Stream it probably, didn't they already do it with one of the newer AC titles? There's no way you're shoehorning actual W3 to run on Switch hardware, that ain't never gonna happen.

There's footage of it already:

Nah but seriously, can't see that happening, not do be a downer but, this doesn't seem possible at all without the game being completely different.

I have a hard time believing that people are being honestly excited about playing a downgraded port of a soon to be 4 yr old game.

Well it could work with minimal physics, short viewdistances and 480p res with lower than minimal pc details and less NPCs. Could work, but I really don't want to see it.

People can be excited about literally anything as long as it's on switch, I don't understand it either.

I just paid more for The Banner Saga on Switch when I could have got it for less than half the cost on the Steam sale because I feel a tactics-style game is more suited to a portable play style going by my past experiences with this genre and that is the way I want to play it. I don't want to be stuck in front of a computer playing battle after battle.

That shouldn't be hard to understand. If it is, you are trying too hard.

It's going to be the latest single player card game, TW3 is already potato graphics on current gen consoles, cant imagine it even booting on a tablet.

People say this for all kinds of games though, when it's a rpg it's because people don't want to sit in front of a game for hours and prefer portability, when it's a short arcade game it's because people don't want to sit in front of a game just for short sessions and prefer portability, etc etc...
So what, people only want handheld gaming from now on then?

The crazy thing is, you see, it does both. Crazy, I know. Not sure why anyone would want that. Must be fanboys.

I was looking at some benchmarks and you need around 1TF gpu to run it at 720p @30 fps at low - so even if they heavily reprogrammed it to use as much FP16 as possible and use dynamic resolution we would still be looking at below 720p when docked.

The only way I can see it happening would be making it rumoured Switch Pro exclusive.

Well because it's true for some people - I had this with Vita - the hardware felt so good to me that I wanted to play every game possible on it.
I finished dozens of games on it when the ones I try now on PS4/PC usually end unfinished after few dozens of hours.

It's possible. It's also possible that it could run and look decent enough. Just change your mindset a bit. It obviously would never reach Xbox one X visuals, but even the X has a lot of issues still (Sky is messed up in HDR STILL? How!?)

It wasn't long ago, we were all totally ok with DS ports of games. Games that had barely anything to do with the main console versions. We were fine then. And honestly, the chance to flop out my switch on a long flight and play Witcher is one of the coolest ideas I can think of.

Let's just see. It likely won't happen, and is a pipe dream... but stranger things have happened.

Lol not happening. Maybe the witcher tales, the card game or adventure game or whatever else.

Basically just falls down to personal preference.

They can atleast port The Witcher 2. It did make its way to the 360 so the Switch shouldn´t have any issues running that. Besides I haven´t played 2 yet, I popped my Witcher-cherry with Wild Hunt.

If you're able, do give it a go no matter the system. People keep gushing about W3 how you decisions matter, but in my opinion, in the grand scheme of things, they really don't that much. Unless you count who Geralt ends up banging or not (and some epilogue stuff). In W2, the whole second act can be very different depending on what you do. The third act remains pretty much the same though, granted.

I mean, yeah. The Witcher 2 also had a port and in some ways even improved upon the PC build.

Witcher 3 Switch could be like that too: Custom-tailored.

However, it seems quite a stretch: Even when performing miracles you are hitting a set limit. A open world as detailed as Witcher 3 isn't exactly the first thing i think of when thinking ''Stuff that can run on Switch reasonably''. Witcher 2 is do-able, i feel, but Witcher 3? Hmmm.gif.

I'm very excited for this

After Skyrim and Witcher it's time for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 to make it's appearance for Switch

TW2 is also the most linear and least open game in the series though. While there is that big fork in the road you talk about, the game is mostly a series of small-ish self-contained areas. Nothing like TW3, so people shouldn't go back to 2 expecting that.

(I liked 2, but it's probably my least favorite in the series.)

Well if they optimize it fully before releasing it unlike panic buttons rush jobs it could be a pretty cool version and have all patches on the cart.

Ppl want this in 2019? Imo itll be a waste in making this a reality on Switch when most have played this elsewhere. Its like Dark Souls scenario, I dont think that sold to well. On Switch it was to late to the party. As a switch owner this in no way excites me, keep that old shit and get us new games.

Actually looks a lot like some legit PS1 era games.

I'm calling this bogus since the devs had said making it for Xbox 360 or PS3 would have been impossible, if it's not possible on them it's not possible on switch IMO.

Yes.

Meh, I care much more about third party exclusives for Switch. It would been much better if CD Project made new IP exclusive for Switch.

That's not how software engineering works. You are dealing with concrete technological limitations, you can't suddenly magically make Crysis run in 3D on an NES just by "changing your mindset".

No you can't.

But you CAN get Witcher on switch, with many changes and modifications.

While you can't get blood from a stone, and can't make something do it wasn't designed to do, don't forget the only difference between a switch and a Xbox one x is power. All extensions are there, some actually better than on Xbox.

So, with serious downgraded to texture resolution, geometry of characters/world items etc, it could be done and look far better than Ark. Ark was just a mess, and runs like shit on anything.

Change your mindset. Because sometimes, just sometimes, people will surprise you.

if there's anything to this it's a witcher game coming to switch, not 'the' witcher 3

and if the 2019 revision is a "switch pro" witcher 3 would be a perfect showcase title that i'm sure nintendo would be more than willing to get behind. but that's just speculation behind speculation

No way this is happening. Remember the original Xbox One (which is still massively more powerful than the Switch) running parts of this game at 12-15 FPS even at sub HD resolutions? Yeah no, the "dream" is dead.

I'd be curious to see how they got it running... I know panic button can work miracles with the switch and a big game and still make them run decently.

I mean I doubt it's true...it'd be shocking if it was...but otherwise a little unsure as to whether it'll happen..
