I for one ant the next-gen finally to happen, I hate when multiplatform games look miles and miles better on PC. 2 GB RAM would be pretty ridiculous though...
Sounds like you want a pc then. there's no way pc games wont be better.

It would be great having some sort of announcement at CES, though I don't think it will happen. There's e3 2012 to steal Nintendo's thunder.
CES is also my birthday. I want a surprise, Ms!
Everything is good if we get new consoles in 2012. I want new toys.
They'll definitely keep Xbox, it's a brand, worth who knows how much, and they spend a ton building such things...

Xbox Fusion is an awful name. That's some 1990s "Ultra 64" level shit. Worked then, but not now.
Wii. WiiU. Vita.
Microsoft has never unveiled a console at E3. I don't see them starting now.
Wii. WiiU. Vita.
2001 CES
2005 Pre Show Mtv (garbage )
... well maybe they have realized that "The third time's a charm"
i'm pretty sure they will use E3 2012 to unveil ( or at least to announce ) xbox next
Wii was a fantastic name for the audience Nintendo was attempting to gain.

Yeah, i`m more than ready for the new machines. Though 2 GB of RAM would be indeed very disappointing after a seven year lifespan. I agree.

Patent is so generic it's pretty meaningless. Could be for 360 or nothing at all just another patent to throw on the pile.
Anyways, I just now realized the OP rumors reference CES. If Xb720 isn't at CES, doesn't it throw these "specs" into question?
From what I heard from a direct source(first time I have a source related to gaming xD). It's indeed going to be called the "720" and is slated for 2012. Didn't want to pry into technical details.
[Nintex];33984367 said:Edge referenced to CES, this rumor said CES and Paul Thurott expected CES so it was being mentioned by 3 seperate sources. In any case I'm not sure in what form the nextgen Xbox will show up at CES. It could be as much as a teaser showing the box and specs, it could be AMD hyping up their deal with Microsoft with fancy tech-demo's or it could be Ballmer saying: "Yeah we have a new Xbox coming and it'll also run the Windows 8 kernel, more on that later this year."
Not to mention your boy Geoff and the folks at Spike were plugging CES like crazy for absolutely no reason.
As a general note, when this isn't announced at CES, I'm locking this thread and we can start a new one the next time we get a better quality rumor.
Well, technically I will be locking this even if it is announced since we will be talking about it in a new thread anyway.

Well, I'm sure no mention of it will come at CES, I'm just saying that kind of throws the specs in the title into question for me! Which is too bad because they're the most realistic alleged leaked specs we've gotten.
720 is a really awful name. I hope it's not named that. But also I probably won't be buying it since my gaming interests have dwindled immensely.
Still think 720 is lame. Xenon sounded cool. Something along those lines would be better.
Microsoft has never unveiled a console at E3. I don't see them starting now.
But people would think it only does 720p.720 is more plausible to me than anything else. We will see (in 2013)![]()
Yeah, two GPUs is about as realistic as you can get!
The people who care about those technical details would know that it does not. Uhm.. or it should not.But people would think it only does 720p.
It won't be 720. It has just been the short hand name for it ever since the 360 was announced.
Codename rumors so far are Loop and Fusion from what I remember, but I doubt they will be called that when launching (sadly, since I'm growing to like Loop)
Thing is he's the dad of a friend of mine. Seemed like a rude thing to ask. He doesn't work for the gaming devision, but for MS as a whole. I understand this post doesn't hold a lot of weight, but wanted to offer some form of added credibility to the other reports.Well the next time he delivers a pizza to your place ask him for the technical details.
Time will tell won't it? It's called the "Xbox 720" just to be clear.i think it's more probable they will announce at CES 2012 with 16core, 2 gpu and 16gb of ram as " available tomorrow worldwide " than next xbox will be ever called "720"

Time will tell won't it?It won't be called the 720. That number is associated with a screen resolution which is sub-par for most tech geeks.

And? Like I said above, those tech geeks would probably know the details about the hardware, so it's not really meaning anything to them.
Like you don't feel the need to believe someone over the Internet. I don't either. Especially those who use flawed reasoningI'm telling you now![]()

It was never a win and loss scenario. Just wanted to provide information(albeit minor) I heard at first hand. Whether you take away anything from it, is for you yourself to decide. If you're right you can gloat and feel like a god, if you're wrong, everyone expected you to be...its a no loss scenario lol.
It could be referenced as in: 'the next generation of xbox can run windows 8....'
essentially confirming its existance...
360's (live) features were teased at GDC before 360 was unveiled.

Not particularly. You'd really just need a little extra space for inputs. Possibly dual hard drives as well... though they're not exactly massive. If MS puts DVR stuff into a powerfull console, the resulting hardware will be pretty big, no?

I have contridactory info.
Also, I see no opportunity in releasing in 2012 for MS. Kinect was a success with casuals. Christmas 2012 is full of big hitters. Nintendo won't get powered-up ports next Christmas that could lure hardcore gamers.
but the patent seems to imply DVR could run alongside gaming, I suppose adding components adds heat when they run and thus implies a better thermal insulation etc...
Anyway, last thing I remember that boasted such a feature was the PSX, so.
