Foxx just doesn't seem to fit this thing.
Can't ever imagine Foxx as a gunslinger.Ever.
Honestly, unless QT found away to rewrite the script and make Michael K. Williams the protagonist somehow, he done goofed up with the casting on this one.

he's not really a traditional "gunslinger" from what I've heard about the script. He's supposed to be unassuming, non-threatening until the nazi dude from IB picks him up and trains him to be a bounty hunter (those who have read the script correct me if i'm wrong). Foxx did a great job of playing an unassuming and non-threatening guy who lashes out after being pushed to his edge in Collateral.

Definitely still annoyed by Jamie Foxx casting. Michael K Williams is so much better but at least he has a part still. Foxx isn't a bad actor but every time he's acting I see Jamie Foxx I don't see a character. It's the same with Will Smith. Whatever talent they have isn't good enough to overshadow their celebrity.
Tom Cruise managed to overcome this in Collateral because he can really act and is capable of more than being only a money printer, but all I saw out of Foxx in Collateral was Jamie Foxx pretending to be scared. Foxx will probably do fine in this movie but nothing more than that which is disappointing. Just fine, okay, good, decent etc. but I want to see Gary Oldman type transformation in a Tarantino movie which he's managed to get out of a lot of his actors (Brad Pitt being most recent obviously), we'll see what happens I guess.

When has QT utterly failed at casting when his foot fetish didn't get the better of him?
I refuse to be okay with such an awesome guy be punched around by some scrawny looking tomboys.
First half of the movie was cool though. Admittedly this is the only casting stuff I can think of that didn't sit with me, but Kurt was still awesome in the first half of the movie so I guess this doesn't really count.

He's pretty good in that scene with Javier Bardem. Although I agree that Cruise was definitely better in that movie. But we can't ignore Foxx who rose above his usual shit to give us some pretty good work.
Wow, what a cast. I'm always interested in QT stuff, but this seems like a must-see based on the cast alone. Very much looking forward to this... even though we probably won't get it until 2014.

Too many doubts about the casting in here. It's Quentin fucking Tarantino, he knows what he's doing. I'd say the only mistake he made was Brad Pitt in Basterds. But Jamie Foxx and Leo Dicaprio in these roles? Gold Jerry! Gold!
Anthony LaPaglia has joined Quentin Tarantinos Django Unchained cast. LaPaglia will play the leader of a group of greedy Australians who encounter slave-turned-bounty hunter Django (Jamie Foxx) as they are escorting a group of slaves recently purchased as fighters. LaPaglia said he and Joseph Gordon-Levitt will play mean brothers, and LaPaglia said he was bowled over by the script.
