Run DMC were one of the best hip hop groups ever, nevermind one song or one video.

Tougher then Leather was the album everyone wanted to be.

Don’t let one song bring you down. Run DMC were the top of hip hop before it wS a thing.

The way they mixed rap and rock is what every late 90’s early 2000’s Nu metal band wanted to be.

They were 20 years ahead of the game.

Well this is easy....

Name the next band during the 80s/90s that did a genre mashup like this.

Name the same band doing a featuring or giving credit to the band they mixed genres with.

I think you’re right in a way. Where I disagree is relating nu metal to pop rock bands like Aerosmith. Nu metal bands weren’t trying to imitate Aerosmith, they were combining Pantera and other metal bands with the form of hip hop that average kids of the time could relate to.

It was a thing people tried to do throughout the 90s. Rap/Metal mix.

Really it goes RunDMC < Judgement Night soundtrack< Cypress Hill< Limp Bizkit and everyone after.

Even Anthrax did it ’89 with ”I’m the Man”

and again in 1991 with Bring tha noise.

To say any Metal bands weren‘t emulating this, seems unfair to the hands that came before them.

I don’t know either of those songs and I was a full fledged fan of limp bizkit and Korn when they were big

Well they are a full 10 years before Korn/Limp and the Family matters tours, it doesn’t make them less important as songs. If you ever played Tony Hawk you know “Bring tha noise.”
