Shooting from January - April. Hell yes.
!!!!!! YES!

fuck I was so mad when Jamie Foxx got the main part instead of this guy but if this guy has a part in the movie I'm okay with it. About to read the article now hopefully it isn't a small part.

edit Just read the back and forth:

Why would Tarantino pick Jamie Foxx over MKW for Djano!? I really hope it's because he thought he was the best guy for it and not just so Jamie Foxx would be on the billing so more people see the movie.

QT is one of my favs... He has many faults but casting isn't one of them

Is this an actual role like in Jackie Brown, or a glorified cameo like in Kill Bill?

hopefully the former. Would love to see Samuel Jackson get a major role in a QT movie again, contrary to the doubters he does have range when he's allowed to speak calmly in a film. Dude's underrated but he brought that on himself really.

Excited to hear Omar's in too.

Samuel L. Jackson's role is not major.
He shows up mainly in the last half of the film as a right-hand man to Leo
.

The only main characters in the story are Waltz and Foxx. I'd venture to say that even Leo isn't a "main" character.

Samuel L Jackson underrated? wtf.

The guy gets plenty of praise considering he seems to play himself in every movie he's in.

Still pretty signification. Leo's character sets-up the whole final act and a big plot point.

Its been months since I read it, but the N-word felt like it was on every page of the script.

That's what we were openly called way back when...

Any word on who's replacing Costner? My vote's for Arnold Schwarznegger. I haven't read the script by the way, I just think it would be cool to have Arnie in a Tarantino movie.

holy fuuuu

MKW: It came down to Jamie and I for Django, and he was gracious enough to call me and tell me that “Jamie was his nigger.”

[Both Laugh]

MKW: (In a sad voice) “I’m not going to be your slave? I’m not going to be your house nigger?!” [laughs] What a person to lose to. I am really excited to be working with him. Yeah, and Will Smith expressed some interest, but it came down to Jamie Foxx and I, like QT told me this personally out of his mouth over lunch.

lmao

I have no idea how I'm going to react to Leo using the n word and being a general scum of the earth. I simply cannot wait for it though.

Really?! Really?! Ray Charles man.

He already proved he can act. He's been alright in other flicks too, I have no doubt he'll pull this one off.

So it was between MKW and Foxx... Damn, Idris Elba got robbed. At least we get more Luther.

Idris is more charismatic but I think MKW's a better actor going by the Wire (and yeah I saw Luther, can't wait for season 3)

Wow I was just thinking about Tarantino the other day, wondering when he'd make another movie. Here it is! To me, the cast is irrelevant. I already know it will be good.

He is not a good actor. He will play the role of Jamie Foxx traveling back in time.

It's a shame people say he is a good actor. It shows how few black actors there actually are in Hollywood if people think that. When you remove the comics and the rappers, there's an absurdly small number of black actors. Jamie Foxx is just a marketing tool, just a face. At least Jackson can act. They might always give him expressive roles, but he can act.

was foxx's (WTF is with the 2 XX's btw) ray charles performance shitty then?
never seen the movie but i doubt you can win an oscar without being able to act

So, I assume Roots + Inglorious Basterds? Just the total vibe i'm guessing.

I wanna see some slave masters heads get chopped off.

I'd personally would've loved to see Derek Luke to play the role of Django.

It's a shame some of the only black actors some of ya'll know are Jamie Foxx, Wil Smith, Samuel L Jackson, "oh that guy from The Wire" (Michael K Williams).

And Derek Luke is indie or something?

Foxx won't win me over. His acting really hasn't improved outside of what he showcased in In Living Color other than two rare instances.
