Note: Impressions and overview covered in the first 12 minutes (Spoiler free). Rest of the video showcases a side mission that is meant to demonstrate the typical gameplay loop players should expect (Cutscenes removed to avoid story-related spoilers). Overall, the game seems to perform well enough on PC (No signs of massive micro stuttering or large FPS drops and Frame Gen actually helps a lot).

Wow, the game sounds straight up broken.

  • Performance is terrible, even with a 4090 using DLSS Performance
  • Awful texture pop-in.warping
  • Lighting is regularly busted
  • Reflections are glitchy
  • Light sources often don't work correctly (many areas that are clearly supposed to be properly lit are just black as if there's no light on)
  • NPCs and objects often glitch and just float in mid-air
  • UI elements flicker in and out for no apparent reason
  • NPCs will regularly stand on top of eachother during cutscenes
  • Weapon audio cuts out regularly and just straight up doesn't make any sound
  • Positional audio is completely borked and is completely inaccurate
  • Enemy AI is poor
  • When you complete an objective, it oftentimes won't update in the UI so you are unable to see that it's actually been completed
  • Map markers are regularly inaccurate (such as where stashes are, etc..), leading you to completely inaccurate locations
  • Stealth is totally busted; enemies can see you through walls

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Might try it out of curiosity but it's probably better to wait on this one for a while.

Plus I still have to play the original trilogy. :goog_relieved:

I will copy part of the review, that is talking directly about the technical problems (xbox) and how it got much better during last hours. It's from different language, I used google translator, because I'm tired to translate that myself, sorry...

The game arrived for review just a few days before release, and the whole process was strikingly reminiscent of Cyberpunk 2077: it was almost unplayable on day one, mainly because enemies would literally teleport and spawn around you out of nowhere, which was extremely frustrating. In addition, the dialogues also got stuck, the fluidity on the console dropped to 10 fps for some more demanding sequences or bosses. My guess is that if you run the disc-pressed version of the game offline without the patch, you'll see these "joys" for yourself. However, almost every day a new patch arrived, often many GB in size, with an iteration number several tens higher. Even the night before release, I was planning a different verdict for the game, as one of the last missions couldn't be completed due to broken scripting logic. But a patch arrived that same night that fixed it and improved a lot of other things as well. But I will not be at all surprised if some reviews will complain about problems that are no longer in the game - not every reviewer can play and edit the text literally until the last hour before the embargo, larger media often have more complex editorial processes. At this moment (I am writing the review literally a few hours before the game is released to the public) the game is in a noticeably better condition. Compared to how it worked and ran a week ago, it's a huge improvement. If you can turn on VRR support on your TV, the smoothness in performance mode is very good most of the time (50-60 fps by eye), which is truly a miracle, considering the vastness of the environment, the detail of the graphics and the occasional intensity of the action. At the same time, all kinds of flickering of surfaces and the user interface and other problems that the game suffered from a week ago disappeared. So the process of reviewing it was relatively painful, but I'm really amazed at how much things have improved and how well the game runs now.

TLDR: Thanks to the updates before launch the game is now in much better state (technically wise), than it was days ago and a lot of reviews will not take that into account, because of how the editorial processes are and those updates were "last minute".

Btw. The review I posted that translation from ended with 10/10 rating.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
You should of been there for the originals disc release in 2007. That shit was brutal..

But captivating

It was akin to self torture you couldn't stop yourself from trying :messenger_tears_of_joy:

To be fair they're not using X-Ray engine now, it's UE5 :p

Games releasing in the evening of release day is a huge pet peeve of mine.

Extremely frustrating.
I don’t tend to play games on the tv until the evening, after the brats are asleep. So evening launches have never been an issue. And I’d rather you all have to wait until I can play. 🙃

Is FSR3 even worth trying?

should be alright with DLSS?

my 6800xt has no such crutches to rely on so I think 25fps "locked" lol
I don't know dude the game seems a bit fucked ATM in general. Ima wait a while and see how it progresses

I am torn between continuing my Dragon Age Origins playthrough and wait for more patches or play the game now and enjoy the bug fest

The FSR 3 + frame generation, why would it be the same result as without frame gen?

"Regarding AMD FSR 3.0 Frame Generation, although it worked perfectly fine with AMD’s GPUs, it did not work at all on NVIDIA’s GPUs."

Oof my 4090 is hooked up to a tv with a controller but my 4070ti is on an ultrawide monitor with kb&m. I’d rather not play with a controller but the performance is eesh.

I’m excited to play this eventually but still haven’t played the original trilogy which I’d like to go through first. I was waiting on the next gen patch but at this point it might be a while before that happens. Pretty sure the update was supposed to be released this past summer but it never happened and they never gave an update, which is understandable given their situation. Might just play them now over the next few weeks while they fix the issues with this one.
