I have NEVER seen anything like that.

Thank god I checked the score with 15 minutes to go. Thank god. I would never have believed it otherwise.

This game was fucking amazing, holy shit I thought Japan was going to get messed up like Canada did. So glad I was wrong!!!

Can only hope we get even one more game like this, couldn't have asked for better.

I had half an eye on the score throughout the match but only checked in at 76 minutes. I did not believe. Amazing result, and such pride from the Japanese players and the coaching staff at the end.

Well well well.

What a wonderful finish. Well done Japan, that certainly sets the standards for the rest to match up to.

Without doubt the biggest world cup surprise ever. What an incredible moment. Something truly special.

Holy crap... Incredible show from Japan, biggest upset I can remember in a LONG time. that was a game people will be talking about for a long time!

Wishing I had managed to get tickets from the ballot for this game instead of USA Samoa tomorrow, would have loved to be there to witness that game in the stadium.

Also, all credit to them for having the balls to twice turn down the draw and go for the won instead.

Them going for the try instead of kicking it for a draw is probably one of the most insane decisions ever under these circumstances, but how well did it pay. Still can't believe it.

Yeah very true. Part of me thought they'd take the draw in front of the posts. I don't know if I would've had the balls to go for the win. Even a draw would be a top result.

Any videos as good introductions to Rugby Union for someone who wants to use this WC to get into watching the sport?

Now that the insanity is over, I'll try answer your question. Have you tried looking on Youtube for any videos? My advice would be to check a couple of those out, watch a game and then ask any questions you can think of in here.

The basics are relatively simple, 15 players per side, 8 on the bench (who are permanent replacements, you can't just interchange them constantly unless there's a concussion test/blood injury) and passes have to go backwards. Tries are 5 points, conversions are 2 points and penalties and drop kicks are 3 points. When a player is tackled with the ball, a ruck is formed around them. If a pass goes forward or the ball is lost forward, a scrum is awarded to the opposite team. If the ball goes out, a lineout is awarded to the opposite team. If a penalty is awarded, the captain gets the choice between a shot at goal, a lineout from a kick or a scrum.

Ref twice said do you want to take the pen. Japan refused wanting the try and got it! Very brave and so happy they got the win. They were 100/1 to win at the start of the game.

Yeah, I definitely thought they'd take the 3 points the second time.

Damn, i have to work overtime this weekend so i missed the match, sounds like it was a corker! Good work, Japan!

Now hopefully Wales can pull a few surprise victories too despite their injury woes!
Let me be, I can hope :)
