Now, before people freak out, its useful to remember the word reboot can be used in many ways. In this case, JP4 will still be a sequel, but at the same time build up its own lore and cast for future sequels to build from. They aren't remaking the first movie, ignoring, or shaking up the entire canon.. just taking a new direction with it.

That said, JP4 is still on hold. Some reports say the script had issues, others say it was too "epic" and went back to negotiations. It may be a bit of both. A lot of reports say the tight deadline forced Trevorrow and Connolly to rush in the final draft, which was greenlit at first but then decided that it needed more time by other high ups (Allegedly Spielberg). JP4 is still on, but I do have to wonder if it will film this year or if this hold will see it delayed by a large margin.

JP4 was set to star Bryce Dallas Howard and David Oyelowo, and it is likely they still hold those positions.

Believe me, I doubt believe that quote for a second. But one of the bigger sites reported it, saying the script was more epic and the scope grander than anticipated. Which is great and all, but why let go the entire crew? It smells of PR damage control. I'm guessing in all honestly that the script just needed more time.

The first movie is still really incredible today. One of the best summer blockbusters ever. I just think the concept can't work through multiple movies. They tried to squeeze so much out of JP but there's not a lot you can do with it.

Reboot as in the story will take a unique turn and focus on that plot, rather than focusing on the plot of the past films. Its still a sequel, but its being handled as a new starting point.

JP4 was gonna be on Nublar.. if I had to guess, there will be "no feathers" because they may plan to bring back the first films Dinosaurs visually.

This has a very logical explanation when you consider the dinosaurs in JP aren't purebred but are instead mixed with amphibious DNA. Just pretend they don't have feathers because frogs and geckos and shit don't have feathers either.
