TLDW: S5 versus S4 drop test. S5 gets dropped from 3 ft, 6ft, 7.5 ft, 10 ft and run over by an SUV twice. Only camera lens cracks.

It'd be interesting to do a drop test between the HTC One M8 and the Galaxy S5.

I have a feeling that with the last (10ft) drop, if it landed on a corner like the S4 did then it would have cracked as well. It's good that the phones can survive more 'flat' drops on their front or back but I don't expect the front glass panel to just shatter if the entire surface lands fairly flat.

Yesterday at Subway while I was standing in line some guy dropped a Nokia 3310 on the ground. The girl in front of him picked it up and the guy was saying yeah I got one of these old ones, the iPhone would have cracked dropping on the ground. The girl said no and took the iPhone out of her pocket and just dropped it. Nothing happened to the iPhone but damn that girl had some balls.

The girl in front of him picked it up and the guy was saying yeah I got one of these old ones, the iPhone would have cracked dropping on the ground. The girl said no and took the iPhone out of her pocket and just dropped it. Nothing happened to the iPhone but damn that girl had some balls.

I've dropped my iPhone a few times and it's still intact. But that said, I'd never do it on purpose because I gave seen these things shatter when dropped at a bad angle.

Someone said something similar to me, so I pulled out my phone (Xperia Play at the time) and held it up at face height and dropped it as haphazardly as possible onto the concrete floor below. Nothing happened. People were amazed.
