Seriously, who the heck wants to play through this Ubisoft like game AGAIN?
I think it's just a matter of the overall decision making being at the hands of Sony financial analysts than the creatives. Maybe the numbers/projections showed that Sony at a group level would be far more profitable by focusing on low risk but high return projects (remakes or remasters of already established franchises, gaas type titles etc) while also realising synergies in marketing with the movie/TV businesses. If the directive from the top says to prioritise low risk ventures, the studio heads can't do anything. If I worked at ND and found out that both SSM and GG had tied themselves to last gen hardware, id be ecstatic given this free win. But no, ND tied themselves to last gen engine too. What happened to the culture at these studios? Cory said these games take 4-5 years to make now so he wanted to finish GOW's story in 2 games instead of 3. Ok. But who gives a shit about the story? this is a VIDEO GAME. Why isnt the first thought in your mind GAMEPLAY? Why arent you looking at that crazy hardware cerny created and think hey, we are 5 years away from this sequel, maybe we should target next gen hardware and set a new bar. Create a new masterpiece instead of treading old ground?
Okay, in my defense, this was before Ubisoft went to crap.*looks at avatar
errrr not really.Completely absurd if true.
The story of gamingOkay, in my defense, this was before Ubisoft went to crap.
Also nobody bought it, so that's probably why they went to crap in the first place.
That’s the sad part about this. They have games that screams for a remaster but choose the games that are in no need of a remaster. Demon’s Souls was a great choice to remake but since then there has only been ones that make me scratch my head.Sony will remaster/remake a five year old game, but not give Bloodborne or The Last Guardian 60fps patches
Because Sony doesn't look at it from "which games need it" perspective. It's pretty clear that Sony rates its franchises based on multi media appeal. As good as games like Bloodborne and the last Guardian are, they have almost no multi media appeal. They can't exploit them outside of video games in the way that they can with Horizon. That’s the sad part about this. That's a very good point. The more Horizon we get, we all win. Just not how I expected lol.according to the Horizon Pattern™ that would mean that a week after this remake or remaster, a remake or remaster of an actually good open world game will be released, rightfully overshadowing the Horizon remake/remaster.
so who's ready for BotW on Switch 2?

This isn’t a full fledged remake, its a “directors cut” remaster, like Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding, Uncharted…etc It will probably be a 10 dollar upgrade at most or just included with the multiplayer.

I suspect they will do a "complete edition" a bit like Miles Morales and Spiderman 1 remastered. Horizon zero dawn remastered + Horizon Forbidden west + maybe the new DLC. Likely for new players more than anything just like the Spiderman bundle.First Horizon still holds up. Who is this for? People who have played it will most likely not care and new players will probably never even see the difference between the original and part two. With TLOU I can understand but this is super crazy.
Lol reselling a game they already sold to you in a bundle to get the first game and DLC for "cheaper" in a different bundle is a very Sony move.I suspect they will do a "complete edition" a bit like Miles Morales and Spiderman 1 remastered. I guess but they did offer Spiderman 1 remaster standalone eventually and the DLC was always available separately so here's hoping.Lol reselling a game they already sold to you in a bundle to get the first game and DLC for "cheaper" in a different bundle is a very Sony move.
I completely forgot about the spiderman remaster :/ You’re right, that is the same thing. I have a feeling this one isn’t going to work out like how they think it will. Spiderman has universal appeal. Horizon is good but it ain’t Spiderman.I suspect they will do a "complete edition" a bit like Miles Morales and Spiderman 1 remastered. They should do like Fortnite does and if you already own pieces of the bundle (digitally) they discount it so you are only paying for what you don't already own.I guess but they did offer Spiderman 1 remaster standalone eventually and the DLC was always available separately so here's hoping.
You can’t buy Spidey standalone on PS5. You have to buy Miles first, then it’s $20.I guess but they did offer Spiderman 1 remaster standalone eventually and the DLC was always available separately so here's hoping.
I can understand being frustrated with Sonys communication but being actually outraged about the idea of a remaster of a popular game is absolutely absurd to me lol
Someone post that pornstar meme with saying “oh fuck, jimbos gonna make me pay 70 dollars for another remake”
Thanks, didn't know this. Maybe because I had Miles already. You can’t buy Spidey standalone on PS5. You have to buy Miles first, then it’s $20.
How can this be a major remake when they are simply going from one PS4 game to another. They are literally porting over to HFW's character models. At least TLOU was a PS3 game remade with PS4 quality assets from TLOU2. This is a quick cash grab reusing the character models and other visual enhancements made for the sequel. And mark my words, this will be a $70 release. They will justify it by making it PS5 only, and by touting amazing next gen features like accessibility settings and dualsense features.I don't think this is a major remake.
It sounds to me like it was easy enough to place the updated character models and procedural generated tech into making Horizon more modern.
I don't really have a problem with this so long as it doesn't take away from significant resources elsewhere. I see it similarly to the Spider-Man for PS5 updates
