 man driving maul Im worries about. Weve looked decent in warm ups though and now we wont be surprised by a tight contest. The days of 100 point victories are long gone.

I've been watching a bit longer than that, and this result stands up to Llanelli beating the All Blacks in 1972 - and a far better game too.

Given how the refs just ignore the offside at the mauls then they're pretty much unstoppable if the mauling team gets an initial push which they usually do unless the defense premeditate defending the maul

TMO, c'mon! Can we thank the big screen for that error being flagged up?
2nd time this world cup the big screen has helped the refs after ruling out a Fiji trt yesterday. Good that they do that with the stupid football rules where refs have to stick with their original decision.

Quite an ugly game until now. So many stupid mistakes.

Edit: how many more penalties can the Italian scrum provoke? Is there a record to break?

It's a hell of a day when Japan, South Africa, France and Italy all play rugby World Cup matches and Japan looks the best team.

Ridiculously proud of Japan. Unfortunately I missed the game but watching the highlights made me shed some happy tears for them, what an effort. Well deserved.

And Georgia have been the second best looking team today. The Six Nations really should be expanded to include them, I think they have far more potential than Italy.

We've been bad for years ... And now we're just terrible. I don't have much faith this year.

We never recovered from that loss in the final against NZ 4 years ago :(

That's unfair, they didn't choke. Japan just had testicles cast from solid titanium.

It doesn't make much sense either. SA have won two Rugby World Cup's, even though they've competed in two less than everyone else (they missed 1987 and 1991 due to Apartheid). They're not chokers.

Had no signal inside the ground, so all my thoughts are here:

-Atmosphere was amazing
-France look pretty impressive
-Italy have no discipline
-Japan to win the world cup

I guess I got my answer, it seems I missed one hell of a match.

Annoyed with Italy. Poor dislike. That penalty count was ridiculous.

Wasn't impressed with France. Didn't think they played that great. Italy gifted them to many points.

Great atmosphere in the stadium. Did wish there was more Italian fans though. Felt like I was in Paris.

Damn where to start today.

Good display by Ireland earlier. No injuries and Henderson looking like a monster is what I took out of it.

Onto South Africa, towards the end a part of me was rooting for Japan there. Heyneke Meyer is going to get the slating of his life by the Boks media and I'm glad. Sure picking an experienced team with over 1000+ caps might look good on paper, but it's clear some players picked are purely there on past achievements and not picked on form. I'm sorta glad this happened, as surely it'll mean there'll be changes to the XV for the next few pool matches and we'll find our best team. Still think we'll top the group though.

Seriously that Japan vs South Africa match was one of the greatest displays of rugby I've ever seen - I had to see it twice with 2 different groups on the count if how tasteful it was. I was deeply moved and shed tears upon witnessing the sheer beauty and soul that Japan showed today. Very impressed by how far Japan has come. Congratulations go the Brave Blossoms.
