S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl delayed. Again.

A news update on THQ's German site reveals that S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl has once again been delayed. This time, however, it looks as if the title has slipped into the indefinite "when it's done" category.

The announcement quotes Oleg Yavorsky of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. developer GSC GameWorld. Roughly translated, the Yavorksy's comment reads: "We're happy that THQ is giving us more time for the development process. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is an extensive game which will raise the bar for the genre. We want to make sure that we publish the game only when it fulfills the highest expectations of both us and the fans -- and not before."

When last we heard about the ambitious first-person adventure title, THQ was announcing a release this spring. Now, it looks like GSC GameWorld is taking the DOOM 3 (or Duke Nukem Forever) route -- we'll see this puppy when it's done.

No problem here, at least they came right out with the "when it's done" line in a timely manner. That I can respect.

Darn... I was looking forward to this...

Maybe the eternally-delayed Call of Cthulhu will beat it out... That one's been delayed so long it looks like crap too:

I still want both though... :D

Stalker has graphics on par with Half Life 2, more or less, so I don't think it'll look "bad" anytime soon. They added DirectX 9 effects only a while ago, so as far as I can tell they're busy constantly improving not only the gameplay but the engine itself...

Stalker doesn't have any chances. If they test it with cyber player i dunno... it would be a real shit. And I saw the game in motion. They have no IA, no gameplay, no blood, no any good monsters and no real good physic engine. GSC never did the good FPS in the past (Code: Otbreak & Firestarter were the real crap) and wouldn't do i in the future. 2 bad for them.
