GTA VI will be sold at two packs at launch: GTA VI + Online or GTA Online, per Tez2:

R*/T2 already sell GTAO & RDO separately, but VI will be the first game where online is sold separately at launch, while story mode will be part of the full package that covers both. They will have to factor the online standalone price into the total cost. What portion of the base price will be the online's price? And what would be the story mode upgrade price for those who've bought the online standalone?

So Rockstar want us to pay them for the privilege to spend money on GTA Online..... Let me laugh...

It'll probably work as well.

I'd go so far to say It'll start new trend in the industry where a majority of publishers will sell the MP mode separately from the SP mode.

Didn't we have that for a while? I remember EA trying something like this back with ME3 and some Battlefield. EA Online Pass or something.

IIRC, this was a small token payment that you needed to pay if you bought the game second hand.

What I think will happen is a majority of publishers will now sell their games in pieces.

£70 for the SP (with optional DLC for an extra cost)
£30 for the MP (with optional MTX you can pay for)

Or pay £100 for the "complete" edition.

Sounds good to me. I played GTO back when it first launched. Once, probably for less than 2 hours. Just because it was there. Would have been nice to be spared the expense for a chunk of game I didn't want.

Ahh, I was excited there for a moment, if they sold the singleplayer client separately from the Online it would be music to my ears, the install size would be reduced and modding the singleplayer would also be easier instead of having to deal with online's bullshit.
But if it's just like GTAO where you either buy the complete package or just the online then as always T2 and Rockstar can go fuck themselves. Although I'll obviously still buy GTA 6 regardless because I can't help myself...

Makes sense

I don't really care for the MP

But I guess that $70 for this game it's kind of expensive. I mean, I didn't pay $60 for V for example, and I joined MP a couple times just for the lulz

I'll be in for both. I'm sure they will also find a way to milk me for a month of GTA+ to transfer over my character, cars and a portion of my GTA cash.

That would be great. No risk of sp & mp integration (within the same session) to push more people towards switching to online. No mp trophies. No game updates related to the online module.

I think some people are misunderstanding. There is no single player only version. As far as I know, this is the way GTA5 (and RDR2) has been since their current gen versions launched. You buy single player including online, or just only online. Hopefully it's not $100 for the single player package. I think they'll do $70.

People are so stupid these days they'll pay $85 per month for cable, which is 90% commercials, so this doesn't surprise me at all.

I have limited time to play these days and the single player will probably take several hundred hours to 100%, so I don't care if they sell them separately.

Honestly Rockstar could probably get away with charging $70 for each

Am I the only one that thinks this is bad news for SP gamers? I’m starting to think this will definitely not be $70. I might still get it, but it feels icky like signing up for a cable TV bundle

Do people have reading comprehension issues? They aren’t selling them separately! They are offering MP by itself. Single player gamers who don’t care about MP get it shoved down their throat anyways at a likely higher price.

They want everyone to have access to MP. It makes them money. They won’t let you opt out by only buying SP.

This is honestly fair value on the end. Think about it in terms of GTA5 as it launched in 2013. The single player on its own was 100% worth $60. It was massive and very high budget. Worth the $60 price on its own. If you were interested in GTA Online, an extra $30 for what it was offering would have also been reasonable.

The problem is they sold GTA V for some long with both of these massive offerings packaged into one $60 product that it seems insane to break it up to date. But when it comes to the value each mode offers, it 100% makes sense to sell them separately.

I'm not trying to shill for the company but I'm also not going to pretend like their single players entries aren't worth the asking price of $70 on their own when we know how massive their single player games are.
